    Muddled thoughts of random adventures

Stealing Creation has officially crushed my soul. I absolutely despise it now, and have played it very little since my last blog cried and moaned. I am logging on daily essentially to do dailies right now, and that's about it. Battlestaves get done, an effigy somewhere is assisted, poor little Bork gets slaughtered, and Stormy jumps back into the perpetual thin air. If there are some new Penguins hopping about, I chase after them, too.

There is the constant pleasure I get from doing those shattered heart rocks. I have 25 sets complete, and the full set for 26 has been collected, due to hand in Thursday.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to hand them in next week, as I will be traveling Thursday-Monday (and missing the EXP weekend! EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE EXPLETIVE). That means I'll finish the entire Shattered Heart collection almost a week late, after nearly a year of dilligent rock-chasing.

    Crap.

I need roughly 600 more Stealing Creation points until I can move on to level Construction. At -that- point, I'll get 91 construction and never have to do it again; I can simply collect free exp via effigies and call it a career on awful Stealing Creation.

I still look for excuses every time I log in to do something different than SC.

So I have been away from rs for two months or so now, and I know that I left without saying so to anyone.

I didn't really notice myself that I was leaving, because I always thought that I would play tomorrow, or the day after, and after, and after.

I knew I wouldn't be playing the school year beginning now, because it's going to be quite special, going to folk college and all.

But knowing that I was going to leave didn't really help on the motivation for playing, I guess. So I ended up playing less and less.

But I've always known that I'm going to start playing again next may, so it's not really too much time before I'm back! :) (And I will of course log on rs from time to another and say hi to the guys in the cc)

Finally, I guess I owe everyone an apology, I should have said bye to you all, but I'll try saying it here to the guys I haven't been able to say it to yet.

Hope you all will have a great year, and I can't wait till I can start playing with you again! :D

    Man, who reads words anymore?

    Daemonheim

If you've read August's BTS you probably already know that Daemonheim is getting another batch of updates including:

    * Floors 36 to 47 with the Occult theme (12 floors total)

    * 8 new rewards (including range prayer, special attack cost-reducing ring, and damage reflecting ring)

    * 6 new bosses

    * New monsters

    * New challenge rooms

That would mean we will be getting access to new floors every other level up to level 93. Can't wait to finally increase my prestige and get more experience per floor. Needless to say skill training is always more fun with new content to look forward to.

I just reached level 83 recently meaning I will be able to access up to floor 42, 7 of which will be the new occult themed. If we assume 1 new boss per 2 floors starting with floor 36 that would mean 3 new bosses to encounter.

All in all, it means more xp and more stuff to unlock. Maybe I'll make 93 my goal for month's end? Hah, I wish.

In any case I'll be working on hitting a few more levels before the new content comes out.

    Minecraft

Oh Minecraft, what am I to do with you... You're keeping me from 99 Dungeoneering.

If you haven't heard of Minecraft, it's an indie game where you.. well, mine... and craft? You are given a randomly generated world of blocks that goes on for an infinite distance in any direction. By breaking these blocks you gather resources to craft into tools and other objects which can be used to build whatever you want.

Bridges, castles, towns, etc. Oh, and there's skeletons, zombies, creepers, and other mobs that wander around and try to kill you.

Many of my friend are into MC, and survival multiplayer is coming out tomorrow so I'll probably be playing with them. I've been playing single player, but mining isn't really all that interesting to me. The first map I generated had ridiculously low amounts of iron, pissing me off quite a bit. I scrapped it and started a new world, and things have been going much better. Normally I'd jump for an opportunity to build stuff but I'm really not in the creative mood right now. Expecting a ton more fun in multiplayer.

Cartographer view of the bridge thing I constructed last night. (Unoriginal, I know):

    Dwarf Fortress!

Yea, I don't actually feel like writing that much more right now, so...

Shout out to everyone who's played Dwarf Fortress! Found my first cavern and was subsequently attacked by a Giant Toad and killer Crocodile that pretty much decimated my poorly made militia. Good fun! :D

<please imagine a screenshot of dwarves being eaten by a giant crocodile right here, ty>

And... I think I'll go build some stuff in Minecraft before doing a few more Dungeoneering floors tonight.

I have another 35 floors to get through before reset. ;)

Final Sara trip.. without 88 summoning.

After this last trip, which had 3 SS's and a Hilt, which came at the 2nd to last kill of the trip, I'm slayering for 88 summoning, then forfeiting all my pixel money towards 95 prayer (gradually).

    Pictures:

    runescape133727.png

    ^^^^^

First SS, came at around 7 kc (was killing mages prior)

    runescape152120.png

    ^^^^

This one made me jump a bit since I hadn't seen a split in awhile, turns out it was a teaser.

    runescape152911.png

    ^^^^^^

4 kills later, bam! Second ss. It has now graduated from a good trip to a great one.

    runescape153525.png

    ^^^^^

Now I was just laughing at this point, 3 kills later, another ss. The third one. Trip is now an awesome/hilarious one.

    runescape170825.png

    ^^^^^^^^

And now for the grand finale.. the hilt! Came at the 2nd to last kill, which was around 120 kc (guy died earlier and came back).

Grand totals = 20.5m trip. Best to date. This was my 2nd ever trip with extremes, which, by the way, were a blaring success. Not to mention 2 trips ago I had a hilt as well, and an ss to match.

Getting lucky at sara, however, I'm slayering now for the much sought after - Unicorn Stallion! Not to mention I'll pick up 85 slayer along the way.

So that's what I have been up to recently. Hopefully getting Turmoil next, but I might just try to get 85 dungeon and then do frost dragons for that, since I would kind of like a Visage, and I would need only 14.3k Frost Drag Bones do get there, which is lots better then killing 31k green drags.

Oh, and I guess I am supposed to introduce myself in my first blog, so w/e. I am Pere Grin, I play Runescape (obviously). I play pretty normally, with some efficiency, but I don't really worry about it that much if it starts interfering with the fun of the game. I enjoy random thing's like duoing the Chaos elemental, and Rev Hunting/agility training with my Penance Horn. Barbarian Assault is my favorite minigame, and Healer is my favorite role. I get most of my points by taking newbies through, and teaching them how to play the game the right way!! (read: not keep getting torsos without leveling up!)

Oh, and now for the IRL part. I am 20 years old, in college, and majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I play more during the summer, as engineering projects tend to drag my attention elsewhere. I can program in C++ and a bit of C#. I also know how to use SolidWorks and SolidEdge (but I prefer SolidWorks). I work as a mechanic, and also in a coffee shop on the weekends. Oh, and the usual: I enjoy hanging out with friends, listening to music, blah blah.......you get the picture.

    Welcome!

Hey I'm xTheAncientx and welcome to my RS blog. I have been playing Runescape since somewhere in mid 2002 on the same account I have today. Over the years I've played pretty casually. Occasionally I have bought members for a month or two, but never really went all out. I've recently discovered I have some more time on my hands so I figured I'd try and level up a bit.

    The Low-Down

    Here are my stats today:

    xTheAncientxstats7_15_2010-1.jpg

My current goal is to train my Attack and Defense levels to 80. I am doing this in the Stronghold of Security (what can I say, I love training Lvl 2 Fleshies). I have 8 days left of membership (I may get another one), so I'm gathering a bunch of herbs to sell.

Hopefully I can make it in the next few days :D

Anything that happens to pop up in life, or Runescape especially.

    Again. It's been a while tip.it.

Those of you who regularly read the times may have seen another of my DYK's up, thanks to racheya and the crew, again!

Anywho, since mah last post,i've leveled quite a bit. Today, i did 2 quests, both of which have been bothering me. The first was The Great Brain Robbery. I was stuck on Barrelchest, before a friend of mine recommended to me that using a Dragon dagger was the best choice, along with having protect melee on quick prayers and activating it every time. Result? Barrelchest dead, taking 5 tuna potatoes that i used. I know its kinda noobish, but it took me 3 tries b4 this one to kill him.

Anyway, the 2nd was Heroe's, which really only took me a few more minutes to beat, because of the pheonix/black arm candlestick thingy. A rank from my clan chat took it upon himself to help me. Thanks, and now i have access to the Heroe's Guild.

Also, i did a Large 4 person dungeon with some higher-level buds. Thanks, guys!

That's kinda my update. Cya tip it :D

Now on the quest for 99 smithing!

Well its time I finally say a very hard goodbye to my RuneScape days. Between college, commitments, friends, and family I'm seeing less and less playtime. I never really pictured this day ever arriving and have been dreading it truly. While I did not get to reach my second goal of 99 smithing, I didn't need to achieve to already have a smile a mile wide. That smile doesn't come from the achievements I've accomplished...it comes from knowing that I have truly made some friends here. I really love you all...there is something about the Tip.It community that really impresses me. Always maintain the great unity that exists here and know how great a thing that is. Bye folks.

P.S. I placed the names of every single person who has ever commented on my blog in a virtual magic hat and raffled off my four remaining 3 Month RuneScape membership cards as a goodbye present. Enjoy :^_^:.

The life of Lt. Jake Dunn.

Been a long time since I wrote my last entry. Today, I completed love story and again, Nomads requiem stands alone in the list. The requirements are still pending, but I am now closer than ever. Currently I need 1 level of mage and 6 levels of prayer. Mage and half of prayer are already banked, but my money is draining like crazy. Gotta get more soon.

Also, yesterday happened something I had never expected. My brother, Kurppa17, after year and a half long break and 5 years of scaping, returned and bought a member, now more excited than ever. It is good to have him back really, Someone to talk with is always nice. I got him back to date with the updates and told a little bit of everything and he now plays like a veteran he is. Gonna go do some dungeoneering today with him. Hopefully, he will like the skill.

    Lt. Jake Dunn, signing off.

some clans only have some uses but some are better than others

clans. just something you would think was another thing jagex thought would be a good idea to put into the game. main question why did it take them so bloody long to get on with it in the first place? joining clans is something i my self have done since clans were made available through the clan chat system and the easier ways to communicate through the game to your fellow players. spammed all the time when ever you set your name up and find you are perfect for every single clan that is f2p and they wont go away -.- searching for a clan can be simple or quite strenuous as the people in the clans are not always that nice to you at first or they are just being a complete [bleep] about it. over the time i searched through clans not finding that sense of awareness or ability to communicate as well as be a nice person to talk to for example a clan leader who can be to uptight about his rank and treats everyone like crap, hey in that case i cant imagine they would last long =P

but eventually i managed to find a clan in which helped me get to grips with new things and get to know the people inside being respected and enjoy being in their company TLB-Airborne and TLB Zarrock i wont forget the first time i went to war practice was so much fun yet confusing at the same time with the grid system and pre-fighting preparation. the first war was a buzz it was like nothing i had been able to get into before. i found the idea of using military intelligence in game was brilliant and how airborne managed to keep control and keep people in the know. i remember myself not standing out. although my best stat was 80 range which was my only way for initiation for the clan i felt rather useless. days past conversation were had people came as well as people left although the clan was growing my second war was approaching i understood the fabric of the war strategy and what was to be done. new people who had joint the clan had to learn the strategy before the war and had little time to adjust. during the second war i held my ground the grid we had was holding well the attackers in shambles, mage's spell hitting un-planned targets order was clearly missing. we lost a fair few good people due to preparation of the grid. and then came my first sign of initiative after the battle i confronted the leader and asked if i were to put up a suggestion. he allowed me to tell him what i had to say about our grid system and how we could improve efficiency and speed of preparation and help people understand. Airborne thought that my idea was indeed a good one and placed it straight into his battle plans and gladly gave me the credit. from then i remember him saying "you are well on to becoming corporal" i remember thinking that it was not my intention to get closer to a promotion but in the end became better off. by the third war i was corporal and was able to show my military initiative calling out piles keeping people in line surviving barrages supporting fellow clan mates in which lead to great success of the clan as we indeed won that fight indeed every fight we have come across we have not lost. about another 2weeks had passed by this time i was getting to know my clan mates pretty well and had befriended TLB-Snipe who was also ranked corporal i was becoming more of a veteran of the clan and was also having problems with what im sure my clan mates will remember TLB-Armydog he was a prime example of what caused problems and was indeed not very nice to most people eventually though he was forced to leave after being given numerous chances to sort himself out.

i have continued to reside in my clan a faithful member and am glad to be where i am i am now a Sargent in "The Lost Battalion" and will continue to spend my runescape days in this clan for as long as i play.

    Another day, another Saru

Summer is in the air, the birds fly without a care, the wind tussles through my hair... Wait... Why?

O, I know why. Because my car a/c is broken. Because an old guy back in april slammed on his brakes, in the middle of a four lane road, with no one in front of him. So I got a needle hole poke in my a/c tube. So all the freon leaked out. So now I have to pay $450 for a new tube + freon. All good, right? Well, except for the fact that the canadian bank gigged me $550 this week, because my mom overdrew my account. All good, right? Well... No. She refuses to take the blame for it, and wrote me check for $150. Generous, right? No. She already owed me $300 for when she spent my college fund. Now she won't give me that $300. I can still make it, right? No. I need to make a down payment of $600 on August 6th if I want to expand my cerebral domain. Easy, right? No. I also owe $500 in bills by Aug 6th, with 2 paychecks inbetween. Easy, right? No. I can only make $1200 at the very very most in those two paychecks. Thats enough though, right? Just don't get those #5 no cheese no mayo at wendy's. Right? Uhhh... No. My parents said I have to leave the house soon. Damn Saru, you're a bad kid, right? No. I just said I wouldn't let my mom use the car because she's an absent minded driver who has totaled 3 vehicles already and I don't want to add to the list. Wow Saru, you were being disrespectful! ... Right? Debatable. Considering my mom called my selfish sinning fool moments before. Oh well. I have friends I can room with to pay rent, right? No. I only have 2 irl friends. Yea. I said it. No one really likes me irl. Not sure why, I've lost a lot of weight, and I'm honestly not that bad looking. Anyways, one of those friends is in New York for college, one is at a dorm. Well its ok, just room with... strangers? Sure. But I'm gay and all the available apts ask for "calm Christian principled young men and women." yikes, sounds like a nunnery.

Well Saru, why don't you just be nicer to your parents? You know what, you're right. At the moment all I do is work 40 hours a week, do 4 loads of dishes, clean the mens bathroom which literally looks like an exxon bathroom after 5 mins. I swear they miss on purpose. And then I clean my room spotless twice a week, while keeping all my laundry done, and I even cook dinner occasionally. My brothers do nothing but increase their gravitational pull, and decrease their realistic grasp of how the world works. Cheep cheep. Cheep Cheep. Oh sorry, those are my birds. I guess it's time to wake and get dressed. Aww, they're singing for me. Wtf. my name isn't Cinderella. Oh well, I guess they are similar enough. To top it off, well, to be honest, I honestly (lol) don't like telling people this because they think I'm fishing for pity. Which I'm not, I'M TROLLLING! :XD: (get it?) (no?) (*sigh* trolling is a type of fishing. it was funny to me. no I don't care if it was funny to you or not. Well it was funny to me. Well [bleep] you.) But I've been clinically depressed for my whole childhood, and I just tried killing last week, I took 45 adderall pills, and placed the bottle in the sink so it looked like it just spilled. I went up to my bed, took 4 unisoms and fell asleep at 3 pm. Woke up at midnight. Nothing happened. Nothing. I was more pissed than I ever had been before. Technically 20 should be lethal. And I can't buy a [bleep]ing gun because I've been in therapy. It's [bleep]ing [cabbage], I tell you. Anyways, despite the pubescent trolling joke, I'm honestly not looking for pity. But I really don't know what to do. I tend not to post this kind of [cabbage] on the forums (save like 5-8 blog posts over the years) but I just don't [bleep]ing know. I almost killed my dad tonight, but stopped myself. I don't want to go to [bleep]ing jail. But I can't get out of the house because I have literally no money. And I will not sell myself to their [cabbage] beliefs, and [cabbage] ideas. (gays are satanic cannibalistic perverted child molesters? The [bleep]?)

Well idk. any advice I guess,

    But until the next test

    I will rest

If you wanna post be my guest,

    -Saru'ness' *like highness :XD:*

    CELL: STEPHEN KING

Stephen King's Cell starts with promise...

    Favorable:

    - good characters,

    -great descriptions,

-you feel bad when characters die

    Critical:

    -bad ending,

    - very two dimensional bad guy,

-sadly characters in the book kind of play it off when others die

I started reading this and was very happy with the opening detailing what happens after the Pulse, in which everyone goes crazy from using their cell phones. It was fifty or so pages of descriptive power not seen in many books anymore. The narrative continued and it was very good. New characters are introduced along the way, all very human and very good company.

There is, of course, a bad guy, but one of the problems with him is he is just a shadow, even when in front of the characters. He isn't menacing or really evil, he just is there to hold the story together it seems.

I won't spoil the ending, but this is what really killed it for me. The bad guy is defeated in a very anti-climactic and very unexciting finale. It makes you feel bad when reading 450 pages to get to the apex of the narrative and then see a flatlined ending. Everything up to the point was exciting and the end just kills everything. Which is sad because with a better ending, the book would probably get another star from me.

The very end does not answer all the questions you probably have, but it doesn't bother me in the least. Imagination is a powerful thing friends.

I can say that it wasn't terrible, but it was just average fair from an author who can do so much better. Lately he has had a problem with satisfying endings and all of his latest books have had weak endings. Under the Dome was the same way.

Overall, you might enjoy it a bit more than me, but my motto in reading a book is "An explosive finale leaves the reader remembering the book for a long time, a boring one just makes it another book on the shelf and all its good parts are forgettable". A three out of five.

THE AGE OF ZEUS: JAMES LOVEGROVE

Starts With Promise; Ends In Disaster

    Favorable:

    -good action,

    -historically accurate

    Critical:

    -fairly indistinct characters,

    -terrible ending,

-too many sexual jokes thrown in for no reason,

-explanation of gods ruins whole book

Solaris is a terrible publisher for anyone not in the know. They published the God-awful Combat-K novels by Andy Remic, that I would not suggest to anyone. I decided to give them another chance because the thought of the Greek gods battling against a group with modern weapons was a very appealing prospect for me.Let alone power armored people with advanced weaponry blowing the pantheon to pieces in gory fashion.

Going into it I found it to be good. The story was slow to get started, but once the action started kicking up near page 100 it was unrelenting. Then the problems started...

First of all, Solaris books are known for their hefty amount of action scenes. This book does not disappoint, but unlike the Combat-K books, there is enough of it that it is not overbearing.

That's kind of where the similarities end between the two and I start to see problems.

First of all, the comedy is something you would expect from a five year old. At the idea of placing sexual organs on a beast and being able to disgustingly describe the size or anything else, the author apparently gets a major kick because for no reason whatsoever he does these things. It becomes repetitive, disgusting, and pointless. You groan at every point he mentions something sexually provocative.

    -----SPOILERS----------

The middle of the book punches us in the face. We suddenly get a scientific reason for the Greek pantheon roaming the Earth and it's utterly ridiculous and stupid. Then the God's, after explaining their scientific properties and such, give a perfectly basic explanation to why they are on Earth that has nothing to do with science and being real humans in a genome project. This is where the book falls apart at the seams. This is as bad as the midi-chlorians of Star Wars. Have people not realized that the prospect of mysticism and magic around characters is more attractive than stupid scientific reasoning behind a seemingly impossible event?

    ----SPOILERS END-------------

The end was a completely pointless event. It was the penultimate groan. The author had to go there. It is completely pointless I swear, almost like the author will now go to the bar with buddies and say "Hey, I did this in the book at the end, hahahaha, it's because I am not very mature". And the author does not come across as very mature in this novel.

Now to the editing. Solaris sucks at editing. Every chapter had some sort of problem whether unnecessary words showing up or just nonsensical sentences or run-on sentences. And while all publishers do have problems with editing, this book seemed to be the first editing of a new editor.

Ultimately, I would really skip this book. I read through the whole thing because it had the appeal of some decent action, but it's ending was bad, and everything else about it was pretty bad too. The author has potential, but it just is not at all shown off in this novel.

    2/5

    The End of a Skiller

After Almost exactly 1 year... The time has come to move on. Right?

For quite a while, Ive been level 111 Combat choosing instead to improve my skills, and leaving combat alone. I had even decided not to gain my combat level, which is VERY close to gaining until after 99 runecrafting. However, I have recently decided against this. While waiting for my friend to catch up in runecrafting (its been a while) Ive managed to get another 5 stats close to 99. So running out of things to do besides farming and herblore, Ive decided to get a jumpstart on preparing for 99 slayer. Which unfortunatly includes gaining my commonly known low combat level.

Oh introduce myself... should do that. My Runescape name is Speedsktr, Im always in world 131 (best world ever... dont argue) and I Hate combat, and Love skilling. So far Im 2075 total with only 1 skillcape that Ive had for about 2 years now (woodcutting). Im currently working on getting 99 in a few skills. They are Runecrafting (98), Magic (96), Thieving (97), Fletching (98), Cooking (98) and Firemaking (97). Basically Trying to get the 'noob' skills out of the way without gaining them before Runecrafting. I also have a questcape, which I love enough to face Nomad over 20 times to get it back... stupid nomad.

Anyway, the goals for now include...

    • 95 Prayer
    • 68/70 Summoning
    • 99 Runecrafting
    • 99 Magic
    • 99 Thieving
    • 99 Fletching
    • 99 Cooking
    • 99 Firemaking

After achieving these, I will start on my combat training. During which I hope to get 99 Defence/Hitpoints/Range/Prayer/Slayer and 85 Attack/Strength. Going to definatly be a challenge for me, Im not exactly known for my love of combat, but with the help of my friends, I should be able to stick with it. Luckily I will have some skilling to do during this time as well in the form of Herblore and Farming, so hopefully that break will be enough to keep me going. Wish me luck!

    One or the other

I picked up a Jack Russell terrier from my friend. He's 10 weeks old and a pure breed. He is so adorable. I gotta name him though, so anyone have some ideas?
