Since the economy tanked, my school district canceled all field trips to save money.

Today, my sociology class went on a field trip. My first field trip in 5 years is also during my last year of highschool, so I was stoked. Our destination? The local jail of course.

Anyway, remind me to never ever ever get arrested. The jail was creepy. It smelled bad, and was just scary. The inmates just stared at us the entire time we were there (yea, we were in the same rooms and everything). It was a super depressing place because there were next to no windows at all.

Im one of those people who always has to be doing something. Writing, doodling, building, playing, something at all. I would go insane with nothing to do all day. So yea, dont ever get arrested. Its a scary place.

In other news, netflix just got the new episodes of How I Met Your Mother. This is the best show ever. Needless to say, I shall be finished with the entire season by friday.

Scaping wise, I may or may not slack from my slaying to work on getting the levels to do the new quest. I kinda liked the the other tzhaar quests, which for me is abnormal. I dont usually like quests.

Hi again everyone, sitting here on lunch break checking whether there is any change on the status of EoC... Nothin.

I have a question, is everyone else as surprised as me that Jagex haven't addressed the issues being raised? I have heard everything from "it's too hard to chat & train cb" to (edited) "EoC is rubbish".

To be honest, I have gotten used to the abilities, but it isn't the pressure release it used to be. Slaying is a trial-of-button-mashing and I don't leave the game feeling chilled out any more. Is there anyone else feeling like this, or is it just me?

My name is Sam and my RSN is IceyNut. I'm quite interested in creative writing and expressing my thoughts and I'm happy to see this blogging feature, so I'll be sure to put it to good use!

Since becoming part of the W71 Penguin Whisperers community I've found that I'm more knowledgeable about what's around me during my adventures in Gielinor. Not only do I know the whole map upside-down (well... kind of), but I am also more aware of communities. I started RuneScape as the sort of person who didn't really know much about the game at all and being part of a community lead me to who I am today... an absolute nut!

I've been part of the Penguin Whisperers for almost 2 years now, and since then I've grown to be a part of the clanning world too. I'm currently in the clan 'Friendship' which is a Social & Community clan but we are always there to offer help and support when we can. I've taken many roles within the clan and it's allowed me to know more people in the clan community and the D&D community.

We do various events each week in Friendship, and one of my favourites is Clan GOP. I haven't been to it for a while, I really should because it's a great activity and one of the most popular for the clan. When I played in the past I would take screenshots and post them to the clans social networking page. It was to show that I was really fond of GOP, I still am but I find myself in the middle of something while GOP is happening.

I don't know what you'll make of that. If there were two of me then it'd be lucky because I would be able to herd the second to a trap as well as the one I was already with. Luckily though another penguin herder came to save the day. If not then, yes it would've been lucky that I'd found it but when herding penguins you develop a sense to not want to let them go. :P

Luckily though a penguin herder did come to my rescue. ;)

Believe it or not I started herding this penguin by myself, and of course we all ask each other for help if we're not busy. As a little experiment I asked as many herders as possible for help. They all came! This was quite a fun herd indeed. I'll leave you with the result of the "after-herd". A cakey mess!

This response is due to your recent email regarding my decision to cancel my subscription. The easiest way to explain really is by the copy & paste below that was sent to your seniors. To date there has been no [/font]response to these concerns. I am not the author but i am the 138cb player referenced within. My partner wrote this & forwarded to Jagex after I decided to quit my membership on Runescape. Please read on, you will find the explanation simple. Being a p2p member for 7 years & having a broad network of friends on Runescape, I can tell you now with confidence there will be many yet to follow my path from feedback received within the game unless Jagex is quick to react to consumer needs. Lets face it, Obviously your marketing department has no practicle hands on qualifications to to realise the number 1 rule towards business success is "Retain your client base" as your priority then move forward for new business, not the other way round!

This is a long discourse, but it is not a rant. It is intended to help you understand from a customer perspective what large changes such as the introduction of EoC to Runescape means, and to give you some insight into the impact the game has on people's lives. Please read it, I believe you will get some value from actively listening to your customers.

Let me start by saying I am 46 years old, have been a paid member for 4 years and have a (previously) 134cb main & a 51cb pure. I understand that I am not the demographic you are aiming for. Over those years, I have, however, paid you over $4,600 in fees on my main, $2,000 on my pure, and spent over $3,000 on sof and sols. And that's just my accounts, not including the kids. I enjoy the "timeout" Runie gives me after work, the fact that I can lose myself in it and forget the worries of work, and I have always felt that the money is well spent.

I met my current partner (also 46) on your game (6 year paid member, 138cb main & a 60cb pure, has also paid you over $10,000 in his time). While I understand meeting others in this way is frowned upon, it has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. We have many common interests, and I would not change it for the world, I would do anything for him. So your game has had a major impact on both of our lives. Between us, we have 6 kids from 10 to 17 years of age. All up, we have over 10 accounts, 6 of which are paid members for over 4 years.

Eoc is geared towards the kids. They all love it, I have seen the renewed interest, and being a business analyst for an IT firm myself, I can see the value in this strategy for Jagex. I do understand the need to bring the game back into the present, and do not begrudge the change from this perspective at all. Our kids ARE your main demographic & so they should be.

Having said that, EoC has taken ALL of the pleasure out of playing the game for my partner and myself. We both tried & hated beta, but decided to hang out & give it a go. It took us both 1 week. He has cancelled his 2 paid accounts, and I am about to do the same for both of mine. My high combat friends are all dropping off like flies. The abilities are way too overpowered, leaving us slower oldies at a major disadvantage, and the amount of bugs in the release is appalling for a game that has been in beta for over 3 months. The option to just close the action bar DOES NOT WORK against either pvms or pvps who are using abilities, leaving us at a significant disadvantage & taking away all the enjoyment. The only equivalent I can think of follows] have been a loyal paying customer of a firm providing you an excellent electricity supply for four years, but they have recenty brought in a change. Now, you can have a trickle of your former full service, enough to run the fridge, and i you want more to watch the TV, you have to hit a button on the wall every 5 seconds. There are no options to return to your previous levels of service. Ask yourselves, are you happy? Will you look for other supply options?

I have no issue with the introduction of the EoC abilities for your future, but please respect your existing client base, and provide a non-eoc world or two where Momentum is permanently enabled & all other abilities are disabled. I know there is additional development / testing and ongoing support required when you have multiple configurations such as I am asking for, but I do not ask for the removal of EoC, just continued support for continued enjoyment of a game that I pay for,

To be honest, Jagex would also gain other benefits of non-eoc worlds. It would separate the mature players from the kids, allowing you over time to slowly wean us off the game by leaving out further updates. It would also help you to understand how many of us there are right now, how important we are in your current client base, and how many of us truly dislike the EoC abilities. I know you don't want us in the big picture, but most of us have been loyal fans for a long period, pay you a lot, AND play a major role in raising the young minds you ARE aiming at! You have a duty to continue providing a game we can play based on our years of support.

I don't want you to remove EoC, I applaud that as an organisation you can recognise when change is required, and adapt to it quickly. I just want you to accept responsibility for the expectations you have set with your existing clients. I FULLY expect you to provide me with continued pleasure from a game I enjoy & pay good money to enjoy. At the moment, this is not happening. Unfortunately, if I don't receive a response, I will be leaving completely & finding an alternative. The kids have already started looking for something for me, as they don't believe you will listen. I really hope you do.

It's nothing special, it was actually quite easy, but my magic level is now 98 and I should get that done by the time Evolution of Combat comes out next week.

A massive thank-you to the EoE clan for the support they've given me. DGing with you guys is one the best experiences I've had in six years of playing this game, and although I might not ever achieve 120, I'll carry on with you all for as long as I can.

Here's a quick poem I put together an hour ago for my girlfriend

for her birthday. She has a real thing for tea, but I wanted to make

I am continuing to make good progress towards becoming Maxed. I reached 110 Combat (this will become 162 with the release of EoC).

Now I can try my luck at Dominion Tower!

I killed the Queen Black Dragon yesterday too! It was totally awesome!!!

All my skills are now at least level 70 (in some cases much, much higher)!!

Despite some reservations about certain aspects of the up-coming EoC update, I am looking foward to it's finalization and eventual release!

So recently theres been a lack of playing runescape on my part, with the Nechraels task taking forever to complete. However, I feel cheap because with this lack of playing I still had membership and managaed to get to 86 herblore with the bonus xp. I really want to get back into playing, but I'm currently trying to 1000g Dark Souls, which is quite difficult really. I've also just got a PS3, so I'm spending a lot of time playing that too. I now have a lot more free time as I've finished my fitness instructor work and

So work has been weird recently, and people have been constantly complaining, about seemingly trivial stuff, which gets on my nerves profusely. Product development is going well, and I've had some pretty awesome ideas, which I'm excited about implementing.

Outside of work, I'm not sure when I last posted, so since then I think, I've got my yellow stripe in Tae Kwon Do, and began gymnastics as well. I've been working hard at gymnastics, and am working on front tuck full twist. I've been getting the front tuck half twist and thought I'd try the next progression. I think soon I'm going to try front pike to half twist as well. I've also been working on high bar as well, mainly as a way to increase my body control, and overall strength. I can still back tuck on the floor, which made me very happy, as well as being able to round off back tuck. I have also tried side tuck to 3/4 twist just as something to try, but I'm not able to land it, so it still needs some work.

This weekend I'll be training hard hopefully, and I plan to have a fast run through of my triathlon training, hopefully going 1.5 times the distance on each discipline and completing in about one hour 5 mins (it's not a very long one)

I really wish I had more motivation to play runescape, but I'm sure it'll pick up soon, if not, I'm not sure I'll be too bothered. It kinda irks me that I'm at 98 strength tho.

It was one of those days you'll rarely forget in a hurry, when you see the last 10 years flash before you and wonder where it went

Thinking of the people and the places and the stories and the smiles and then looking at where you are right now, at that moment

In August 2011 - I was sitting in my dining room chatting with a friend whilst randomly tootling around Runescape

2 hours past, and the conversation become more serious and solid as the giggles lessened and the sombre mood overtook the conversation completely and at that point as I said bye to said friend - I had completely no idea what we'd spoken about until an hour or so later when I received an irate text from another friend, asking why I'd given such bad advise and support earlier that day

I sat back in the chair and settled in for the night ... couple of lovely updates and .... should I ring her ... What would I say ... How could I explain what had happened .... "My pixels were more interesting??"

I turned off the computer and a few months later, dismantled it completely and its now gathering dust in a spare corner of the house

I do keep in touch with many RS friends and as a veteran of the 2 RuneFest meets, I met a lot of great people who I chat with and keep in touch with via various social networking sites, but i've not so far returned to RS for more than 20 minutes a session

I get pangs of regret when I read such great articles about updates, see the new lovely fashions available and hear the raves of joyous applause in general

Then I read such articles as those of late and I cant help but agree with the lack of common sense, the increased botting and loss of so many moral and ethical players not to mention a new rise in the 'paymore to get more' scenario's.

I wont go into the whole, 'when I started playing back in 2005 .... ' speach, we've all heard it, and so far there are some good as well as bad updates but aside from the people I've met and have befriended me along the way - There is nothing left of any attraction for me in RS anymore - Nor in any of the other RPG's I've frequented over the last 5 years.

I feel I could've maybe limited my time online but then Im pretty sure it would have slowly returned to my old ways, and on those nights when you really cant be bothered to do your hair and put on a sparkly top (girls) it would just be another excuse not to ... not like I have anything better to do would be nul and void

I feel I've had a lucky escape and I was my own worst enemy - putting my pixelated addiction before my friends and even my own best interests in more than a social capacity

It's silly, but 200 million accounts is as good a reason as any to start up a blog here on TIF.

My first ever account was a bald guy named Lance20101 (I had learned my lesson already; there are no guarantees when you choose a name) that I made way back when RSC first went live for the public in 2001. I got the basics down, but then school got ahead of me, so I let him rot for a while. When I was ready and willing to come back, I had forgotten the password. Oops? By now he's been wiped from existence. During the move to RS2, maybe? I dunno. All I know is, he's long gone.

So I made the account I have now, Jennifer Sun (who, fun fact, was also a male character at creation), and I ran through the F2P quest gamut. At the time, I wasn't able to afford members, so I just didn't worry about it and made the most out of the F2P game. Over 10 years and 200 million accounts later, that remains my primary objective as I continue to play. I did try out my free trial membership, and it was a fun two weeks, but I think I'm much happier staying largely F2P, getting members only for a single month at a time to play the quests (I do quite enjoy the lore of this game and I wish F2P had more of it to play with).

I remember toggling PK options and fatigue. I remember the first time I logged into RS2 and marveled at the new graphics. I remember when I slayed Elvarg, a satisfying end to the current F2P quests if I do say so myself. I remember all the time I put into my skills, though it never seemed enough. I remember TipIt's skill calculators and the discussions of combat level formulas.

And I remember Lance20101, for though he is no longer a series of ones and zeroes here or anywhere, he was my first RS account. So he was either a push in the right direction or, well, a mistake. 10 years later, still sussing that one out.

Cheers to 200 million accounts and over 10 years of pure digital insanity.

I’ve decided to keep a blog of my daily Runescaping and possibly real life stuff mainly for myself. Doubt others will be too interested but whatever. Just as a short intro for anyone who does read this- I’ve been playing for about 6 years now. My original account Darkmasterz8 was banned in ’07 so I started my main account D4rkm4st3rz8 as a result. I’ve maxed it out, gotten Completionist, and have nearly finished the trimmed requirements. My Darkmasterz8 has since been unbanned and I’m currently playing on it due to the boredom I’m experiencing on my main.

Well let’s get started. Yesterday I completed Nomad’s Requiem and beat Nomad in my first attempt. It was much more easier and fun than my first time doing it because of the better gear I had on. Still a great accomplishment. Today I managed to complete the Fight Kiln after my 4th attempt(all 2 hours long) to get my TokHaar-Kal cape. It was my main goal that I set when first subscribing this account 2 weeks back. Previous attempts saw me either failing at Jad or getting the boss to little hp left before dying. This time I saved my crystals towards the end, made less mistakes to conserve brews, and managed to kill it relatively easily. A major feat even though I could complete it in 42 minutes on my main lol

Next goal is to complete Ritual of the Mahjarrat. Still need a few more agility and mining levels. Going to be fun doing that quest for the second time. This time I won’t rush it through like last time during the day of release. Anyways a bit too much for one day so I’ll end it here with some pictures too.

I recently read a post, http://forum.tip.it/topic/311258-hide-stickies/, requesting a way to hide stickies.

Since it seems we aren't going to get an official way to do this, I decided to write up a greasemonkey userscript for those people who are using FireFox or GoogleChrome.

This userscript will add an [x] next to each sticky which will let you hide it.

There is a counter above the stickies that tells you how many you have hidden on that page and gives you the option to display them.

If you want to unhide a sticky you need to click "[click to show]" above the list of stickies and then choose the "[+]" option for each individual sticky you want to unhide.

This userscript relies on the cookie named "hidden_stickies", so if you clean out your cookies often this script won't be much help.

If for some reason the script doesn't appear to be working properly, please disable it and let me know the issues you ran into.

Since my fiancee and I broke up I've done a lot of thinking about life. I have to say, I'm a happier person now than I have been for years. I don't think it's necessarily because we're not together anymore, mind. Frankly, a lot of it's to do with my improving health. But anyway, I've come to a conclusion about what I really think the purpose of life is. When I was younger, I was such a cynical stoic that my opinion was the only purpose in life was to continue life. But here goes: Life is short. I don't hold hope that there's an afterlife. So the purpose of life is only what you make of it. Given that, happiness is the only thing really worth striving for. (Ideally not at the expense of the happiness of others but whatever.)

So what makes me happy? Well, right now my job makes me happy. I'm greatly respected at work by pretty much everyone, because I bust my ass all the time, not to mention the fact that I can find pretty much anything in the store. But more than happiness at work, I really want to be somebody to someone. More than a friend and a respected colleague. Plus, I want to be more to myself.

On the me front, biking to work has been getting me in much better shape than I've ever been, and I've been working my upper body too. One thing I've wanted for a long, long time--certainly more than I ever cared about physical fitness--was to dye my hair blue. It's naturally very black, but I've always thought a good dark blue tint would look nice. So, on Tuesday, I got my ex to drive me (I don't have a car) over to the local Sally Beauty, and since then, I've had blue hair! I'd post a pic but my webcam has trouble picking up the tint in my home light. :wall: I've gotten tons of compliments on it at work, though, even from some of the older ladies who I thought would hate it. :grin:

As for the significant other bit...well, that's where things get complicated. There's this girl at work I've had my eye on for a while. She's both attractive and dorky, the perfect combo. <3: Some quick Facebook stalking (don't judge me) told me she had a boyfriend, though. But all this newfound confidence has made me rather cocky, honestly, and since literally every girl in work that I'm interested in is with someone already, I thought, what the hell, I'll try my luck. I went up to her today when she was conveniently alone in the breakroom and mumbled out "Do you wanna go to a movie or something sometime?" (Mind, I haven't asked someone out in seven years. I'm rusty.) I did this fully expecting her to say no, she already had a boyfriend. I told myself I needed to experience the rejection, that it was a good thing, that I needed to try and damn the consequences. So imagine my surprise when she said "sure." I believe my response was along the lines of "Buh, come again?"

So now I have a dilemma. I have a date with this girl two Fridays from now. But she has a boyfriend already. What if she doesn't think it's a date, that it's just casual? That'd be fine, I guess, but what if, God forbid, she brought her boyfriend? Needless to say, I'm...rather confused. The wheels in my head are spinning and it's gonna be hard to get them to stop for a while, I think. x.x

But on the whole, am I happy? Yes. I think I am.

The game of Runescape made its online debut in January of the year 2001. Andrew and Paul Gower were the only Jagex employees at the time. Over the years, they would see their game grow and develop, and the need for more employees grew. Runescape was a very simple game to begin with. Although many people believe that Runescape Classic is 2-D, it is actually 3-dimensional. It has height, width, and depth, and the graphics are primitive but fun just the same. When the game first came out, you could choose what occupation to be. You could be an adventurer, mage, miner, or fighter. Your beginning stats and items would vary according to the profession that you chose. Rune armor did not come out until after the game was under way. The street value of a rune 2-handed sword in the year 2001 was around 2-3 million coins, due to the fact that no one could smith rune yet. The first rune smith was Bluerose13x. There was one type of pickaxe, one type of arrow, one color of gloves. There was no god armor or trimmed armor, and there were no random events. You probably didn't know that within one year of Runescape's release, you were the only person that could view your combat level - there were no levels next to player's names unless they were in the wilderness.

Pioneers of Runescape

This section of the guide is dedicated to the many people who have helped Runescape become what it is today, a reminder of the games roots

Former Overall Leaders, in Chronological Order:

Tks For a long time, one of the best players in the game.

L6vi Took the #1 spot from Tks in December of 2001.

Bonebreaker6 Held off Zezima for quite some time ;)

Zezima Everyone knows him as the #1 Overall in Runescape, but he didnt take that position until early 2004.

Bluerose13x First person to 99 Smithing AND Magic!

Musashi22 2nd person to 99 smithing, held the #1 Smithing spot from 2002 until 2004.

LtAngel Goddess of crafting. First to 99, now a player-mod.

March 30th, 2003 LtAngel reaches 99 crafting.

Lilyuffie88 Arguably the most well rounded player in the game.

Early Warriors:

S A X One of the best fighters in the game for a long time.

Zonghui First person to 123 combat (99 in all combat stats). In Runescape Classic, 123 is the maximum combat level.

Gearshifter A great fighter and good all-round character.

Plate Pures + Knife Glitch:

A "plate pure" is a character that has the ability to wear a rune chestplate with a magic level of 1. This first became possible when the game made its debut because the map piece was tradable (and before you could bribe the goblin). A pure could buy the map piece and kill the dragon, while never reaching the magic level required for telekinetic grab. As of Christmas Day, 2003 there were only about 80 original plate pures left in the game. There was a big boom of plate pures, however, during the week of the Runescape II trial. Everyone's items were automatically transferred to Runescape II. It was possible for someone to gain magic levels enough to start the Dragon Slayer quest and tele-grab the map piece - then transfer the map piece back to Runescape Classic. Very few of the original plate pures remain.

The knife glitch was one of the first major bugs to hamper Runescape. How it worked:

A player would load their inventory with a weapon and lots of knives. They would then click somewhere on the map to start walking. They would right click and drop the weapon.... but wait! Back in RSC, you had to stop before you dropped anything. This meant the weapon you clicked to drop was still in your inventory. All you had to do is right click again on the weapon and wait until you stopped walking and the item was dropped. A knife would move into the slot your weapon was in. By clicking "Wield" in the box of the weapon you just dropped, you would equip the knife instead. This would add to your weapon strength even though a knife isnt a weapon. The more knives you had, the higher you could hit (obviously). In this particular picture, someone made a noob character and got his strength level to 10. He used the knife bug to fight a Greater Demon. As you can see, the knife bug was extremely effective...he hit a 25 on the Greater Demon with only 10 strength and a bronze hatchet!

Holiday Items [Part I]

Scythes Dropped on Halloween, 2003. They are non-tradable, and you can only receive one scythe. If you lose your scythe, you may retrieve it from the Varrock Clothing Store.

Pumpkins - Dropped on Halloween of 2001. You can use pumpkins to heal your hitpoints, but that is certainly not advised.

Halloween Masks Dropped in mass amounts on Halloween, 2002. Some people picked up 40-50 masks that night, and then sold for around 10k each. They come in three colors blue, green, and red.

Christmas Crackers The origin of the party hat. You had to crack open the Christmas cracker on another player, one person receiving a party hat while the other received a random item. Christmas Crackers are the rarest items in the game.

The Big Dupe:

The big dupe took place on November 7th, 2003. Many people claim to have something to do with the dupe, but few even know how it took place. Let me explain:

Duping came out before the division of the original Runescape into the two forms we now play today. In short, here is how it works:

Every item in Runescape, from a bronze dagger to a party hat, has an identification number. In duping, this ID# is copied, creating a multiple of the original item. For example, the ID# for a rune 2-handed sword is 81. When you are finished, the original sword and the duped sword will both have an ID# of 81. This way, JAGEX cannot tell which items are duped and which are not.

The dupers went around cracking christmas crackers on random people, and dropping rares in crowded places. Hundreds of party hats, dragon squares, dragon mediums, and other rare items were created and distributed throughout Runescape that day.

Jagex was forced to guess which items were real and which items were not. Naturally, party hats were the item of choice to duplicate. The price of party hats dropped to around 200k each. Most people were trying to sell, but some started stocking up on hats. At the end of that day, some people lost millions, while others gained just as much. At the time, pink party hats were the most valuable of the six. Within 24 hours, pink hats lost almost all of their net value (13 million gp down to 200k), and are now referred to as purple party hats.

Rare Items (Continued):

Easter Eggs Dropped on Easter Sunday in 2002. They heal 12 hitpoints, but like the pumpkin, eating is not recommended!

Bunny Ears Dropped on Easter Sunday, 2003. You could only take one pair, and they are non-tradable. If you lose your bunny ears, you can retrieve them from the Varrock Clothing Store.

Half Full Wine Jug Originally, wine was consumed in two parts. When Jagex switched this option, half full wine jugs became valuable.

Disk of Returning Originally, when a player was banned, their character was teleported into a locked room in the Dwarven Mines. However, if non rule breakers wanted to visit that room, they could purchase a Disk of Returning from the shop for 10gp. The shop is no longer there.
