  1. So they will be slightly influenced by the GE price. They may decide, if they REALLY don't want to spend ANY time selling on forums or even trying to figure out the price, they will go to GE and in that case I'd say that's pretty ignorant. Why would they "try" to sell something on GE for 20m when they can get a MUCH higher price on forums? The GE offers convienience, but if the price is incorrect for an item I think it's safe to assume that the item in question will rarely be bought/sold. This applies for all these new items. People may try to stay near it if the price is actually near it, however if the price is way off, then nobody is going to use GE because that simply is not the price. If jagex sets the price and it happens to be off, players will simply buy/sell the item on forums. This is letting the community decide on the price because the GE is merely serving as a guideline. If you think they will remove trading from payer to player ingame, I would recommend you get your head examined and stop listening to baseless crack theories.
  2. That's only true if people are willing to sell at that price, and if the price is, in fact, higher then who would sell at that price? That's the basics of economics.
  3. Oh so he's wrong and your right because... you say so? :-s Fantastic reasoning =D> I applaud you for accusing him of not providing proof, while you provide none yourself. Seriously, the personal attacks are ridiculous and only make you look bad. If you really think you're correct, then prove my points wrong instead of saying "oh well you're just an idiot because I think so"
  4. great exchange is so different. Also, why is WoW the founder of all medival MMORPGs when it's younger than runescape?
  5. Well that effectively means you were wrong on this try because I see no flame wars, and "arguments"? well this thread has no more "arguments" than your average discussion topic.
  6. Ok, forget about my plans for 99 agility or 99 farming. I've decided that want those beasties, so my next 99 is gonna be summoning \
  7. 6.5/10 for stats. Hey they're all fairly average but at least none of them are neglected. 5/10 for bank. Sorry, it may be organized, but there's too much junk or useless stuff in there that's just taking up space.
  8. Solidus_77: Construction cape: http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/43/constructioncostumewa0.png Rc cape: http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/2492/rccapeje9.png Will get questpoint cape up as well.
  9. I disagree. The prices that are well reflected in GE have not moved by very much at all. I also don't think think that's a logical conclusions. If price falls, I'll be much more willing to buy more of the stuff. Therefore, if the price falls, it will be more worth it to buy from other players. Not less. The limitation only prevents the sharp changes in price. What you say here would be true if it wasn't for the fact that GE was completely optional, which makes all the difference. Now, since GE is completely optional, then the price reflected by GE is an artificial representation of what the price could be. The real price is determined by supply and demand. If the price determined by the supply and demand doesn't meet the price at GE, then the item will not (or rarely) be sold at GE therefore no damage is done to the economy.
  10. Let's try not caring about post count too :shame:
  11. There is no price minimum/maximum on the forum prices therefore this is hardly a price control. It's just an estimate. I really don't like this idea of jagex trying to control the trades. I would be willing to agree IF and ONLY IF trading from player to player was removed. Now, since that is not the case, there is no evidence that jagex is trying to control prices. They just want to keep GE a stable place.
  12. Thanks for the comments everyone That's a good point, and relates to an important issue: A watched pot never boils. If you look at the exp every 5 seconds, it will feel like an eternity before you lvl up. But if you only look at it once a day (forcing yourself not to is tricky, it's best just to forget about it altogether), then you will feel happy about your accomplishment.
  13. It fluctuates. There are plenty of times on the forums where I was completely unable to sell stuff, I would give up and leave the thread. Then suddenly when I came back after half an hour or so, people were fighting to try and buy from me. GE is no different, you can't always expect insta-delivery.
  14. Sorry, first time one of my post's reached that many views and replies so it's staying :) Plugpoint92 : Ok I'll accept that alibi. A lot of people do it for seeking extra attention hence why I'm a bit anal about it :|
  15. Holy crap! Any people were telling me that it couldn't be done? I've got to try this.
  16. Actually I've been debating with yourgone for a while until he just gave up. I was merely defended myself. Also how is construction, which is considered one of the most expensive skills, even a candidate for the easiest skillcape? So basically, because I was getting the exp for the sake of money, that exp doesn't count? No, the money was just an additional incentive. Furthermore, only the money and not the exp was done for the sake of construction 99. Just like hunter, people go for 99 hunter for the money AND the experience. One incentive doesn't negate the other. As a matter of fact in this game, my desire to go for money as well as experience is the reason why I got 99 rc through the abyss. So basically, it was even harder. Also, you have no idea what the circumstances are. Since when did i get 99 runecrafting for the sake of construction? I went for 99 construction back in January and got about 92-94 runecrafting. Then, I spent 10 weeks getting 94 rc to 99 rc through the abyss. Construction from 80-99 took 4 weeks (counting the time taken to get cash) Runecrafting from 92-94 took 2 weeks, and from 94-99 took 10 weeks thus 92-99 took about 12 weeks (using the abyss). And that's about half of the skill. Since the average rate didn't change, runecrafting took way longer than construction. How could you claim that it is easier? Also, you don't know that I have a third 99: defense. defense was a hell of a lot easier to level up than either of these two skills. And then, of course, we are talking about all skills, not my skills alone  .
  17. Pros - saves an ungodly amount of time. During my 99 rc project, the part I hated the most was when I had to spend literally HOURS on the forums selling my 550k nats. Now, I no longer have to worry about the selling time. there's tons more pros Cons - So many misconceptions!! People wrongly assuming that merchanting is dead, people wrongly assuming that the maximum and minimum prices will "control" the current price of the item.
  18. Assume a new item has just came out. This item has a GE price of 20m, however the price is fluctuating between 30m and 100m (happens often for low supply items). Tell me who, in their sane mind, would even consider using GE for aquiring this item? Nobody, therefore GE will have NO effect on the price of new items that fit this scenario. A lot of people seem to forget that the GE is completely optional and that makes a huge difference
  19. This article is based on the assumption that Jagex is attempting to control the price. That assumption, however, is not true. The difference between the "price controls" of the GE and communist regime is that the GE is completely optional. Now, because the GE is optional, it cannot be considered an effective form of price control. The price minimum and maximum used in GE are not trying to control the price since they are completely independent, they are made to control rapid fluctuations. Since this does NOT change the real price fluctuations (since the supply and demand remain relatively intact) then I believe that the price minimums and maximums are only used to prevent people abusing the GE for dishonest means. It basically slows down the rate of fluctuation without limiting the fluctuation entirely. This has nothing to do with price controls Why would people buy bloods for GE price? Only if they are totally desperate. However most people will use forums. Are they forced to buy bloods for 508 if they want to use GE? yes. But are they forced to buy bloods for 508? No, there are other options available. Basically in the end, this price minimum and maximum is not a form of price control, or at the very least it is an inneffective form of price control which leads me to believe that Jagex is not pre-occupied with controlling prices but instead they are preoccupied with preventing the negative externalities linked with GE (such as manipulation and deception) from propagating. If Jagex really wanted to control prices, they would have made GE the only way of trading goods and then you are correct, it would not work.
  20. Ok as much as I'm willing to say that this is one of the superior rants on this rants forum. Please don't do the "1k views" crap, it's not a very well-received way to get people to see your thread :|
  21. Why do you blame them for your ignorance?
  22. Well now you just buy/sell at GE so... problem solved?
  23. That's why I only play BA with a friend who I know IRL or that I know has some common sense. I pick one role, he picks the complimentary one and we ALWAYS call. Then I just pray that the teamates don't screw up and generally it works very well.
  24. Yeah it's such a cheap knock-off. I mean runescape is medival and wow is medival too!! And both use magic!! Man it's such a rip off
