You could at least debate in a civil manner, this is inexcusable. If you think the thread is "stupid" don't participate on it. Just like you lose money off machine replacements for human jobs? A whip is a superior weapon, so you can earn money faster with it. You have to take that into account as well. Back to the example, your whip's value is 2m only in the eyes of others, because that's what they'll pay for it. It's worth as much to you as it was the day you bought it, because only cost lowers, not value. I'm not feeling up to par, so my wording isn't quite right, but I hope you catch my drift.
-
No, but I'm not sure how to make this more clear. 1. You spend 40m on a whip. 2. Whips drop to 2m. 3. You sell your whip for 2m, because that's its current monetary value. You have 38m less than before. 4. You repurchase your whip for 2m. You've lost nothing, as you haven't spent any additional money, and you still own your whip. This is assuming you'd sell your whip in the first place, but I can't imagine why anybody would want to.

Essentially ending player-killing was the greatest thing they have done yet in my opinion. The worst thing they have ever done has been adding PVP Worlds. Now they've shown us that if we whine enough we get whatever we want. Bounty Hunter wasn't good either.
-
Yeah, but we're not talking about money. A whip is a whip no matter how much you payed in the past. Such an item can not lose usefulness, just monetary value, and when you have no intention of parting with your whip for the decreased monetary value you can not have lost anything.
-
You are only thinking of value in monetary terms.
-
This is why I specifically made my point based on a whip. It's the staple weapon; once you own one you're not as likely to sell it back as you may be with something like a bag of silver.

Were this to occur, and were it to be brought about by a quest series like Recipe for Disaster, it's not like Jagex is going to copy and paste romy's idea. Don't over-think it. :P -
Well in that definition its losing but if you buy a 5m item your total value stays the same but you "lost" money. Of course the value is the same to you. If you bought a whip for 5m, even if it only costs 1m, you still don't think of it as a greater weapon than a newer 1m whip, right? At least it's not a "z0mg a nubcake insultz me im go cry on tip.it" thread. ;)

Agreed. Everything can always be made more convenient, but after a certain point it's not worth whining about.
-
You over-did it, but you have made a good argument. However, this game is mainly geared towards an English-speaking demographic, so I'm not sure that's as valid as the original poster's point.
-
It is my view that any time you spend money, you're losing. Every time you hold on to items that are even up to stagnate, not necessarily dropping, you are losing money unless you manage to make money using said item. Any time when you have not invested your cash to its fullest potential, you have indeed lost that possible cash.

I've got to say, this would be my preference, but only if they were accessible from something other than treasure trails. Your original point was good though, and I do wish something like this would come around. However, I literally do dance like the current RuneScape emotes. I always have. -
I think Jagex must have rushed through developing this minigame even more than their other projects. It's been nothing but a flaw since it was released.

I just found out, my frontal lobe was fully developed at birth. : I do prefer to believe that humans are more than genetics, but I can see your point, compfreak. This is a great idea actually. If we could make one of these, I could just avoid it and only look at real rants.
-
This is exactly right. Player-killing is not my style, but were I to kill players I'd laugh as I profit, they lose their items, and they retain their "honor."
-
Meh, I was never the sullen, moody, irrational, rude, crude, et cetera person at any point in my life. This behavior is inexcusable; if I can resist falling into the abyss of stupidity, so can everyone else. However, because RuneScape attracts so many morons, there's very little we can do to change the situation. I'm growing weary of the constant barrage of 'Somebody insulted me, now I'll make a post on TIF about it!' threads.
-
Ok. That is completely irrelevant. That is not irrelevant at all, you simply missed his point. With not enough tests performed, the result is dubious at best. I wish people would think before they tell others that their contributions are worthless. :wall: I found it humorous actually and a good example of what's wrong with the original numbers in this thread.

Of course I read it all before posting. -.- I don't believe that the "degradation" you speak of is occurring though. The idiots aren't growing any more moronic, nor are the literate ones any wiser. The ratio is essentially the same as it's been since Miniclip introduced pre-teens to RuneScape. It's unnatural to care whether or not we believe you unless you think you've earned something for having played that long. That's the reason I questioned your motives behind the repeated claims to have started playing early.

1. Archeology would bore me. 2. This has even less basis than sailing. 3. It's not like Jagex mods ever have a clue what's going on anyway. 4. You're trying too hard.
-
I've never seen how a duel has proved anything. If they do take you up on it, it will only make the situation worse. I am one of those people who literally has "something better to do;" player-versus-player bores me. On topic though, ranting about immaturity is pointless. As was said earlier, if you still can't get over it after eight years, you've got issues. And why do you have to keep making such a point of beginning in 2001? Do you want respect for that? I've never understood why people think that having played a long time should earn them anything.
-
I think you're trying too hard.

The thread was created because of posts like this. :wall:

I question why this topic was created. It was obviously going to degrade into spam, as was immediately proved by the first reply. You want thoughts on the banner? I think Jagex should stop wasting time creating them, make a simple and long-lasting banner that says "RuneScape," and use that saved time to remove annoying glitches such as Dagon'hai Robes coming through Achievement Capes.
-
You only got a single loop and a single tooth-half in a year? :o Surely you didn't play very much.
-
Even the posts that claim how important spelling is have mistakes in them. #-o I do not tolerate spelling mistakes on obvious words. If someone misspells something and it looks like "oilgopoly" or "pianisimo" I can forgive them that. If I see intentional spelling errors, such as using the letter Z to pluralize, using "1337 speak," or such replacements as "u" for "you," "r" for "are," et cetera, I will simply not tolerate it. I'm very friendly normally, but if you come up to me and say "Will u sell me sum nats pl0x???" I'm not likely to even respond. What bothers me more than intentional marring of the English language is the use of "lol" though. When I see "I'm out of nature runes; I've got to run to the Grand Exchange, lol!" and some other idiot responds with "Lmao!!!" it is literally all I can do to contain myself.
