I do see all of your points, but as I said if you're just a casual user who doesn't do anything special, Linux can be a little complicated if you don't want to learn (and if you don't want to learn, Linux is never a good choice..). To OP, you could always just try Linux, run it off a live CD or dual boot and see if you like it. Keep a copy of windows on your HDD if you want to play games or use applications that aren't supported by linux.

I see now how the question is somewhat ambiguous, and it's open to interpretation. Saying that, it is kind of impossible to answer seeing as they don't specify whether they want you to do 48/(2(9+3)) or (48/2)(9+3)... I'd still go with 288 though, seems more logical with BIDMAS.

To be honest, I doubt you'll find much speed increase with anything over 1600MHz RAM. I can play games absolutely fine with my setup (Q6600,4GB RAM,5850) and my RAM is DDR2 and 667MHz :P Thus I think 1600MHz DDR3 will be fine.

Yeah all the phones should be fine. You can always revert it if they don't - but they will. My concerns are about the broadband phones but those are bt too (and plug and play) so they'll be fine too.

I would agree with most of that, apart from Maybe the UI is a bit simpler, but for the day-to-day user with little computer-related knowledge, Linux is harder to use to do more complex things. Also, for your average user, there's less software out there - most of it is designed for windows.

Changing recoveries to random strings of letters/numbers/symbols with no real links to the question would be the best. Also the 7 day PIN thing. Log into your account (as I assume you do) at least once a week just to double check. He'll give up eventually.

Servers are Linux, and their PCs are using Windows Vista (probably Windows 7 now) I believe. I saw a picture of the Jagex offices a while back and it showed a developer's PC. No matter what OS the servers or dev pc's run - the game is coded in (a variant of) java, so it should be compatible with Linux distros, windows and mac.

I would recognise 200m XP in all skills as an achievement, obviously. But who can honestly say that they would actually enjoy getting 200m RC xp? It's pretty mind-numbing stuff. I would question why bother putting yourself through all the boredom? And also, surely people have better things to do than spend a very large amount of time in a computer game, while not actually having fun...?

Of course I've been tempted to cheat, as with any game. I've never carried through though because I've worked for a while on my account so far, and I don't want to have it have many achievements, like 99's, but achievements that were not of my doing and were botted, thus pretty much worthless. And then there's the whole thing about my account that I've worked for ages on getting banned - never a good thing.

From what I can tell the people still ingame will have their savefiles saved as normal, and also people who logged out before have their savefiles saved, therefore it seems nothing was lost.. in theory.

It depends on what phone you're talking about. The normal phones that just plug into the phone lines would be fine. The BT Homehub phones that connect to your homehub and use a different number to your normal 'landline' phone.. I assume they would work 100%, although I couldn't vouch for that.

Without it, merchanting would be a lot easier/quicker - so that part of me says yes. But merchants with tonnes of money could easily manipulate prices, which is not good. The whole limiting thing is not ideal, but it's needed.

Both the i5 2500k and the i7 2600k are great CPU's - I don't think you're going to loose a ton if you go with the i5. You'll definately want third party very good quality CPU cooling - those Sandy Bridge's go crazy high overclocked. Also - I wouldn't base your build around the motherboard, instead base your motherboard around your build. That way you aren't confined to parts that are supported by your motherboard. Definitely go with Intel as opposed to AMD for CPU for high end games, as was said above. For around $750 on graphics cards, definitely look into the 6990. Skimming over a couple of benchmarks the 6990 looks a bit faster than the 590, although both are amazing cards and perhaps a little OTT, it depends on what you want out of them. To your initial question about RAM being intended for Intel but used with AMD - there should be no problem at all so long as the processor supports speed and type of RAM.

By the sounds of it, your graphics card is at fault because it isn't powerful enough. I can't see the image you posted, so I don't really know your specs..

Yes, but I'd imagine that you'd need to keep signing on to the network each time you change security on each computer, so it would be a pain. It can be done though.

If you're talking PS3 or Xbox, then no. Black ops lets you upload clips up to 2 minutes I think (or around there), but I'm assuming you want full gameplays. You need to buy a bit of hardware to record games otherwise. I've seen ones in the UK as cheap as around £30 though. At above, you don't really need a black magic cap card to start off with - IIRC they're quite expensive.

Hmm... my concern with that would be that if it's a particularly sophisticated virus, it could infect your own computer without you really knowing (seeing as AV doesn't pick it up).

You're out in the countryside (I assume, what with the closest server being milton keynes/newbury) and the internet can be slower out there. All I can really suggest is completely unplugging your router + modem and plugging em back in. Check you haven't changed any settings around in the router/modem settings. Also, if you're with Tiscali, I don't know if they rent out lines from BT or something, so BT could be doing maintenance on their lines.. although Tiscali would probably know about that.

I'm using ubuntu on my laptop and it does have quite a steep learning curve. I can't say how easy it is to use after that curve seeing as I'm still somewhere at the bottom of it :P Windows 7 is very nice to use, tons of programs support it and its quite fast. There's probably a majority of programs for windows. Mac OS involves buying a mac, so I would just say no (let's not go there again).

I don't really think the Sara Sword is great for strength training - unless you are a pure. If you aren't a pure, then just use a whip with controlled style. Slayer is good for getting charms.

Yes of course, it's all in the options for the BT HomeHub. I'd explain how but I'm not currently at home.. instructions will be in the internet somewhere. It'll be under the security tab, either in options or in advanced options - I'm not sure.

It shouldn't mess it up at all. I doubt anyone really wants to hack into your internet. That said, it is easier to hack and less secure. I think you'd be fine either way. The wire may get annoying with you having to sit next to the router when you play (I assume that's how it works). It is of course all up to you, that's just my opinion.
