did you read the rules?

Featured Replies

When you first started playing RS did you read all the rules and the guides to get started or did you just dive in and start playing and learn as you went along?

I'm pretty sure I just dived in, and learnt them intuitively. I think most of them are common sense, but there are a couple (real world item trading for instance) that you learn from in the occasional "Banned Players" news updates, or from other players in game, etc.

I read all the rules and some of the FAQs on the Official Site prior to playing. Since RuneScape is (was) my first MMOG, I wanted to know what was the difference between it and other competing games. One point that made RS unique was the hardware requirements: you only need enough to run the Java RTE, which is great since playing the newest and coolest game cannot justify the cost of a new computer. Plus, the idea of playing a game for free was appealing too!

You thought there were no rules?

I might have had a brief look, but I figured they would be the normal common sense rules, and I did read them befor to long. I think I read them befor I worked up the corage to really talk to people.

Didn't read them, I use my common sense

I read the rules and quite a lot of the guides actually as I could only read stuff about RuneScape at school, I wasn't allowed to use the internet then #-o .

Rules are rules, just use common sense. I didn't immediately read them before playing if memory serves right, but obviously eventually got around to it.

Hell no. O:)

I just read about 2 sentences and hit accept when I made my account.

I just dived in & started playing, but got around to them eventually.

Thanks to WithTheQuickness for the sig!

I read every single line of the rules and manual... :P

i found this game on miniclip.com, so i just dove in without reading anything. i have still never read all of the rules except for inside the report abuse button and ive been playing for more than a year, but i use the manual and the tip.it items and monsters guides all the time since i discovered them about six months ago.

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.

Nope, I never read rules for anything. I act mature and not an idiot, and never got punished.

I definitly dived right into the game, but i had a friend showing me the ropes so he probably taught me most of the rules. I did eventually get around to reading all of them about a year ago, which is kinda sad since i have been playing for about 5 years

Not at all. In rsc there was a lot of "rule ads" instead of the current commercial adds, so you just had to look at the ads and you would know them. It's obvious stuff anyway, no need to read them...

I didn't read em right away when I started, but I did after not too long.

I read them right away I didn't even know what half of them really were. macros...

The others were just plan obivous to me.

Rules? Nah common sense will tell me wads right and wrong
