June 27, 200719 yr lol.... i find it funny how poor and desperate ppl are these days.... back in the day, (2001) i got cracked twice and got 2 blue phats. Me being the genius i am, sold one, (really cheap back then - 500) and traded one for a green and red. Me and my bro still have that red, along with another he made with his own money. IN addition, we have at last count 4 santa hats (one from original drop, another from a lucky pk, and a few bought with hard earned money), a few easter eggs, and 2 full sets of masks (We snatched them up right after the drop). We have never sold a rare except to buy another rare. Yet, we have millions in cash. its called HARD WORK!!! try it some time. all you fools say "i'm poor". Well, try some elbow grease. It isn't THAT hard to make money in rs!!!! do barrows, do treasure trails. get 85 mining. (FREE!!) THEN you can do wtvr you want. but knowing you all, you would simply waste that money on 99 construct or something... "Buying" skills is a complete sign of total stupidity. Check out my bro's character. Of all his skills, not one was bought. Oh no. His 109 combat? trained WITHOUT the use of pc. 91 range? guess who made the arrows. 60 prayer? HA! 0 bought bones. 92 magic? guess who made the alc runes. firemaking skill? He cut the wood for it. Construction? Practically our whole family cut wood for him. Mining? Powermining. Day after day. hour after hour. Ok you get the point. In my opinion everyone who has replied to this thread with either "I'd sell and get 99" or "I'd treasure it 4eva" either needs to get some work ethic, or get a life. Its a freakin GAME!!! that your friend just QUIT!! Do you think he gives a **** what YOU do with an item in a [developmentally delayed]ed game that HE just QUIT??? if you need material goods to remember someone..... can you still call yourself a friend? So anyways, hard work = money. Don't forget it. [Admin Edit: Referrals are not permitted on the Tip.it Forums]
June 27, 200719 yr I would keep it forever unless he was just giving me it to put it on once then I'd give it back. Pirate Rosetta stone. Learn a language while you scape.Sounds interesting, but these days how many people really speak Pirate?
June 27, 200719 yr This is just my sentimentsl opinion, but I feel that if they had gotten the p Hat before they were worth more than 100k, iId keep it forever, but if they had bought it for a large amount, I'd sell it; it would only be an investment. It would feel sorta dirty... That's what it takes to be a hero, a little gemof innocence inside of you that makes you wantto believe that there still exists a right and wrong, that decency will somehow triumph in the end.--Lise Hand
June 27, 200719 yr I voted wear for a while then sell because it's only pixels and it's not like I'll never see or hear from my friend again, he lives like half a mile away lol. But if they meant my best friend in Runescape, then sadly, she has already left, me and another friend of hers have seemed to realise she is avoiding us for inknown reasons, always having her p chat off.

(Well, we would if it wasn't summer.) But if they meant my best friend in Runescape, then sadly, she has already left, me and another friend of hers have seemed to realise she is avoiding us for inknown reasons, always having her p chat off.
June 27, 200719 yr I'd refuse to take it. there are no stupid questions just way too many inquisitive idiots balance is scary to people who like things easy for them
June 27, 200719 yr I would sell it, make a Red of my Green and keep the money. Money is usefull 8-) . Oh yes, and 99 Crafting. Here's my blog: restoring it soon | Achieved 99 Crafting Quoting yourself is laaaaame
June 27, 200719 yr We're not saying hard work is bad. Right now I'm fishing and cooking monkfish to get to 99. We're just saying that we would like some extra cash to help so we wouldn't waste as much time. Ps: If you don't spend it on skills or armor, what do you spend your money on? I would put a cool link here but I don't know how.
June 27, 200719 yr I would keep it as it was a gift from a friend and that means more to me than money does and if they start playing again I would give it back.
June 27, 200719 yr Offocurse, if a friend "gave" me a partyhat, and were not quitting I would havre kept it, but if my best rs friend gave me a partyhat when he quittet, I would have sold it and spended the money, 'cause I dont think he would have given it to me so it could sit in my bank becoming dust.
June 27, 200719 yr I would definately sell it. Money is the thing that drives most people in RS. Although I appreciate that my friend chose me to give the hat to, I'm not a big fan of collecting rare antiques. Sell it I would, if obtain one I could.
June 27, 200719 yr Keep it forever. Unlike most of you money hungry people. A gift from a friend, especially one kind enough just to give the party hat to you should deserve no less but to see you hold onto it. Especially if (s)he ever comes back, it'll mean alot to them and yourself to know you actually kept it for all that time without selling it. But I guess a majority of the posters (before this post) could care less what their friends meant to them. -.- They just don't give you something so you can go sell it five minutes later.. It's a symbol of friendship. It's a damn shame for you to think otherwise, and I pity you for it. It's Runescape. You don't even know these people good. It's not your irl friend giving you his pet cat because he goes on a holiday (if you kill/ eat/ sell that, you are cruel). I would keep it for a while (screenies, bragging) then sell it for cash. There's a lot I could do with 200m. :-s Maybe try re-reading the poll. "If your best friend quit Runescape and gave you a party hat:" Maybe people have better 'best friends' only in Runescape, I don't know for sure, but when I read that I really do believe they were talking more-so towards real life. Besides, what does it matter if it is just "Runescape" they are still your friends. Even if I didn't know them outside of Runescape. I would rather remember the memories we did have rather then just sell them off like yourself and the majority of people in this poll. Because when it comes down to it friends make the world go around, and make this game much more enjoyable. But maybe you would rather have pixels? I'd accuse you of being a horrible friend, but I won't. But you don't really give me the impression to believe otherwise.. Well, first of all I have no "best friend" in rs. Just a couple of people I get along with. To me a friend is someone you can do a lot of stuff with, joke around with but also have more serious conversations with. Since all you can do (I do) with the people in rs is joke around, I would consider them buddies at most. But a real friend? No. Don't get me wrong though; I would never steal the phat or scam in any other way. The people I meet in RS are what makes the game so much more fun. But if one of them leaves and gives me his phat, bye bye phat and hello 99 construction. None of my rl friends so I can't speak for that. And I have no RS friends that have a phat anyway :P . But of course, everyone has his own opinion. Retired 2146 overall - 136 combat - 6 skillcapes Plus I think the whole teenage girl thing will end soon (hopefully), because my girlfriend is absolutely in love with him(she is 18), and im beginning to feel threatened by his [Justin Bieber] dashing looks.
June 27, 200719 yr I'd actually wear the p-hat for a day. The next day, I'd make a level 3 character with a n00b name. Then transfer the phat to it. I'd wear the phat and take a run for the level 50 wildy fence, and see how far I'd make it... 8-) If some sort of miracle allowed me to make it there and back, then and only then would I sell it. Otherwise, I didn't lose anything, right?
June 27, 200719 yr We're not saying hard work is bad. Right now I'm fishing and cooking monkfish to get to 99. We're just saying that we would like some extra cash to help so we wouldn't waste as much time. Ps: If you don't spend it on skills or armor, what do you spend your money on? we saved up and bought a santa hat for 5 mill right after construction came out. In a week they cost 10 mill. Some of course was used on construction for turning wood into planks and buying rooms, etc. besides that, we pretty much save it all up and buy the occasional rare. June 28, 200719 yr Well, tbh if a freind QUIT and gave me a Blue P-Hat, I would sell it and get a White Phat. For 2 reasons - - Well, I like White Phats better than blue, so buying a cooler Phat for cheaper is good. - Any best freind I would have would definitly not want me to have the second most expensive item in RS sitting in my bank, doing nothing else. I would, of course wear it (screenies/fun etc). But if he came back to RS id ask for another day with the blue phat, sell the white and get another blue to give back to him ^_^.
June 28, 200719 yr I'd sell it right away. I'd buy everything I ever wanted..including the thing I want most, 99 construction. Lots of people are saying "I'd refuse." Sure, there's some people out there that would do that, but I find it hard to believe that all of you would.
June 28, 200719 yr i would sell it, merchant with the money gained from it, and buy more phats, then if my friend came back i would give him one of the same colors he gave me and profit off of him :P lol u make it sound so easy... VERY FEW PEOPLE WILL SELL THEIR PHATS. I've tried ( of course ive never got that much mny but i when i ask they all say NFS)
June 28, 200719 yr I would keep it for sure....I wouldn't want to sell it anyways its a rare. Plus my white phat needs a friend anyways....its lonely sitting alone in the bank. 2176th to 99 Prayer on June 21st, 2007Proud Owner of a White Partyhat and Fire Cape~29 Whips~16 Dragon Drops
June 28, 200719 yr Many people say they would keep it forever to remember their friend or something, I'd sell it. I think the friend that quit would be more happy if I had fun with selling it and buying skills, instead of you know, keep it as a token. No, I really don't play anymore.
June 28, 200719 yr Even if i buy it / found it / pk it i would still keep it forever Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username? 99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/
June 28, 200719 yr I would keep it if it was white, wearing it with my desert boots, mime gloves, bronze body and legs, legends cape, sara book and some sort of white weapon :D If it was another colour.. I probably would give it to a lvl 3 noob, fresh from tuturial island, not knowing what it is, just for the fun of it.. After all, it's only runescape, which i play for fun, not to become the best/richest player ever know.
June 28, 200719 yr That happened to me last fall. Buddybear (ex-tipiter) quit and gave me his yellow phat. (why me, I don't know, probably because im the "poorest" player at such a high rank) I sold it after 2 days for 144mil. I only wore it a couple of times cause its a boring, ughly thing, which infinity hat, jesters, and even the boaters "own". I gave 60mil and my guthans set to a dear friend, laikrob (a tipiter). I bought a masters wand, and bones for 99 prayer (back when they were 2k+ ea) and had about 40 mil left over (which I wasted away at castle wars -.- ). It spoiled runescape for me though. Raising prayer felt like a cheat code, not hard earned conquest. I got to around 93-94 prayer and stopped playing for a long time. I slowly came back and worked prayer up to 98 grudgingly at my altar. I then gave the rest of the bones to laikrob since I wanted 99 to feel like an accomplishment. I pc'ed level 99 over 3 weeks and that felt more like an accomplishment since it takes alot more effort and time than using bones with an altar. Exclusive Legacy Mode Player He just successfully trolled you with "courtesy" and managed to get a reaction out of you. Lol
