June 25, 200719 yr Well, none of my friends play rs. But I'd sell mine if I had one. Then I'd buy a santa hat and a green mask. Then I'd buy all the barrows sets, work on my skills, and merchant. Actually I stink at merchanting so I'd just use it for more skills. I would put a cool link here but I don't know how.
June 25, 200719 yr ok, so maybe I'm a cold-hearted, insensitive... guy, but whats the point in keeping a p-hat? even if it is from a friend? its a completely useless item that's worth millions. I would sell it immediately and use the money to get all the items I've always wanted but could never afford. after getting those, I'd use it to level important skills. here is why: 1. as mentioned above, the item is useless. it can prove how rich you are, but I didn't buy it. it can prove how long you've played, but I didn't get it that way either. its a status symbol I don't need worth 100M+ which I do need. 2. it might be a memento from a friend, but that friend no longer plays the game (the poll was "what if your friend quit runescape?") and so I can only assume s/he really has no preference about what I do with the item. maybe my friend gave it to me because it is a fantastically valuable item and its a waste to delete it, maybe because s/he knew I could use all that cash. none of my friends would be the type to get upset if I sold a p-hat, even if they were the ones that gave it to me. 3. the money I get from selling it would help make me that much better. I could get full dragon, barrows up the yin-yang, and all sorts of supplies for leveling my skills. to me, that is way way way more important than having a 100M+ item languishing in my bank. for all these reasons and more, I would sell sell sell. reaching goals and achieving success is what drives me to play this game, and a p-hat would be worth a lot more to me after I sell it :D
June 26, 200719 yr If any of my friend ever actually played and then quit and gave me a phat, I would have to say I would wear it a while and then sell it, cause the two friends I have that play some would be giving it to me to make some money from, they are both in great debt with me. And I also do not have that kind of bank space, unfortunitly im the kind of person that if it serves no purpose other than looks I normally dont keep it, with the exception of my tribal outfit. Current goal: Getting enough prayer pots to finish my last four quests. Come to the dark side. We have cookies and flashlights.

I would sell the party hat, and buy a different one for lesser value (i.e. sell a red and buy a purple) so I still keep a party hat, but I have a fair amount of cash to spend on who knows what. So I guess I could be classified as the first option, but I thought it was different.

June 26, 200719 yr I wouldn't even take it. I would leave it with his account. I could not take such a thing. If by some means, he did get myself to accept it. I would not once wear it, I would put it at the top of my bank, surrounding my most valuables. Then I would wait till the die I died, or he came back to runescape, and them moment I first see him log in, I tell him to go to a place and a world, and give it back, before any conversations are started. ^^

If it was just a random gift....I would keep it until I got bored of it. Then sell it and get an expensive 99 like prayer. If it was just to borrow....I would give it back when they wanted it back. June 26, 200719 yr If they gave me one i'd wear it for ages, but if i needed cash for something i may sell it, dunno, probably end up waiting for it to go up and buying a cheaper one and using the cash left over to spend on something fun. They would have given me the hat so i could sell it im pretty sure, no one buys it cos it looks good because 420m for a hat that "looks cool" is a waste.

Certainly an expensive gift like that, selling that is like selling the friendship (so actually, it depends how big the friendship was, but must be good if he gives you a phat set).
