If dad goes for a walk with his daughter and holds her hand, apparently Virginia Department of Health officials wants you to pick up the phone and destroy his life by reporting him as a possible sexual abuser. I wouldÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve thought this article about this campaign was from the Onion or some satirical publication, but itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s for real.

 

 

 

One of the most beautiful pictures IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve ever seen is a picture of my father walking on the beach near sunset holding my daughterÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s little hand. I don't really think this is something nice to discuss on a forum to tell you the truth but to answer your question I don't agree with the article.

 

 

 

Young kids read this forum...ItÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s not a particularly comfortable subject to talk about for me yet alone victims and younger people who will read this.

 

 

 

I can see how this article angers you in one way but I can also see how this article may hurt people in a much more personal way.

- Better safe than sorry, just tell the person that she's your daughter

- The picture is the only thing that really says anything about 'holding hands', the rest just seems like prevention, I think the 'holding hands' was more directed at advertising.

I don't wan't to live in a world where to great someone of the opposite gender I have to put on a blind fold and shake their hand with a 10 foot pole. Maby they should look up the definitions for for assult and sexual abuse. The media, government and the public are overly obsessed with pedophillia. There is NOTHING wrong with holding your daughters hand, or taking pioctures of your children at the beach, comforting a child which is upset about something. When I was in Nerja in Spain, which is quite a quiet part, like a small town, localas were letting their kids walk about the square with nothing on. I was thinking "eh?" admitedly but obviously they see these things differently to us, hahah.

 

You are right mate, it's a much rarer occurrance than we make it out to be, and because it's such an unspoken topic the media are all over it, brandishing people and giving them a decade in prison for crap all. I'm not saying there arn't any real abusers, but christ it's overhyped.

So basically its now illegal for a father to hold his daughter's hand and illegal for a slightly older boyfriend (say 16) to hold his girlfriend's hand.
