How much is Jagex in it for the money?

Featured Replies

Ok well I've have been thinking about this, and now with the update membership thing I decided to finally post.

With all of the recent updates, especially focusing on the dragon full helm and god sword is jagex making updates to get more members and money; more now then ever before. To take this into consideration they said that no more dragon armour would come out, well what do yah know the full helm comes out. Also the god sword; this is like an amazingly amazing weapon, which is often in lots of other fantasy games. These recent updates (I know I'm forgetting one) really seem to be aimed towards getting members rather then being quality updates.

Post you opinions.

god wars was quality update nubby :P . Yes, now they are going for the money, but meh, as long as the updates are decent i could care less =P~

I don't think they're in it for the money, i think they finnaly are listening to higher players, i mean we've been getting decent updates lately, so it's all good :). And if they are in for the money, i don't mind, atleast it's worth paying 5̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì a month now.

Some people dream of success, while others make it happen.

Exactly, they need to focus more on the issues besides that. But who actually thinks they will =;

^ These high level updates are to get more members, probably not to please the ones they already have.

Happy to find I'm not the only one who eats glass.

Lol, there's actually a better reason why they're doing this.

If you've payed attention to the forums for the past year or so, it's been chock full, jam-packed, stuffed to the brim with rants about "NO HIGH LEVEL UPDATESSS OMG JAGEX HATZ US!!!!11"

They're (IMO) just trying to satisfy us...

Btw, they have been quality updates though..it's not like they just have kinda lame journey but a good outcome...GWD is incredible from what i hear.

To sum things up, since updates take minimum of a half a year about, jagex is just now combating all the rants that have been taking place, because once they see that people are getting unhappy with the current updates, they set to work on high level updates, but those can't be released for a while. So we're getting them right now.

Remember they gotta pay all their workers and keep the servers up. they need the cash. most of the updates were quality updates. i dont see whats wrong. just because you don't use the godsword or draogn full, doesn't mean its a crud update. other people use it too, and bored high level adventurers can go to mith dragons or the god wars dungeon as a more exciting way to make a profit. there are a lot of different opinions, so its not right to say that because you don't use it it means its a useless update.

tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :(
But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities.
That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. Those PETA bastards will never see it coming until the porcupines are half way up their asses.

Apparently a lot of people say it. I own.

http://linkagg.com/ Not my site, but a simple, budding site that links often unheard-of websites that are amazing for usefulness and fun.

Any company who's not in it to make money won't stay in business long.

Of course it's somewhat about money, if you had the possibility of making millions, you'd go for it. But that doesn't mean that they also don't care about the game either. Whenever I see Andrew post it's almost always about how much he cares about the game. I do think they 'lost touch' with the community for a while, but for considering how many players they have to cater for, they're doing an amazing job at trying to get back in touch with the players. :)

Ok well interesting to hear the replies, and yes I know they have to be in it for the money to a certain degree to me it just seems as if they are coming out with things that really tend to mess up the economy and get more members.

More than they used to be. :-#

true, but they're not in in only for the money like some people say.

The Evil Jagex strikes once again  .

I still don't think jagex is in it only for the money, and you can say well they make 60millon dollars+ a year, well subtract employee payment, maintences and the virtual space.

Then again it is bussiness and you have to keep bread on the table so you don't want to make less money then you did the previous year.

Some of you need to wait until your older then you'll see life is about money you can't live without it, and ye they are in it for the money but they are also looking after their main interest the players happiness.

We all benefit from them and vice versa =D>

They are making a fortune and they could sit back and rake it in, but they are spending it on making another game, which will provide more quality entertainment as well as more cash :-k so I guess you'll never know unless you ask each and every employee I am sure the ones from the beginning feel like RuneScape is more then a profit, and for some it is just a job.

But as long as there is always someone who cares in charge, the game will grow, yes for a year people where crying out for high lvl updates but they have to remember it takes a year to make them, so if you think about it they answered our call fast, so realize they do listen just that things are not instant.

Jagex does NOT just care about money, I have 2 peices of evidence(if more is needed please tell me)

1: There was NO way to get back your oily rod or snail oil(or slime), then I personally sent a message to jagex and they added a way to get it back :D (after about a week) :P

2: The pendant of armydyle was unattainable for a while because alot of people sided with lucien in Temple of Ikov or lost it, then jagex noticed the players were complaining and fixed it.

Proof that they listen.

When you mentioned the Dragon Plates I had a sudden vision of a load of gangsters running around in fancy dress yealling "Grim Reaper in da hood!"

Jagex is a company. Companies try to make money....lets use the transitive property..Jagex tries to make money

Mizzou is ballin'!

Illini are fallin'!

Kansas is dead.

The Majority of the members population in runescape is probably rather low, and like someone said above me, instead of trying to please this group of people, their pleasing the higher levels, which will make the lower leveled and majority of runescape, play more to get their levels up to do these updates.

I believe theirs a thread here in general in which the author thinks this weeks poll is for a high quest, it all makes more sense really now, I mean alot of people don't even know about the Rsof or other membership benefits, so it would be wise as a company, who needs money to give us updates to bump up the subscription part of the site.

Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.

I think its more of a matter of pleasing the high levels that where asking for high level updates for so long. Jagex heard the cry, started working on it, and several months later, here we are

I don't think money had much to do with it at all, if anything, they wanted to keep high levels suscribed to memebers, no get new memberships.

when did they "fix" that? and how do you get the pendant back?

oh and is there a way to get the dwarven rock cake after finishing rfd yet?

More than Valve, less than Blizzard

)thinking about 75 or 70pct money then 25 or 30 pct players (only because of f2p players they hardly ever get good updates  )

If jagex wasn't "IN" it for the money, we still be in classic \'

Jagex never once said they wouldnt add any more dragon items, they said to stop suggesting them and they had a list of the CURRENT dragon items.

They said these are all the dragon items currently in game, and every one assumed that ment they wouldnt add more, most players that arnt noobs knew that jagex would continue to release dragon items.

While you don't get many updates, F2P have a had a lot of updates this past month or two.

On topic:

Of course they want to make money, but they are listening to the players now. IMO, from around November 06 - May 07 was the "dark ages", where Jagex did not listen to anyone and the updates were, well quite bad, not to mention the terrible Christmas event.

100%?

If they weren't in it for the money, they never would have started this game.

More than they used to be. :-#

Unfortunately, this is true.

But we have to keep in mind that they are a business coorperation, and that's what companies like them are around for: to make money off their product(s)

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?
