I do think that people with level 99 fishing will become more common, but that this update won't cause an explosion of people with 99 fishing. Because even if you can get the skilling materials, in this case feathers, easy and cheap, you still need the patience to use them for xp. And you need very much xp for 99 in fishing.

The main point most people are saying, is that it's a virtue most people don't have. Therefore the increase of 99 fisher's as an inadvertant result of this update, is not likely to happen. If someone really wanted 99 fishing, they could by their feathers >almost< just as easily without unlimited stock.

Agreed with peronix. I see loads of people at Shilo these days fishing. But I doubt they will last to get 99 fishing, maybe some do.

you are simply stating that it got easier to 'buy' 99 fishing. most people can buy 99 cooking, but theres so many people who dont have it. most people could buy 99 fletching or fm, but that doesnt mean its becoming common (yes it is more common, but still many people dont have it even though they can afford it.) it wont become a more common cape because after buying the stuff you still need to follow through with using it all. so i say no, fishing cape isnt becoming more common.

gonga jew was already 98.99 fishing when barbarian fishing was introduced. Barbarian fishing is not well-known, but it is well-known to be the fastest fishing method in the game.

 

 

 

Also, if you are going to talk about recognition of new updates, why not talk about super restore pots? they were considered largely useless when jagex brought them to the game with briwhaven agility arena, they were brought to masses with the introduction of farming skill, but for more than a year they still sold for LESS than a prayer pot. Why? same reason some top fishers still fish in shilo. Same thing with herb seeds- i got all my snapdragon and ranarr seeds for less than 10k each- people hated farming, but now what? even the richest people in runescape go around to their seasonal herb harvesting trips.

yes, they are easy, but thats not my point at all. people can buy the materials for 99 fishing (feathers), 99 fletching (logs and bs), 99 fm (logs) etc. its using up all those materials which is the hardest part which is why i say it isnt common. anyone who had the drive to get 99 fishing wouldnt not do it because they needed to buy from other people instead of a shop.

it might become more common with ftpers but i doubt it will have much of an impact on p2pers as most will use monks or big netting or some other faster method. Feathers really havent been a problem to get in bulk, even before the update. You could get 100k feathers frequently for 6 or 7 ea(i bought 250k last year for 6ea) So i really dont thinkg the feathers will have much of an impact imho.

I just bought 253.5k feathers for 6gp ea in 10 minutes. I didn't use shop.

I dont think it will become to common. Weather its easy to buy, it still takes a long time.

Just about anybody can buy all the feathers, but they can't buy patience and determination. About 75% of the people that decide to get 99 Fishing never accomplish the goal or even get halfway there. Heck, they were probably like..."Hey i can get feathers so easy and fly fish all the way."

I totally agree with you here, because people buy the Feathers and are all happy and overjoyed then when they realize how much time and patience goes into getting the level itself you realize that it was a dumb mistake and you get pshyced out on how big the number of fish you have to get is...This happened with me when i went for 99 fm, got to 55 and had 38k more logs and was like, "Wow, forget this." That's usually the case. But then again they are some very persistant people out there. :shock:

in my opinion it's not the cost of feathers which there is not much difference in price in shops than it was from buying off of other players. like ppl have already said it's the patience to fish. the major incentive for a player to get any 99 skill is already in the game now. skillcapes. i got my 99 fletching a month before skillcapes were released and there were less then 5k 99 fletchers. now...in a year or so since they released skillcapes there are over 25k 99 fletchers. fletching has been around forever. it was considerably cheaper to buy the materials when i did than it is now. so price can't be the motivating factor.

No, because it was never the monetary cost that was the problem. It requires determination, focus and willpower which cant be bought, and which 11 year old miniclippers dont have, who sadly seem to make up a lot of the game's community.

I doubt 99 Fishing won't become common anytime soon. :|

no i dont think it will be pretty commom bcoz of yes you might buy all the feathers you want but you will need a lot of patience, dedication, will and free time to get 99 fishing

you've still got to fish a couple 100 thousand fish either way you do it so its not quite as quick as buy feathers > get 99 fishing. plus its not like it was hard to get the feathers in the first place, 15 minutes chicken bashing should sort you out with enough feathers to do a couple hours fishing (or at least it did with me).

i agree that money wont buy you patience.a freind of mine got 99 fishing and it took him months and months to get teh 99.he didnt no-life it but he must have mega patience.

Okay, so, right now i'm going for 99 fishing. I bought the 170k feathers i need about 2 weeks before the shop update, so I'm not one of those people who just do it because they can buy the feathers..

 

 

 

Anyways, the day after the shop update there were lots of low levels (and a few high ones) that came to fish, and they all said they got feathers from the store. One weekend later, and none of them have come back. It's still the same bunch of people as before, except -1, since she got 99 fishing... lol.

 

 

 

I also bought all my feathers from one guys on the forums... so it wasn't hard to do before the update. took me about 20 min. All i did was post and wait, and the offers came like wildfire.

 

 

 

So yeah, # of fishing capes going up?? yeah right. unless the people who already have'em buy more, the # of capes ingame won't be going up very fast.

 

 

 

 

 

P.S. If you decide to go for 99 fish, then well... just try not to think about the big picture. it can get depressing. Think level to level, even at level 91, it's still not that bothersome. Also, try doing your homework while you fish too. It helps.
