Will Off-Topic ever 'run out'?

Hey all.

I was just sitting here thinking "Damn, I haven't been here for almost a year and they're stilll coming up with new stuff to talk about in Off-Topic."

I can remember when there were topics like "Do you prefer Pepsi or Coke?" and all that... But, is there that many things that we're interested in talking about, anymore?

I mean, yeah, we'll all talk about the new books, movies and games; there's new ones every week, but will that fade away? Will we all end up not having an "Off Topic" forum?

What are your thoughts?

I'm finding it hard to explain this, so if anyone can interperet what I mean, can they explain a little better?

New sig to come!

I understand however, OT won't run out, unless politics, and all world issues cease to exist, which will take more then a few life times to complete, by which RS will be out-dated, and this forum would have fallen apart.

Anything Off-topic will exist, because whenever there is something relative, there is always something irrelative.

Politics, world issues, in-home country issues, world events, in-home country events, sports, and the large variety of miscellaneous topics. We will not run out of. ::'

Even if RS does cease to exist. tip.it wont. The community is strong, and they're planning to include more games over time anyway.

btw. coke, pepsi tastes like piss.

Well said. Tip.it is such an evolved community that it could actually break off Runescape, if the need ever arises. Off topic is simply a discussion of the world, and so long as the world continues to exist and 'live', new subjects will be created. The wonderful thing about our off-topic forum is that we have extended far beyond 'This or that', touching on social matters or major political issues.

And I agree, Pepsi does taste like piss.

That's like asking if you and your best friend or any family member won't have anything to talk about anymore. Granted none of us have that kind of relationship with each other, but it's the quantity of all of our ideas and everything that we just won't ever run out of things to talk about.

Well, it's obvious people aren't going to get convinced by a few internet blokes telling "Homosexuality is wrong" or "Socialism is the best economical system" or "Atheism is immoral". Such debates will always be held in vain, at least in these circles. But so is life, isn't it? People will always tend to be stubborn, and even the most open minded ones will argue: "yeah, I see your point, and it might be right, but...

However, what would OT be without the debating, without people defending their views come hell or high water?

As long as there is something to argue about, OT will exist. Even in extreme case, we'll always have news threads.

I don't think it has legs, so no.

You should get together with my Physics teacher. (He has horrible puns too!) Still made me laugh though.

I think the actual question has been answered sufficiently already, so on to the more important one.

Plain coke just tastes like semi-diluted water. Pepsi-Max all the way.

Cool.

Yeah, but people don't come on here, every day saying "Hey, how was your day at school, honey?" This forum isn't to "chat" as such, it's to "discuss". I find that the two differ, as chat is more relaxed and informal, whereas people tend to discuss on these forums.

It's as if most the very interesting/debatable topics have all died out and unless something huge happens soon, there's not gonna' be anything "great" to discuss. Here's another example, I remember the "Do you believe in God?" thread... I think it hit record amount of posts. This flicked EVERYBODYs switch and everybody posted and read it. There's nothing like that anymore. There's nothing big to talk about.

New sig to come!

If OT ever runs out of ideas, one can always serious consider removing the PG restriction on it.

Then it'd be just like /b/.

I vote we do that now.

GODLY LUCK.

I dont see why not. Fur teh lulz?

Nope it won't. Also as people come and go topics will get rehashed and new topics will come forward.

This.

Most topics you see are posted at least twice a month, and will continue to.

Then it'd be just like /b/.

Oh dear god no. However, most of the people here fit under that age group (12-14+), so you're probably right. Sadly enough.

I like where this is going <3:

You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write "(bleep) you" right under your nose. Try it sometime. I think, even, if I ever die, and they stick me in a cemetery, and I have a tombstone and all, it'll say "Holden Caulfield" on it, and then what year I was born and what year I died, and then right under that it'll say "(bleep) you."

No. Off-topic forums are like South Park; they always have new fodder ready-made by the world. That is, until we are all wiped out by global warming or a nuclear war...

You're wrong. The 3 things that can survive a nuclear war are cockroaches, Twinkies, and Tip.it.
