jessy87
Merchanters annoy me. I'm not overly bothered. i feel similar. however, i have had moments where i could profit from moments were i buy an item and sell them, so does that make me a merchant? no, for example. i sold my godsword to buy armadyl armor(full) and i couldnt get the skirt everything but the skirt, so i bought my sword back for like 1m less im sure this type of $ movement will be possible still, but is it merchanting? i guess it could be but i really wanted my sword back. bigtoy
:? I've been thinking through jagex's recent updates. Lets see, loot share, the assist system, the new dueling system-all of these reduce player to player contact, especially the grand exchange. In this system players from all over the game will post items in an in game "forum" so other players can buy, right? This will certainly narrow down merchanting, but certainly not to the point where players can buy a big stack of items and resell them low, right? Not to the point where rwters can't sell a bronze dagger for 50m right? Wrong! My theory is that jagex will actively limit the price range at which we can sell our items, meaning that it will be IMPOSSIBLE to make a reasonable profit merchanting (which like pures, stakers, staking and pest control) doesn't seem to be a real part of the game. :ohnoes: Commets? u couldnt be more wrong....they already said the new dueling rules the 3k thing atm u can still stake phats but they said when the grand exchange comes out it will influence the new duel arena by settiing the cost using player made market prices 522 to 99 slayer

TeeBeaun
If anything this update will help to reflect the actual market prices of items. And if they limit the prices things can be sold at it will still allow for some fluctuation. They obviously wont allow you to sell a DDS for 50 mil but it wouldnt surprize me if they allowed between 10k and 100k, or even more. Im excited about this update. It will allow those who are gathering the resources to be more in charge of how much they make off of the products and those buying to buy them at that price. Instead of having a middle person determine who gets what. The people directly invested in the trade will determine the value of the product. I say, let the market decide the cost of the goods, not the people looking for quick cash, that can only hurt the economy.

The think is that i'm sick and tired of Pancakes.. Then we'll just have to open a can of...... :XD: Anyways, I think we need more of these topics.... Seriously, we need more doomsayers, but we have nearly enough topics about staking and the GE, so I'll give you a new topic to discuss: Summoning is going to ruin the wilderness! Hunter360x
Meh i don't make my money merchanting so it's all good for me. As for those who do merchant...I suggest increasing some skills like smithing. Hmm, just a thought, this update will divert a lot of people to spending more time training less used skills such as smithing etc. In my opinion its for the best. meili
Nah, merchanting will not die but GE will potentially eliminate a lot of scams or at least allow Jagex to track scams better. The Runescape Wilderness - Meili's Blog

HoMM88
Merchanting is the ONLY f2p way to make money, like you'd work for 50$ per month in real life (skilling) when you can earn at least 100$ working half the time... My goals: 5M coins: 4350K+ coins 200k+ items - 2 dec 5M coins - 16 dec I have gotten my 5M by christmas. -bah this is only here for historical purposes now, I got 20m+ already "fail, well atleast the title,i wont read it with that colours""If you hadn't posted in rainbow I would actually give this a proper read""Colours suck."*I remove colours*"Where did all the colors go!? This is now 40% more likely to be tl;dr'd due to the lack of colors."

goldhawk
As several others have pointed out...THERE IS NO WAY TO MAKE DECENT CASH AS A F2p, unless you merchant or mine runite ore, it may be ok for members who can still make 500k+ / day without merchanting...but not for us f2ps. So think of us be4 you say "woohoo merchanting is dead... take that merchants" think of us f2pers. Now on to my actual point. Jagex made a minor oversight in the grand exchange's market prices, it is that if one of the prices happens to be off by a resonable ammount(EG. waterfilled vials 155-170)... the price will not adapt. Since the changes in the maket prices are based on the prices trades have been done at...if the prices are off no one will do any trades. thus the price will no correct itself... jagex need so fix this. Well... at least I finaly have the motivation to get 85 mining, wohoo -.- ,,..-~`̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï\ Happy Mining /̢̮â¬Å¡Ãâï`~-..,,|______.\goldhawk co/.______|

Bini
Merchanting will never die. Making lots of money in F2p will never die. I am F2p and I merchant and use skills to make money. I can mine Runite though I never do, I can smith Rune which have made me lots of money, Woodcutting is an excellent money-making skill and even RC can also be good but most money I've ever made in one day was..today..thanks to the GE! :D Maybe my new way of merchanting will not last long but it was sure fun today! Why do some people hate merchants? All we do is buy an item or many items for a reasonable price and sell it for another little bit higher reasonable price, it's not like we raise the prices of items. Zibl
Merchanters annoy me. I'm not overly bothered. Skillers annoy me. It can both ways you know. Besides, I've still yet to understand why people hate merchanting. You would honestly be suprised some of the hours some of us put into it. But instead of getting "oh meh gawd 99 mining!" we get, "oh meh gawd 50 million gp!"... . But on topic: I don't see them putting a cap on the GE. Then again, I never seen them doing that to dueling. So I suppose we'll all just have to wait and see. SwreeTak
I don't believe that jagex will make it impossible to merchant items. There are some players, not many, but a few, who are playing RS and who tries to get as much money as possible. Through merchanting. If Jagex decided to make it impossible to merchant, they would lose these players. And after all the players they have lost with the Dual Arena update, I don't think they're willing to make even more people quit. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
