December 29, 200718 yr You do your homework in elementary school? But regarding your attention span/memory/whatever you wanna call it, RS pretty much gives you ADD  I'm in Junior High, not elementary school  and Homework counts as 30% of my grade.Grade 1-8 is elementary school, high school is 9-12, and idk anything about this 'junior high' you speak of :-k6-8i think americas way is better because u dont want little kids looking at 6ft giant monsters and saying wtf Im so high I belive i can fly
December 29, 200718 yr I didn't start playing Runescape until what equates to 18th grade, no joke. There's no doubt that playing hurt my grades, but then again I have only myself to blame for playing during classes. If it wasn't Runescape, it would've been something else. December 29, 200718 yr I think there is a very good chance that your theory is correct. If you are happier, your grades will probably be higher than if you are unhappy. I'm not sure if RuneScape really made you that much happier than you are now, but if it did, then you should probably start playing again or find something else that makes you happy. December 29, 200718 yr Then about 10 months later I got hacked, I quit. This year in school has been very difficult for me (8th grade), I've found it hard to concentrate while studying, doing homework, in class, ect. I'm beginning to think my success in school was linked to my playing of Runescape. I don't know how exactly, but ever since I quit I've been doing poorly in school Due to depression over a lost account, perhaps? End Of Year, F2P lvl 3 skiller. December 29, 200718 yr runescape improved my english alot i always get A at school  You get an A for that....? OT: Maybe RS did affect your grades, maybe not. Test it I should say :P For me, I always forget what chores I have to do, I also did that before RS. I actually played more RS during test week than I did on normal schooldays and I got higher grades. But that's just coÃÆÃâÃâïncidence (SP?) I think :-k
December 29, 200718 yr I think you may have made yourself believe that the quiting of RuneScape caused all your problems, and thus you're having problems :P Sort of like a placebo effect. But I dunno what could help you if that's the case, except for the fact that you have to realise that RuneScape isn't the issue. But if RuneScape is the issue, I guess you should start playing again, haha :D [insert birds flying in a circle here]Yes, that sig was annoying.
December 29, 200718 yr I did better this year at school then last, and I played only half of last year : Doomy edit: I like sheep
December 29, 200718 yr I think you got the same problems i got. I hate school, most of it bores me to death. And when i get home i need something to balance out that boredom so i will actually study and do my homework. But my parents make the mistake of taking away my videogames when i get bad grades making me fail worse!!!! Proof: (i flunked this class last year, emotional trama was involved also, made me slip and get bad grades, dont ask) Last years grade: D (had no vid games for the second half of that year) This years grade: B+ Those are both first semester grades. And i didnt do any homework last year ( for the last half of the first and all the second) so its still just as hard this time around. So unless i actually have something constructive to do (tv dont cut it) my ability to do work and study actually dwindles really because i'm sick of work. Also playing games like runescape does sharppen your preception and memory skills.
December 29, 200718 yr If you think RuneScape helps your grades, what are you waiting for? Get yourself back in the game NOW! :P --==7,452nd to 99 Woodcutting - 22/08/07 ** as a free player.**==--
December 29, 200718 yr Could it not be the fact that you are growing up and are now doing harder stuff therefore as a person you are changing and since the work is not the same you do not find it as easy? Eg Maths GCSE I walked it got 89% marks A* grade, year later doing As Maths I got completely lost, couldn't focus and got a D why? Nothing to do with RS Because I grew up and lost interest in the subject of maths and the work was harder so my natural ability at math didn'thelp me as much as it did the yr before. December 29, 200718 yr When I don't play Runescape, I notice that I stress a lot more and it seems Runescape is a good time to kick back, relax and have some fun. I know many people who play purely because it is, "the ultimate way to stop stress". It might be for you. December 29, 200718 yr This is a bit of guess-work, but from what I can gather is that you seem to have based the structure of your routine (school, chores, etc.) in your mind on the presence on another activity, i.e. Runescape. When you remove this activity, you cannot restructure the rest of your routine in which all tasks are performed while still filling in the gap. The result is that you can't concentrate on a new routine. It's not that Runescape helped your grades, it's just that the lack of an activity which Runescape filled has cause your grades to drop. I'd suggest that you try to fill in the gap with either Runescape or another activity which you would take part in for a similar amount of time per day. ~ W ~
December 29, 200718 yr Complete coincidence in my opinion. Contrary to what several others believe, i always found that Runescape didn't help structure my time. I found that i rushed school work to get onto RS, to complete that daily goal of slayer kills or whatever. Once i quit (Jagex helped me with their rampant destruction of everything i loved =DD) i found that my grades soared. I have no idea what school is like in America (England here), yet comparisons can't be that different. I hope your grades improve with hard work, and remember, RS is evil ;) ~ Original six ~ 6 99 skills ~ 2b+ bank ~ Retired upon the destruction of the duel arena
December 29, 200718 yr Things are getting harder, maybe you're just not good enough for them? :-k And runescape is helped me, im from other country, and i gotta learn 2 other languages, playing RS helps me learn english. \ I HEARD YOU LIEK MUDKIPS Runescape is mostly 13+ with just a few under that age.Drops: Bones
December 29, 200718 yr hmmm... I think its possible. I would guess that you were thinking too much about whether it affects your grade or not, that you got distracted form doing your schoolwork. :XD: Thanks to Uno for the awsome sig <3
December 29, 200718 yr Yup, i was one of the best in english in my class. I learned everything I know, in english, from runescape. I can say Runescape helped me learning english. :-w

December 29, 200718 yr Well...Now what do you do in your free time instead of playing RuneScape? RuneScape can develop social skills and keeps you thinking while you're still doing something fun. If you're sitting on the couch watching TV, it's fun, but it's not making your brain do anything productive. ~Rcty Indeed. Runescape can be a nice stress relieving outlet and fun for many people. Depending on what you do to fill up the time, it could be negative or positive. For example, if you're studying 24/7 or watching TV and eating potato chips, then you really should find something else to do such as hanging out with friends or playing some sports. I guess another reason could be that you are in a depression, although I highly doubt it. If your mind is often wandering or thinking about something else, it could easily affect your grades and your short term memory. I guess Runescape can be positive towards you though. Depending on what you do in game, Runescape gives some social relationships, basic math review, logic advancement (quests force you to think), and determination + satisfaction of hard work (from leveling skills). I don't think that quitting the game could affect anyone too much, but it's possible.
December 29, 200718 yr i think its just a spyral. :-s You used to getting good marks, and suddenly you got a lower mark which made you look for causes and you consequently came up with RS.Probably when u got hacked you were upset and by upsetting yourself u didnt realise that u didnt concentrate at school and got a lower mark. also, dont be embarrased, but it may be time in your age.
December 30, 200718 yr i tihnk that you knew you wuld get punished if u didnt have good grades. punished meaning less runescape time or none. so you then made time management skills as said. or a way to keep playing more. now u have no motivation. its like running track u go faster and do better when someones about to pass you. just a thought Feabdrt
