Coldplay

David Gilmour

Red Hot Chili Peppers

the Eagles

Are just a few. But it doesn't really matter.

How can you think the eagles are overrated? They're great. Let me guess, you only listened to Hotel California.

The Beatles

Nirvana

A New Found Glory

AFI

Slipknot

Metallica

The Doors

Justin Timberlake

Tila Tequila

Elvis Presley

[insert every punk-rock band to have come out since 2004 here]

Honestly, Elvis Presley was not that great of a singer... He had the moves and the looks, but the guy could barely carry a tune... Both he and the Beatles have been considered "The Biggest Artists in History", but I honestly am not a huge fan of either.

this topic is just - I don't really like x band that other people like, it's nothing to do with rating of the band :wall: Which makes the title of the topic stupid and pointless.

A friend to all is a friend to none.

Its definitely all that rap....*mutters in utter disgust* Eminem!

pleasebesarcasmpleasebesarcasmpleasebesarcasm...

Eminem!

Ha! Eminem is by far the best "modern" rapper. Compared to 50 Cent, Lil Jon, Lil Wayne, Lil *Insert Name*, he's great!

Well, that's if you judge hip-hop by what you hear on the radio..

Cool.

Ulver

Opeth

Dream Theater

Moonsorrow (any finnish 'viking metal' band actually)

Finntroll (and those insipid folk metal ones).

Metallica

Megadeth

Dragonforce

There's more, but that's all I could stomach to write.

Completely agree.

Even if I have a huge soft spot for Opeth amongst a handful of prog bands, for example Pink Floyd and Porcupine Tree. Dream Theater bore the hell out of me.

Dragonforce give power metal a bad name and deserve to be expelled from the subgenre. They can take Rhapsody of Fire, Dragonland and Dark Moor with them too.

Porcupine Tree > Dream Theater.

I couldn't agree more. I also think that Nirvana was one of the WORST bands to come out of the 90s....I'd rather listen to LFO.

Porcupine Tree > Dream Theater.

Yeah. Porcupine's sound is really unique. Love them to bits.

Plus they're a [fairly] local band to me. I would never have thought that I would find such amazing musicians in the vicinity.

I also think that Nirvana was one of the WORST bands to come out of the 90s....

Oh God did Nirvana suck hard. I tried to get my classmates to listen to something else once. Childish insults flew. I laughed.

If Kurt hadn't topped himself, we would be blissfully ignorant to Nirvana's prescence.

All of this said, I'm pretty sure that there must be Nirvana fans somewhere that appreciate more than the one band [and aren't brainless].

AC/DC.

It all depends on whether or not you like hearing the same song over and over.

AdioLovesSquall is right, y'know.

Anyway:

Overrated bands:

Dragonforce (every album is cheesy and has quality traded for computerised speed)

Dream Theater (except for Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence)

Opeth (purely for Watershed, it was such a letdown, yet so many loved it...)

Helloween (became sub-par and overrated the very second Kai Hansen lost interest)

Rhapsody of Fire (same reasons as Dragonforce, but trade 'computerised speed' for 'a full symphony orchestra and terrible lyrics'

Epica (too like Nightwish, that instantly makes them overrated)

Nightwish (especially Dark Passion Play and Century Child)

I would like to add Pendulum to this list. They may not be the most overrated band ever, but they are certainly boring for all of the praise they receive. I would also say that Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon is overrated.

Other overrated bands (to me at least) are Into eternity (I've only heard a couple songs though), Iced Earth, Helloween's Keeper of the Keys Pt. 1, and the aforementioned Rhapsody of Fire and Dragonforce (except Valley of the Damned was decent).

Oh, I forgot to say Judas Priest. they had, like, 2 good albums. Everything else that they did is boring, and Rob Halford isn't *that* amazing of a singer, IMO.

Try some Sage Francis.

*agrees*

Or Aesop rock  . I got lots of more rap/hiphop but that's more oldschool :P

I would say Led Zepplin. They played a lot into the media and "Stairway To Heaven" was their only decent song imo.

You really haven't listened to anything but your local classic rock radio station if you think Stairway to Heaven is their best song. There are at least 5 songs I can name that I think are better than Stairway to Heaven.

Which really shows that Stairway to Heaven is overrated, doesn't it?
