I know if that's the only song they've heard but there is nothing wrong with just getting introduced to a band that way. Either way, you're still wrong. I especially enjoyed the "rage against the machine..." "... plays too much into the media". It reminds me of the disco hype to be honest. Apparently it's alright if so many people like it so much, but I think people are starting to like it a little too much. It''s really not THAT good. It all just sounds the same to me now. That actually applies to most other genres as well. Musically, theres really not much to the "Emo" rock beyond the vocals. its all just a string of the same note for about 5 seconds then it changes to a new note. "Rawr Metal" is starting to turn into more of a sport than a form of music, and all these indie bands are getting famous through MTV, when honestly, thier music isnt exactly the best. But then again, they'd probably make the band stop playing music and start getting into a reality show about them having dogs in a nice house and marrying prostitutes or something. I don't understand how people say Queen and the Eagles are over-rated, and especially not the Beatles or Elvis. Have you even heard their less mainstream songs? However, their later albums are flaky at best and really not as good as everyone says they are in my opinion. I guess they sort-of qualify for 'viking metal' since their lyrics are in Swedish and they have a Swedish band member.. :s I prefer Korpiklaani (folk metal) in every way possible, and my favourite 'viking metal' band has to be Amon Amarth. (which is more Gothenburg/melodeath anyway) I also think Maiden are pretty overrated; despite pioneering a genre they're very average at best. As with many classic rock/NWOBHM bands, every song sounds similar and the tedium sets in after a while. (as does a sense of déjà vu!) Bulls on Parade and Killing in the Name are *slighty* overrated compared to the rest of their music but as a band they are not overrated at all. If you listen to all their songs you will see they are amazing. I have not found a Rage Against the Machine song I dont love, so with your infinite wisdom can you direct me to one?
