That's too bad. I'm sure none of us really mind anyways, and if you do - shame on you. Tip.it spent really hard restoring it as fast as possible, bravo to them. :D

Blargh.

I had a similar thing happen on a site I co-run. It was a fansite for a video game that hasn't come out yet, so there were only a handful of forum users and posts, but I had spent at least a few days cumulative working on the site (extensively modifying the CMS, setting up database frontends for items, monster, whatever) and hadn't thought to take any backups, because...you know, it's a fansite for an MMO that isn't released yet, what could happen?

Well, about a week in, the dude who was paying for hosting decided that he didn't want to be part of it anymore, so he gave the hosting and everything else to the other dude and me.

A couple days later, I get back from school and find the entire site to be gone, all of the passwords changed, database deleted, everything: gone. This is april 1st right, so I thought it might have been someones crude april fools joke, but it turns out the dude who left decided to delete everything for god knows whatever reason.

Even though I've rewritten most everything, it still made me angry as ----

Obviously, my experiences don't compare to a site this big, but I just felt like sharing that. (I now back up everything once a night to my local disk, heh)

Also, I really hope the person who did this isn't who I think they are, I always kinda respected him.

Let's all look on the bright side

FORUM.TIP.IT IS BACK

Agreed. Glad to be back. I am extremely grateful for all the time and effort the current Tip.it Staff has put into fixing and maintaining the forums. Bravo!

It's really unfortunate what happened, but I'm glad that TIF is back. :)

thanks for the fast action forum restore, but the biggest pat on the back go to the people who spent there free time helping us enjoy our free time, which in my eyes deserve them a congratulatory pat on the back,

Private Chat is allways ON, So please feel free to add me, I allways enjoy a good conversation and Im also a very good listener.

Thank you to everyone who helped restore the forums! I love Tip It and I really missed it when it was gone.

I'm not sure if someone already asked, but who did it?

That's up to the admins if they want to disclose that or not. For now it's best not to ask and just enjoy that we have the forums back.

Well it's nice to have things back...but it's kinda different! Will take some getting used to i suppose.

Let's not look at the past too much. What's happened has happened. Instead, we need to look at a future with a newer, better Tip.It. The important thing is that most of us still have accounts and we can access the forums.

Shame, well I greatly thank Darko and Marshalrusty for their hard work, I can definitely see it.

Good luck with the forums! :)

Thanks X V3 N 0 M X,

I liked the look of older forums. Possibly a new skin called "Classic Look?' And I'm sure most of us are puzzled why the hide tags are gone. Great forums, but still needs some tweaks. Also, the new smileys look like aliens. Especially this one.

The hide tags do not come default with phpBB2 or phpBB3. On the old forums, we manually added them in and had to do the same here.

Wow, I can't believe that some [wagon] would try to ruin the forum...

It's great to be back though.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

OPEN WIDE HERE COMES THE HELICOPTER.

A few things to say here.

A: I really hope w/e rogue mod decided to do this comes back in a few weeks, and realizes that we are a little more than a community, and sees how we have built right back up.

B: I, for one, will probably be donating / clicking adds over the next few days, becasue tipit has helped me a lot and its [cabbage] that silveron would have to cover money the jerk did to us in damage. Is it possible to sue him/her :D?

C: Long live tipit!

LOL

Thanks again for the hard work guys =D>

[bleep] the law, they can eat my dick that's word to Pimp

Also, the new smileys look like aliens. Especially this one.

I agree. I'd like back the ones that are referred to as "huh" and "<_<", and the sizes of a few others need extreme fixing. Something tells me that, when the phpBB designers made Version 3, they weren't thinking very much about design and styles in this regard. (File it under "D'oh!"... #-o ...)

Other than that, the only other problems I have are the "hide tag" issue, and someone needs to finish fixing the signature modification to the forums. I still can't tweak my sig, apparently due to its' supposed size (296 characters as the system is reading it) when there are only 215 characters displayed, as shown by the code that is located at http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/script2/charcount.shtml ... The underlying code needs to be not counted in any way, shape, or form. :ugeek:

(Warning: This user can be VERY confusing to some people... And talks in 3rd person for the timebeing due to how insane they are... Sometimes even to themself.)

Thanks for getting it back on line guys :D

but honostly, why do people think that destroying something is always a good way to leave? Off rs - destroy forums. On rs - alch other's rares, etc.. It's just sad.

that stinks but i guess we'll live. I love the new layout though!
