This is really just alot of guessing, but when I noticed the update about 20 days ago (Sorry I'm late to bringing this up, just lazy... :lol: ), it had this:

 

 

 

Dragon square shields have been updated, thanks to observant players who noted that its two halves wouldn't make a square!

 

 

 

This stuck out. I'm not sure about the look in RSC, but as long as I can remember with RS2, dragon sq shields have always been like this with the halves. Am I the only one who finds that Jagex fixing the looks JUST NOW, after years of looking like that, a tiny bit suspicious. In my opinion it seems like they would update this close to releasing something related planned. A dragon kite wouldn't even have to be smithed through halves.. They might bring it out and change the looks just not to confuse people. No matter what, this sudden change seems like something with dragon shields is up to me.

The pics shown are a few pictures of the Halves on the floor/in inventory, and the finished shield. The inventory ones with one half "gosted" near the other one is simply dragging one half near the other in the inventory.[/hide]

 

 

 

 

 

Oh and a note.. I accidently resaved those pics as a JPEG, so I have to re find the original file... but you can pretty much see the point in them.

That did cross my mind when I read that update. I think it's probably just as likely they have been focusing on all kinds of graphics stuff lately.

Anyways I think it would be safe to say that it wont match up to the current dragonfire shield so I dont have any intentions of getting one as that already doubles as quite expensive and functional compared to such other dragon items, say the full helm for example, which cost even more and do even less in the long run compared to some of the other helms we have out there anyways.

Eh, to the highly doubtful, or i wouldda remembered this sooner, No, it was more out of lazyness.

 

 

 

And it doesn't have to match the dragonfire shield, just like all dragon is outmatched easily anyways.. It just seems to me that they wouldn't have changed this year long look for no reason at all... :|

I don't remember the picture, but I do remember the thread. And their updating of the square all of a sudden, did seem suspicious to me. I mean... it's been like that for EVER. Why all of a sudden realize how off it is and change it now? Countless people have pointed it out over the years.

I dont think they will come out with it any time soon. Untill 3rd age kite gets under 10m, no chance of it happening.

I remember that. I personally don't think the shield was a dragon piece of armour, it really didn't fit in with the rest of the set. I may be proved wrong one day though :P.

 

 

 

It seems odd that Jagex have chosen to update the square shield halves now, after all this time. It could be perfectly innocent, but if Jagex are planning to release the dragon kiteshield sometime soonish, it would make sense for them to make this change.

Funny you should say that. One of the anagrams at the end of a postbag from the hedge (I think) was solved to be "Legends must rise again"; perhaps Jagex will release a sequel to the Legends quest with the ability to wield the kiteshield as part of the reward?

Like when Jagex updated the Saradomin Gwd safespot, I don't remember seeing a thread that Jagex may get out another boss with the slanted wall safespot.

 

 

 

It can be Jagex have changed the size for a reason, but at the present day RS, even the release of the Dragon Kiteshild doesn't excite me as there quite a good amount of shields present, and the Dragon Kiteshield's stats will be slightly more than the D square. There will be better shields. Also most of the people use Rune Defenders or 2h's...

I'll just crush your theory. We already have a dragon kite. It's the same thing as the dragon plate. We have it, it has no point, and it's a toy.

yeah i just realised the two halves really look like a kiteshield together. theyre probably changing the look of the halves in case people get it confused with the new draon kite they're making

The dragon sq halves looked like kite halves for 5 years, comparing that to any gwd bugs is just silly.

 

 

 

The Dragon Kiteshiald is bound to be introduced, since the full helmet has already been released. By order, the shield should be next, and looking at the questlines, the 150th quest isn't too far away. We should expect the kite to be released in around 4 months time, have slightly worse stats compared to 3rd age kite and be incredibly exclusive(i have yet to see an actual helm drop from mithril dragon).

That's why I've always loved Jagex. They have the ability to put in an update to the game after months-years of it being consistently addressed, and then when it is added, they make a comment like "Thanks for bringing it up".

 

 

 

Sometimes I think Jagex may have a quota of players that need to bring up an issue no matter how big or small before they'll fix it. :geek:

 

 

 

Edit: Then again, they probably needed to fix the shape so when textures are released next month, the square shield halves will actually look more convincing.

Yes that struck me too as a bit odd, considering the suspected dragon platebody pic was found recently. But what I don't get is the fact that we've seen the *supposed* d plate and not a d kite pic yet, and you'd think the d kite would be released before the d plate coz plates are more than kites in most cases, and rune dragons would not be released before addy dragons lol :-k

 

 

 

Maybe jagex will surprise us and release them both at the same time =P~

I do think it was just more than a hint, as Jagex did confirm in RSC that there would NEVER be a dragon full-helm, platebody or kite shield.

 

 

 

We already have a full-helm so I think they'll just end up releasing a platebody and a kite shield too.
