Dizzle229
Zierro's example expresses sympathy for the family, and why not? The family did nothing wrong. However, the kid did something stupid, and he is the one that deserves no sympathy. Get back here so I can rub your butt.
Zierro
Looks like you quoted me seriously too. : I was just trying to mock people who use it as a joke. As a matter of fact, don't take anything relating to 4chan from me seriously. I hate it and I'll bash it whenever the opportunity knocks.
Ginger_Warrior
Zierro's example expresses sympathy for the family, and why not? The family did nothing wrong. However, the kid did something stupid, and he is the one that deserves no sympathy. Place that into another scenario. War, for instance. A soldier recognises the dangers of signing up to the Army, yet we're all expected to sit in front of our TV screens and have respect for those who die. Take away for a moment what they're fighting for, and consider they willingly chose to join the Army. Surely, they stupidly ignored all the warnings, and died. None of us should have any sympathy. Only, I do have sympathy out of basic humanitarian care. I still fail to see any tangible difference between the scenario I've highlighted, and this boy's tragic death. What you're saying is tantamount to saying, "That young girl knowingly entered the park realising she could be attacked, so we shouldn't have sympathy if she gets assaulted". | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
urbestfreind
Looks like people still have the whole "darwinism attitude". Let's try to achieve this through empathy. Imagine you are at a theme park with your son and you are having a good time. Your son wanders off for a few hours. Later in the day, you get news that your son died from a roller coaster by wandering into a restricted zone. All stupidity aside - your son is still dead. It's not like he can learn from his mistakes either. It's a permanent devastation. By the way, if this "darwinism" theory is true, then explain why 4chan still exists. 4chan exists as a place for anon to leave their mark before they become Darwin Award winners. They leave behind their photo collection and head off to tie a rocket to the back of their truck and launch themselves into a cliff...or to rob a convenience store weilding a knife, demanding change for a 20, getting the 15 dollars in the register, and running off, leaving the 20 on the counter...If they stay alive, they post guro and hentai. The more perverse and disgusting the posts are, the funnier the death will become. And if the kid is dumb enough not to weigh the risks and actually climb over two fences and go in while the roller coaster is running full-speed (not like the downtime between coaster boardings), then maybe the family is better off? Who knows what other insane and stupid things he's done without them knowing. You see, people don't quote Darwin here seriously. They just are perversely trying to mock at other people who died. Oh no, meol is on to us! Everyone hide in /b/, it's our only chance! And Ginger, the kid died for a hat...not his country or something truly worthwhile, but a hat (if that's even what it is, they said he lost something maybe)...If he was just trying to touch the ride, then that's even less of a cause, the only way to describe that is he wanted a Darwin Award bad...There's a difference between fighting for something that has a meaning and dieing for it, and dieing for an easily replacable object (hat) or sheer stupidity (wanting to touch the ride)... [hide=Funny Quotes]So you sucker punched a kid in the back of the head? Good job. What scares me is that you're like 10 years old.-.- im not that freaking youngYou were a couple years ago. It's not racist if its true.Hmm... I wonder how one goes about throwing someone out a window in a mystic fashion :-k The mental image for that is freaking awesome.[/hide]- I dont need to "get a life." meol
I'm just saying, laughing at anybody's death, whatever the reason might be, seems nothing but downright perverse to me. I'm not asking you to excuse the boy and demand actions against the park, but just to have some empathy towards the family. This signature is intentionally left blank. Ginger_Warrior
Soldiers go to war for a valid reason. This kid had no reason. That's wholly irrelevant to the fact that someone has lost their life, and his family have lost their son/brother. It's tragic when anyone dies and no person's death deserves to be humiliated for how they died. It is just completely disrespectful. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
doomy
Hopefully nothing is done to the Park. You can say its disrespectful to laugh at somebody dying in a really stupid way, but who are you to tell me what I should find funny? Sure its tragic, nor does the person deserve to be humiliated, but its still funny to me. Doomy edit: I like sheep

RichieMcD
I feel no sympathy for him, I obviously do for the family since they've lost a family member. If there's signs all over it saying dangerous and 2 fences, one which is 6 feet high it is quite obviously dangerous. Instead of showing off / acting like an idiot he should've just called over some staff member and ask him to retrieve the item he lost.

ididnotlol
Well, when i die, i'd rather people make jokes about it than say "aaaw, its so sad". Prehaps thats because im 94% 4chan... I love this sig.
warren211
Darwin Awards, here we come! Believe it or not, signs that say "do not enter" usually have a reason for being there. a teenager has his whole life ahead of him. to end it in an act of pure stupidity is a complete waste of the 17 years where morals and common sense should have been instilled in him by then. [hide=]tip it would pay me $500.00 to keep my clothes ON :( :lol:But then again, you fail to realize that 101% of the people in this universe hate you. Yes, humankind's hatred against you goes beyond mathematical possibilities. That tears it. I'm starting an animal rebellion using my mind powers. llamster
I have a question for everyone who says the kid deserved to die: would it be fair if the government executed someone who made an extremely stupid decision that didn't hurt anyone? Ah, this reminds me about the noob on the Runescape forums who was upset with the quest "Cold War" because apparently his grandparents died in the war. :wall:

That's completely irrelevant. There are plenty of stupid decisions made every day, but they aren't made around roller coasters traveling in excess of 80mph with plenty of signs that say DO NOT ENTER. Mother nature and newton decide if our decision was stupid enough to be punishable by death. juggling hand grenades for example (famous darwin award), staring into an unexploded firecracker, cutting down the support beam holding up a gigantic tower, bypassing security systems WHICH ARE INSTALLED FOR THAT VERY PURPOSE, picking up unexploded land mines, having sex on a pyramid shaped roof, are all incredibly stupid decisions and the people who make those decisions deserve to be eradicated from the gene pool. 76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007 Finally the secrets of goal achieving are revealed! Kill_Thomas9
LOL. When you see you don't go touch the thing. So when you see a sign that says "Danger. Keep out.", you don't go in. All I can do is laugh at his stupidity, and eel sorry for the family that had such a brilliant child. --------------------------------------- I have a question for everyone who says the kid deserved to die: would it be fair if the government executed someone who made an extremely stupid decision that didn't hurt anyone? He didn't deserve to die. But I shure as hell aren't going to feel sorry for him anymore than the kid who decides to set is balls on fire with WD-40 and then dies because of burns. ThurinEthir
While the way he died may have been slightly amusing, the actual death isn't. Likewise with all these Darwin Award winners, the fact that they died isn't funny at all, but the methods they died by are. I have a bit of sympathy for this kid, but it's mainly for the family and friends. Cenin pân nîd, istan pân nîd, dan nin ú-cenich, nin ú-istach.Ithil luin eria vi menel caran...Tîn dan delu. Tbh, if I die in some stupid way I expect everyone to laugh at me. Why the hell wouldn't they laugh if I died from my own stupidity? This kid was stupid enough to cross over fences with obvious warnings and got himself killed. That was stupid and funny. He got what he had coming for what he was doing. I've read Darwin awards before and laugh about them, but I still felt like something was wrong about making light of deaths. But really, it's the action that they're making light of, not the person. It feels like in this thread, while some people are making fun of the action, a lot are making fun of the person. I hadn't thought of it that way. Thanks for clearing that up for me. :)
