Well, (I don't know if I posted here already) but I think that Tip.it is mature enough to handle these discussions (except for some people who just wish to aggravate). So, why not? If kids end up getting in trouble for venturing into mature discussions, it shouldn't be Tip.it's responsibility should it? I mean, are you going to sue a porn site if your child ventured into it?

 

 

 

Even that being true, I do agree that there should be some kind of limit. I mean, there shouldn't be people talking about inappropriate stuff unless it functions as a positive discussion rather than negative spam.

Your feelings towards an authoritative figure and being a figure of authority are two different things.

 

 

 

Although as a user it feels better to have more freedom, being a mod really puts things in perspective. Freedom is good, but only to a certain point. Too much freedom makes people sloppy and far too uncivilized; too much freedom=anarchy.

 

 

 

Structure is a good thing, and that's what we would like to do with Project off topic, rebuild some of that structure.

I can understand Darkwebz. With such a small group of people, you don't really need a structure. As long as everyone is mature enough to handle issues, everything fixes itself.

 

 

 

Now if you meant being a mod here (you were right?), maybe it was cause of the time, but now things seem to need the structure. Personally I thought it was a good idea to have things more liberal as newbie mod. Seeing the things over the course of half a year have made things different and I think this forum needs a little more cement.

But what about the proposed 'mature forum' that has no limits? Wouldn't that be the point of said forum? And, of course, like Lionheart said, that kind of thing would end up being like Darkwebz, where people are mature enough to handle themselves without necessitating too much structure.

I used to be a regular in darkwebz, that being said , I did alot of things in darkwebz you could never do here :lol: . Limits are good and for a reason and i think these here in OT have made many improvements

Remember all the "who's my favourite OT'er" topics and the "let's flame the non-regulars just because we can"-attitudes? And then there was the discussion about the 'hidden forum' that is accessible only on invitation or something for 18+ Tip.It-members. Quite frankly, it is/was ridiculous.

Meh, Off-topic suffices. Mature topics can go in here, it is just whether or not the users can handle themselves with such topics. I think the definition of mature and then relating it to sexual topics/swearing etc is blurred. To be mature is to handle topics well, and not to go around breaking the rules, but some people assumed that to be mature is to have sexual topics and so forth. :-#

I do remember a discussion about the purported existence of such a forum. I think someone may have even confirmed it. . . That turned pretty nasty, whether the thing exists or not. Suffice it to say, people weren't happy with the idea of an elitist section of TIF.

What kind of an idea would that be, to create a forum like that, seriously it would be extremely elitest. I think this discussion is turning into suspicion or something, people are going to think that there's some big undercover forum in TIF.
