Randox
Most people don't. I don't mind at all. And yes, that's exactly what I meant. And in all this talking, I forget to talk about my day. Our wheelbarrows are in rought shape, whith one of them having a broken frame right by the wheel, so we got new ones for them. So my job is to take them apart, scrub them, and wirebrush the paint off all the metal and repaint them, and I am doing the same for all the nuts/bolts/washers so that it will look nice when I put it back together (and for the bolts, so I can actually use them. Threds are quite cloged with rust). I also snapped 2 bolts clean off (or maybe 3) and I think there is one more than needs to be cut because I can't get a grip on the bolt to hold it steady. So more work than I thought, but its work I enjoy for the most part. And yesterday I built our new barbeque.

I found it very interesting, and regardless of where you stand on the issue, I reckoned most people here would be as well.It is really sad that online gaming is like this. I have been in lobbies where things were like this and it's truly sad. When I did play my PS3 a lot I had a lot of friends that were women, and who were really good. It really is pathetic that men are unwilling to accept the fact that the number of women gamers are growing. Hell if anything men should be happy. This shows that gaming is getting more popular thus meaning that gaming will be around for years to come. Riku3220
Women aren't being specifically targeted. Anyone who's been on XBL for 10 minutes knows these same idiots make fun of everyone, except men get your mom jokes and their sexuality questioned. We all get death threats and Internet Tough Guys challenging us to fly to a random city so they can kick our ass. You've just got to mute/ignore/block them like everyone else. Bonez899
Please no flaming for this but I kinda agree with the room full of guys statement, that happens and guys (atleast the ones I know) all make fun of each other as part of the fun not to discriminate or whatever. The part that isn't online though is knowing where to draw the line with that stuff. http://forum.tip.it/topic/325514-bonez899s-journey-to-an-eventual-max/ My blog of progress on Runescape. Distracted
So today the two guys I worked with on that project I spent my Sunday editing both said they really liked the end result, which basically made my day. I'm pretty proud of the end result myself. Now let's just hope the rest of the class enjoys it too.

Giordano
Women shouldn't feel bad about online insults. We all know in real life, they are behind girls sucking up 24/7. "The cry of the poor is not always just, but if you never hear it you'll never know what justice is." Randox
My view on the harrasement is that what everyone is seeing is how men treat each other. Some of it is going to be good old fashioned chauvinism yes, but a lot of it is how some men behave around everyone. I'm not saying its right, but I wouldn't say girls are getting singled out in particular. On an side note, that article makes RuneScape look pretty damn good. It also reminds me of a game I've not played in a while, subspace/continuum. Subspace has a very small portion of admitted females. One of their servers I used to frequent was the Metal Gear CTF server, which apparently had one female that was known, and she was one of the pros. Many of the regulars there (her included) liked to insult each other in every way they could think of if they weren't busy shooting at each other in the game itself. It was part of the server culture. To their credit though, they left those that didn't ever start a fight alone for the most part (as long as you had skill), and many of them were nice if you got them between [bleep]ing matches. It's less prevalent in the other servers (except extreme games, but it has a younger player base than MG CTF did, so the insults are weaker). They also used to have a quotes database, and I always thought it was telling that over half the off colored jokes came from the MG CTF sever. TTanT
I type in all caps 100% of the time in FPS's if I happen to be losing. And it isn't even insults I'm spamming. It's mostly random cusses and creative strings of meaningless adjectives and nouns of varying profanity. Meanwhile, I don't like cussing verbally and thus rarely do. Yeah people act differently online. The only difference between Hitler and the man next door who comes home and beats his kids every day is circumstance. The intent is the same-- to harm others.[hide=Tifers say the darndest things]I told her there was a secret method to doing it - and there is - but my once nimble and agile fingers were unable to perform because I was under the influence.I would laugh, not hate. I'm a male. :(Since when was Ireland an island...? :wall:I actually have a hobby of licking public toilet seats.[/hide]
