WW2 Shooters

How many times must I get a history lesson of how WW2 started and ended. WW2 was a long time ago and I think that it should be buried. No offense, but it's always the Americans loose out at first but then start making a superhuman comeback and win the war.

Yep, every game shares the exact same cliche you mentioned, lose at first, kick [wagon] superhuman style later on. I'm yet to come across a WW2 game realistically played, I.E not storming the beaches, having a cup of coffee and making it home for dinner. A game with a storyline and realism to something like the movie "Saving Private Ryan" would be good.

Vietnam is a pretty underplayed area of war games too IMO, there's only been about 3 or 4 noticeable ones and they weren't even that good. A realistic gorilla warfare sandbox type game I think would make for a great game, something like the Republican paramilitaries in Northern Ireland or the Colombian gorillas.

Anyway quick OT, Crash Bandicot (sp?), the WWE / WWF labeled games, the year after year of FIFA / Madden games without noticeable changes and the NFS series.

True, true. Even "modern military" games are either elite special counter terrorist forces versus the crappily organized or amazingly skilled terrorists in unrealistic scenarios, OR world war two in a modern style.

There need to be games with all the drama of a revolution, all the pain and suffering, but all the fervent hopes as well. Videogames should start reaching the point where they can have messages and art, soon.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Fifa and all other generic sport games released yearly.

Nah these will be released yearly simply because its easier to keep on top of everything that way and are actualy good games and unlike most series they actually change.

@Returned

Cod5 is more of a breath of fresh air when all you get is modern this modern that .. yawn.

That's a good idea.

Anyways, I think the Sims are dull and Mario is on his way there too. It's not Mario - it's the stupid idea of putting him in every scenario possible (tennis) and expecting it to be an original idea. Mario should stick to adventures only.

Totally agree with Lenticular on that... I'm also frankly fed-up with all the crappy "ultra-special-ops versus ragged terrorist hip-aiming AK47" so-called 'action' games. Make a game about the Cuban revolution and the struggles of Fidel Castro, I'll play that in a heartbeat.

To me, the game GTAIV is the perfect example of how modern storylines should be modeled. It isn't all peaches and cream for the main character who comes in America in search of the 'american dream'...

He isn't automatically some super-criminal with vast connections. Already coming off the ship he has numerous enemies in the new country from his past life. He has to endure hardships, he & his cousin constantly get screwed over, people double cross them & have their own motivations.

It doesn't have to be only success or only failure... Just make storylines more plausible. It's no wonder games like that get 9.8-10.0 ratings constantly, people generally want games like that. There simply aren't enough developers to supply them.

That's why game developers should pay more attention to the internet.

Hell, every media developer should. It's getting ridiculous when they still act like the internet is some strange, advanced machineymajig. Three-year-olds use it.

On the note of the 1959 Revolution, I actually had that idea not too long ago. I can imagine it, terribly ragged guerillas, but they have the strength of ideals, and the support of the peasants. Far outnumbered and outgunned by the regular armed forces, but those guys aren't willing to spend their lives for a paycheck. I actually read a biography on Che recently, that would be a fantastic videogame. One of few modern day legendary heroes.

Um. We need a new thread.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

What about Axis & Allies? The new version plays like a strategy game, you can be any of the 'big powers' and there's campaign-style play using stats from the actual battles.

Actually change? You're being sarcastic right? It's the same game year in year out with the odd slight change each year with a 60 euro price tag.

The difference between FIFA 08 and FIFA 09 made it well worth the £40 I paid to update, and I'd still buy the new game every year for the updated graphics and tweaked gameplay (not to mention the roster changes).

Aye .. Payed £25 here and I can't really complain for what I got with it. And it lasts.

There's like what, 30 megaman games. They should just give it a rest

I can think of few series that are still good even after running for longer than necessary, Final Fantasy for one.. Although it's an age-old franchise, they still come up with good gameplay and some plots.

I was surprised at seeing NFS on the list. I've always loved the series and have most of the games. I got Undercover for Christmas and I've enjoyed it so far. I really don't care about plots and blah blah blah... I really like to get into police chases and see how long I can last/how much damage I can do/Cost to State/and others.

There's just something cool about ramming my car into police blocks going 200mph and only breaking my windshield.

I agree with those who said Mario Party and Sonic. Ugh...those just need to go away.

Instead of the usual USA/UK armed forces games we have now, how about games that have you defending against these two?

I actually enjoyed COD 5:WoW's part where you play a russian fighting off the german army. It's always the US against the Japanese...

Crash Bandicoot/Spyro

I loved to play those old games, and the first few of each on the PlayStation were great; but leave them be. If you want to experience this series just play the old and great games.

Mario Party

This just needs to be killed off or create the next game (Mario Party 9) on Wii while perfecting the gameplay from the other Mario Parties and suggestions from Mario Party fans on how it could be played. Lots of Characters, maps, minigames (great retro minigames should come back) and DLC...if possible.

People in general should just stop making [cabbage]ty shovelware games and put some damn time and thought into it. I think this would be better for everyone.

I never really understood how to make super chaos. I just made my evil by beating them and locking them in that cage in the dark garden.

I don't remember either. I want that game so badly right now.

Haha I have it along with my GC still haha

On-topic: The games based on already crappy moveis/tv shows made even crappier. EG:This
