What's wrong with having unbalanced stats?

Recommended Posts

Well recently, while I was browsing the Rate This! thread I saw a lot of the same posts. Many posts said something like "l0l n00b go train ur skills up ur cb stats pwn them l0l0l0l0L@@@@" And whenever a skiller (level 3 combat with large total level) posts a thread on rate this everybody goes "omfg w0w@@@" they don't tell the skiller to raise their combat stats, hypocrisy ftl.

The point of this thread is: what's so bad about unbalanced stats? Maybe some people enjoy combat more than skills, maybe some enjoy skilling more than combat.

2 Reasons why people say that.

1. They are jeolous of the person becasause they have same total lvl and person is 10cb lvls above them.

2. They have a less total lvl than a skillers that is 50 or less combat.

I guess some people just automatically think that high combat levels = high total levels as well.

There's nothing wrong with having unbalanced stats, despite what a few people in rate this say.

Runescape is a game, it's meant to be fun. If you enjoy combat more than skills, do combat. If you enjoy skills more than combat, train your skills. You should be doing what you want to be doing, not what people tell you to do.

OR, the Rate This forum is there so someone can post their stats/achievements, and a bunch of other people can post their OPINIONS.

KEYWORD: OPINIONS. If it's in game, the ignore list works wonderfully. If you post your achievements in Rate This, you give permission to the Tipit community to share its opinion. If you want a slew of 10/10s, PM your friends and have a party, but don't post in Rate This.

What's with you an all these topics? Moving on though...

Well, being a skiller is just to be impressive. So I think the answer's right there: people respect skillers more, but they don't respect low-level mains as much.

Usually (and I'm not saying always) people are just combat trainers and they use pest control or soul wars to do it. So you've got level 130+'s with only like 1200 total and it's just rediculous. My opnion though, which is the key point.

Total level is a way to sort of measure how much effort and time you've put into the game. If you see a level 138 combat with like 1500 total, and then a 138 combat with 2,200 total, you tend to be way more impressed with the 2,200 total, right? That's just a way to kind of materialize the thought. It's not like your combat isn't impressive. It is. It's just that the rest of your skills are junk. That's all. And as long as your fine with your skills other than combat being junk, then who cares what others say or think?

yeah and some people just get the high combat first so they can already have that achievment accomplished while they skill.

As long as they skill after then yeah. But I still see the people with all 99 melee stats and like 20m exp in each skill, with bad skilling skills. (lol...redundant, yes.)

But it's the way they want to play. If they only like combat, they only like combat. That's ok. They just have bad skills other than combat and if they really like it so much then comments from others shouldn't even phase them.

Nothing is wrong with having unbalanced stats. If you don't get completely absorbed into raising your total level like I have previously... more power to you. There's no reason to raise a stat that you don't like unless you need it for something like a quest.

This is just another example of people pushing their opinions on other people and perhaps trying to make themselves feel superior for something that isn't even that impressive to begin with. You don't have to think anything is wrong because of people like that. The only one lacking is them, in humility.

They are fine it's just I guss people assume a standard or balanced stats now adays. Like if someone has a low prayer level or something they'll rate you lower just because of it. People post there for opinions and the people that post do that but some are over the top.

Stats are fine I had very low melee stats and other skills that I didn't like when I got my first 99 at 1099 total and someone shuned me for that but I could care less.

Nothing really, it's personal preference. I cannot stand to look at my stats and see them uneven, if I wasn't do damn lazy my rc and hunter would be 70+ where they should be. Hell I died getting 60+ hunter :D. I really need to get 90 prayer, It's not the cost, just the "boringness", I haven't been playing much..

I would be horrified if I had stats that were like 99 str with 1200 total.

If you ask people to rate your stats, and don't specifiy combat only, then they are going to assess everything.

Past that, some people value versatility, and when they rate people, they compare that person to themselves.

Additionally, some people are jerks.

I guess some people just automatically think that high combat levels = high total levels as well.

Very true, you could have 6, 99s in skills and have a low combat level and people automatically think you are a noob

It's tough at the top ;)

Well, my highest skill is 75 strength and I have 1,440 total and 94 combat. I enjoy training all skills (except Herblore, Farming & Construction) and don't really like min-maxing. If I would post in Rate This my mind would blow up because of 'noob stats' replies.

My character is like this because I usually pick a skill, train it for 30 mins and switch to another skill... I get bored so easily

And there's nothing wrong about having unbalanced skills if you don't enjoy all skills, just do what you like ;)

Bleh, I've posted enough solo GWD drops on Rate This that most people really don't care what my noncombats are. Not that they're bad, in fact when I posted my 99 Farming/Summoning thread, someone posted and said I was a great skiller too.

Well I have some pretty 'unbalanced' stats, 1896 total and 131 combat.

The reason is kinda simple, I only train skills I like. Its a game, and games are for fun right. So if I dont feel like grinding 10 hunter/rc/agility levels, who can flame me for that? I train whatever I feel like training and I dont care if other people say 'omg nub skill more' or whatever.

- I'm not proud of everything I've done, but I have no regrets

125(f2p cb) (99 in all melee stats + hp and 92 prayer) here. I HAVE used pest control, but the xp is not equivalent to any single decent gap between a level. I also had max melee before soul wars (and that mini game bores me more than pest control (somehow)). I have 1298 total. My skills fail. I cant even cook sharks, burn maple logs, or fish sharks. I cant mine adamantite or smith mithril. I cant make prayer potions, i cant use a rune crossbow.

I mean i like combat as the main thing i do in the game, but this doesn't mean i hate others for having lower combat and higher totals. If you are a lvl 3 with a higher total, then you get my respect, because obviously it isn't very easy. Some love skills, i love kills. Some love both \' i'm not one of them though :ohnoes:

The only unbalanced stat that annoys me is 99 str, when the rest of the persons's cmb's are under 80. Its so obvious most of them just got the level to be a poser and look cool hitting a high hit once in a blue moon. Doesen't impress me at all.

Cmb/skills ratio doesen't bother me at all, probably because i have high ish combat and low total.

There is nothing wrong with it. If you ask people to rate your stats, they have to take all skills into the rate, not just your good stats.

I can use me as a example. I got 1594 total at 101 combat with 2 99's. If I was to ask people to rate my 99's, I would hope to get some good ratings (8+). But if I was to ask people to rate me account as a whole, i got some low stats (45 rc 46 herb, 50 smithing, 51 con and farm, 52 thiving and 55 prayer :wall: ) So then the rates would go down some (Around 6-7 Id say)

But the best way to look at this is, to train the skills you want to train, don't let others tell you what to do. Just play the game how you want to play it.
