In-Crowd or Out-Crowd?

Wtf are you guys talking about, MTG kicks [wagon].

I'm in the in between crowd. I don't really like any of my friends, and I have some on both sides.

Though I pretty much despise the basic people of the in crowds. You know, the people who will just grab your cards off the table and yell "OMFG A -insert card name here-!!" in a really obnoxious voice ,trying to mock you. that's pretty [developmentally delayed]ed.

Our school is like socialism slowly moving towards communism. There is no in-crowd or out-crowd. It is a small school, everyone knows each other and everyone knows what everyone is doing. Forgot to bring lunch? Ask around for some lunch money.

If I did that, I'd get punched in the face.

You should probably try to make friends.

I'm not really part of either.

My school is very small (currently less than 80 kids in the class and it's the largest ever, and the average high school around here has about 850 in a class) so everyone knows each other and we all hang out with each other to an extent.

I don't think that occurs as much over here in the UK, especially as the majority don't have high schools, I go to College instead of High School.

It's just turn up to your lecture then go home. Harder for groups to form with this environment.

There's a lot of different styles yeah but people don't pay attention much. Very little bullying I see.

It's great, Big step-up of maturity from School.

It is a big step up but when you go to the same sixth form college pretty much everyone from your secondary did it doesn't change that much. Dinnertimes and that are so much better though since you can just go off to like... Greggs and get a pastie. :D

Can someone explain the UK school system? College and high school are practically the same thing, except colleges are more specialized and for those with better grades, right?

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

Mexican school system is the easiest to understand.

Kindergarten (like 3 years, i think)

Preschool (1 year, i think)

Elementary (6 or 7 years, 7 for me, as bilingual schools have one more)

Junior High (3 years)

High School (3 years)

University

that's it

Also, it's nice to live in a small sized city, and studying in a Catholic School (okay, that last one is not). There are 50 people on my group, (as we all have classes together on the same classroom). With 200 people on my year. And 600 on our whole high school. However there is the elementary, kindergarten and Jr. High on the same school (different buildings) that doesn't really matter, as our recess is always outside.

We don't have lockers, we leave the books on a lower part of our desks, we have one 45 minute recess on which we eat.

I need to use a damn uniform with 3 different shirts and 2 pants. (blue shirt and white pants for monday, and then alternate red/white with the gray pants for every other day, except when we have PE we wear the "school gym uniform" no showers either.)

Our whole school is basically outdoors, as in, the buildings only contain classrooms, and halls are outside. There are the usual drug/gun/fight problems, but nothing REALLY serious (unless it's outside school, it's probably the worst place ever)

Here, stalk my classroom, which is the eight pic (I'm not on the pic, unfortunately)

http://www.regislasalle.edu.mx/preparatoria/index.htm

I can not have large hair, teachers want us to have "manly hair", and i cant bring ANY electronics. Not even cellphones.

Also, i though that our school was pretty large. There are four "classes" on each year. A,B,C,D. As in on the 3rd year of high school, you may be in 3rdA,3rdB, 3rdC or 3rdD.

SAD.

DAMN YOU U.S YOU ARE SO LUCKY!

Well, in my school there's only like 60 pupils, but I know all of them. So I guess i'm in the "in-crowd", but everyone pretty much hangs with everyone so that means nothing to me.

Can someone explain the UK school system? College and high school are practically the same thing, except colleges are more specialized and for those with better grades, right?

Simple explanation:

Primary school = 4-10/11 yrs old (reception- year 6)

High school = 11-15/16 yrs old (year 7 - year 11) (everyone does GCSEs in years 10-11)

Then mandatory education ends, and people who stay on in education either carry on in their high school's sixth form (not all high schools have one), or go to an FE college. sixth forms generally do A-levels only, but FE colleges do A-levels, GCSE resits and vocational qualifications. I don't know much about the vocational qualifications but A-levels generally take 2 years (sometimes 3 if people decide to resit a year due to taking the wrong subjects or failing their exams), after which people go to university for 3-4 years. (people are usually 18 when they finish their A-levels - sometimes 17 if born in the summer, sometimes 19 if they did an extra year for whatever reason)

It's not always called High School over here too. I'm used to calling them Secondary schools.

So High school in america is sixth form/college over here I think.

I'd say I know people form pretty much every crowd. Also, there is no single 'In' or 'Out' crowd, there's just a big jumble of kids. If we were to go by stereotypes, it's the same case for me. I'm a Jock/Nerd/Prep/Punk/Loner. I was co-captain of my school's football team (First place in our Division), I am very much a gamer/computer addict/very smart, I hang out with all of the punk-ish kids, or I guess the better title would be troublemakers, I also hang out with all of the kids that might be defined as 'Preppy', and I only really hang out with people after school and such.

In High School it is nearly impossible to put labels on someone, I don't understand why some people feel the need to have a solid classification of someone else.

There's no such thing as regret. A regret means you are unhappy with the person you are now,

and if you're unhappy with the person you are, you change yourself. That

regret will no longer be a regret, because it will help to form the new,

better you. So really, a regret isn't a regret.

It's experience.

US Schools are...

Primary school (Kindergarten - 5)

Middle School (6-8)

High School (9-12)

Yep, that's how most of my schools were. Except there are a few that have 6th graders in Elementary/Primary.

Some people fit the stereotypes perfectly, but the majority of kids are a mixture of a lot of things or don't fit under anything at all.

Definitely not "in", but not too much "out" either. I hang with the streamed kids. xD (uber-brainy ones) Yeah, they own.

We'll sneak out while they sleep

And sail off in the night.

We'll come clean and start over the rest of our lives.

When we're gone, we'll stay gone.

Out of sight, out of mind.

It's not too late,

We have the rest of our lives.

The only distinctive social groups in my school are the Dragon Kidz and the [wagon]. I belong to neither.

I have to ask, what the hell are the Dragon Kidz?

Well, I searched for a pic, but nothing could quite capture the essence of the guys who have their own little corner in the cafeteria and play Magic: The Gathering while having at least one laptop for God knows what (I saw one of them programming a Java applet once) and stick together like glue, taking pride in their label to the point of roping off a section of the gym lobby with a sign reading "Dragon Kidz Only" so they could play Halo in undisturbed bliss.

I saw one of them playing chess with himself the other day. Rather odd. Most of them are seniors now so it's died down a bit. But that's a Dragon Kid.

I'd have to disagree. While those are two of the main groups, there are other noticeable groups at our school.

Swimmers

The rich kids with crocs that play lacrosse and like to party too much. Among other distinct characteristics

Wannabes of the above group

Sadly, African Americans

Rowers

By the way, your definition of the Dragon Kidz hits the nail on the head.
