Do YOU Pirate Music?

Featured Replies

Just wondering, do you pirate music? I don't, buy it off iTunes. I feel guilty when I pirate music. Plus it's illegal.

I heard lots of people pirate it, is this true?

I do, and it's not illegal. It's wrong, but that's a different story.

It's not illegal? I thought it was. :o

I don't know anybody close to me who doesn't "pirate" music.

I don't.

I buy my CDs, because, well there are piracy laws and such, at least this way, I have the original physical copy.

Though admittedly, I used to. I have a copy of a CD which I now own.

Yeah, I feel guilty downloading it illegally off the internet too. :(

The majority of my music is ripped off my CD's and the rest is just single songs off iTunes.

So no, I buy.

Ranger Boot Count: 1

Zerkers: 4 Hatchets: 2 Warriors: 2

Occasionally if I really like a song I'll buy it off iTunes. Otherwise I just listen to it on Youtube/Last.fm if a full track is offered. Occasionally I buy CDs.

Nothing illegal.

[bleep] yes.

Only if I really want it, though.

I usually will buy it at FYE or on iTunes if I'm like, "Eh, I'll get this when I feel like it."

Usually often with new releases.

Not really. I usually buy my cds.

Yes.

I'm not going to try and morally justify it or anything. I just do.

Yeah, I barely buy any CDs anymore. No job and such.

in the past five years I've payed for two songs. out of 7500+

I buy tons of vinyl, and convert them to mp3, but I still have roughly 3,000 songs I torrented.

catch it now so you can like it before it went so mainstream

I torrent them because I listen to stuff you can't get in the UK. If I do listen to someone like that then I still torrent it. It's just meh, I'm not proud nor am I ashamed.

Yes, I do. Although I have begun buying CD's that I like when I have the money and can find them. A lot of the stuff I listen to you can't exactly go down and buy at your local Best Buy, however.

Hell yes, definately. I like certain songs of certain bands, whose CDs are hard to find nowadays and whose other songs I don't give a damn about.

With CDs/albums, you get a whole leap of overpriced songs. By pirating, I can get one specific song.

About 95% of the time, yes. If I love a CD, I'll try to buy it though.

Ok?

Absolutely, musicians don't make as much off an album as you might think. They make money off touring. I go to concerts, pay them well worth their while and download their music.

What? I can name 8 people who posted before him who admitted to pirating music and didn't have anybody all over him.

Someone sent me a link to a news article that claimed, 'People who pirate music are 10 times more likely to buy the actual thing' or something along those lines.
