Would it be worth keeping if I have a fury? I just did a task of 144 of these, and got a ranging amulet. God, it's horrible there, full of kill stealers. Took me over 2 hours. But luckily I got an amulet, though not sure whether I should keep or sell? What do you guys think?

What are you talking about. If mages don't bring another way to fight then they should lose to range. They know they're weak to it and they should take their own risks.

Seriously, though. Not to sound cocky but I've sparred against a friend of mine in the duel arena who's a maxed-out tank and he was using range and I was maging only. I won every fight \

 

 

 

Mage is the best combat style in a 1v1 duel.

 

 

 

Though, when it comes to needing to kill someone before they run away, it's obviously better to hybrid :P

I killed about 20 just for the hell of it and happened to get an ammy. Considering how many people seem to be getting them they aren't at all rare. 200k is the most I can ever see them at. If they're any higher it's a waste. +5 range and a lack of other bonuses is not worth it.

true but fury is still 2.8mil.

I don't know why many of you talk about the amulet in the context of PVP, but this amulet won't be cheap enough for PVPers anytime soon. However, this would definitely be useful for people who finish some of the slayer tasks using range, like black demons, fire giants, greater demons, bloodvelds etc. Regardless of how good is the defence bonus of fury, I'll still take this amulet for max offensive ranged bonus whenever necessary.

 

 

 

That being said, this amulet would be a steal if it drops to like, 300k. At least I don't have to pay 1mil+ for that Unholy Book, yet. :thumbsup:

 

 

 

 

 

And what can you do with a new magic equipment anyway. The spells have fixed damage, people are still going to complain about how magic is underpowered, and I don't think a level 78 slayer beast can give you something that will boost the power of mages overnight anyway. I'll rather hope for some overhaul upgrade for mages as well as some graphical changes to the spell animations in the pipeline, then get a "amulet of better magic" that gives +15 mage attack bonus.....

This is an awful amulet :roll: a 3rd age mage amulet for ranging (which is never used anywhere except when praying or safe spotting,which in most cases a furys prayer bonus would be better than the +5 anyway....).

I was Reallllllyyyyyy hoping for a magic update, but no, this just weakens magic.

When you could sacrifice +5 range bonus for defense as well as prayer, I would say the amulet is less than appealing for most practical scenarios. Unless of course the price drops, in which it becomes cheaper (welfare ;) )

Sell.

If you plan on safespotting one day, it will be useful. If you only use ranged for PVP or tanking, a fury would be better.

I'll stick with a glory for the prayer bonus.

Range ammy is atm 10m street price. ~2m in ge. Fury is 3m at most. That is why everyone is comparing it with a fury.

Isn't a fury only about 700-900k more? Also, I believe these are currently unbuyable, whereas furies can be bought. Unless you're a low defence ranger who plans to always safespot, a fury would be the better investment. I personally just want one of these so I have the option of a safespot advantage or my fury when training with other methods. :thumbsup:

Magic was given a brutally powerful update.

 

They can now farcast and safespot without getting PJed.

 

Combine this with spell stacking, and the fact that a very skilled mage can even safespot a ranger, and mages become very dangerous indeed.
