What movie(s) did you last see?

I watched American Psycho. It was hilarious, one of the funniest movies I've seen in a while. It was good, over-the-top acting and fairly well written and extremely interesting, plus I watched it on Blu-Ray and an HDTV, so it looked amazing.

SPOILERS:

[hide]Despite the fact that the ending fit the movie well, and I couldn't see it going any other way, it still felt really cheap. I dunno why, that's just how I feel.

Also, I've never laughed so hard at a guy getting chopped in the face with an axe. It was really, a very funny movie.[/hide]

It is quite enjoyable. The Huey Lewis and the News part is awesome.

Stardust - Watched it again, liked it as much as I did last week :D .

The Dreamers - Definitely a good suggestion Daan :D . It was great. At first I thought it was mostly just going to be about the three main characters being film buffs and generally just BS'ing about films the entire movie. I was enjoying it of course, the part where Eva Green does the scene from Breathless was great, I don't know why that was so awesome to me. The movie went from being good to being great when the main story started. At first it was just "French people do some stuff differently" then it was "these people are different even to French people". You get drawn into their characters. Also, you get to see all of Eva Green. Don't want to put spoilers so I won't say much more, I just think if you are a person who likes films you should put this on your "too watch" list.

Yea, it's great huh. :) The Breathless scene made me shiver as well. It was amazing. Same goes for basically every other scene with the archive material of famous movies. I recognized Scarface, but I think I wouldn't have answered either. :P It's pretty funny hearing yourself in bed yelling "Top Hat!" "Breathless!" "Scarface!" etc. :D If you liked The Dreamers a lot. I suggest you also see Les Enfants Terribles, since the Dreamers has got a lot of similarities to this movie. But Les Enfants is more intimate than The Dreamers. It got released on criterion a couple of months ago. :)

I also really liked the scene when they raced through the Lourve, like in Bande ÃÆÃâÃâà part. I haven't seen Bande ÃÆÃâÃâà part, still it was great. I'll try and find Les Enfants terribles, sadly my disposable income right now is nothing so I can't just buy it.

Du Levande (You, the Living) - My god, did I ever get a bad cinema experience with this one. Only 9 people in the whole room and still I got all the horror of a bad audience: two old ladies giving a running commentary all the time, one crisps bag and a teenager girl who couldn't leave her cell phone be for more than ten minutes. To add insult to injury, the sound tape got completely distorted 30 minutes from the end, resulting in an awful zooming noise, which only stopped 5 minutes before the end.

The fact that I still enjoyed the film, shows its sheer brilliance. A whisp of Tati, a bit of melancholy, great music. Mankind in its littleness, without being depressing. Funny, weird, beautifully shot, without pretention, it cuts to your heart. I'm also a big fan of the sing-song Swedish language.

The problem with the movie was it had one too many historical errors. Apart from that, it was a fine movie.

Every time I read about Braveheart, that is the critique that is thrown at it. It's annoying because it's no more inaccurate than any other Hollywood historical epics - Spartacus, Alexander, Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator etc. all have historical in them but aren't criticised because of that. It's just something I've never understood.

If anything should annoy you about Braveheart is Mel Gibson's Scottish accent. An Aussie trying to sound like a 13th century Scotsman....come on.

I love The Dreamers, at first i was like indy, hoping this was not going to be some film maker paying homage to his influences, but it was really intense in a french drunk kind of way. Interesting, and the end was enjoyable as I do like the sight of the French protesting on the streets of Paris. However its hardley a rariety.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.

1_man_army, I know you probably hate me giving a few negatives on Braveheart, but its just that certain historical errors sort of bother me as a wanna-be historian.

Anyway, we all love rock music. Why am I bringing this up? Because you'd rather want to bang your head to these classic tunes than banging your head on the desk after watching Tenacious D: Pick of Destiny. Jack Black and Kyle Gass star in a lamer-than-life "film" thats stars Tenacious D in the search for a magical pick that just isn't that interesting to care about. If you haven't heard of Tenacious D, I will let you know that its a real band. Now, the fun in Pick of Destiny was very hard to find since I had to endure poor, offensive, and downright unfunny jokes and dialog. If you ask me, the dark side of rock bands is their drug use and to actually be in a movie like this makes me wonder.

I don't hate you lol. I understand why a historian would have problem with historical errors. I've just never understood why people single out Braveheart for its errors but don't do the same with other films.

Just because I'm Scottish doesn't mean I have a pathological hatred of anyone who dislikes/critiques the film, it's a decent film but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it.

The Jerk - A 1979 comedy with Steve Martin. That pretty much should explain everything about this movie. Enjoyable, but nothing great.

The Breakfast Club - A classic that I never really got around to watching. I watched this on hulu.com, which censored it like no other. Censorship usually takes away from a movie, but it doesn't completely ruin it. This time it did. I'm very disappointed that my first time watching this movie was screwed up.

Accepted - Generic high school/college comedy. Not great in anyway at all, but can still be entertaining. This is a little less entertaining that the others though.

I really enjoyed that actually. I watched it in company so maybe it seemed funnier than it actually was....

Bourne Ultimatum was the last one I watched. I've already seen it at the cinema but watched the DVD last night. Great movie and a fantastic ending to the trilogy.

I know they're talking about extending the franchise. I usually cringe when I hear this, but the Bourne series definately still has some milage in it yet :)

Movie trailer

With Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn in Lord of the Rings) and Naomi Watts.

Great movie about the Russian Maffia. The fighting scenes were awesome, they looked stunningly real.

I hope someone else has seen it to, over here :)

Yea, we had an 'exclusive' premiere at the film by the sea festival in September. It was fantastic.

Still haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

Once - I saw a list of the best movies of 2007, and this was number one so I figured I should watch it. Yes, it was pretty great and I enjoyed it. I don't know about number one of the year though. It's kind of a romance movie, kind of a documentary. About an Irish guy and a Czechoslovakian girl, both musicians. I think if you enjoy music a lot you would probably like this movie.

Gattaca - Talking about this in OT a few days ago, and I felt like watching it. Awesome SciFi movie.

"Dead Like Me" season 1, 2 - This TV show was great. It plays on a cable channel like Showtime or HBO, so I never heard of it before. I couldn't stop watching it, it's what I did the entire weekend. It's odd but cool at first, and after the pilot you would probably be drawn in. The deaths are mostly pretty stupid, which was bad at first, but then you kind of think of it through the characters eyes and it seems fitting.

I Am Legend - Still new so I wont say much about it, I would just suggest not reading/watching any of the previous versions before watching this one. It's still really great though.

Was it any good compared to the original book by George Mathieson? I know it was written about 70 years ago, but I felt it was well ahead of the times with a great ending.... was hoping the movie would fulfill this.
