New smithing rates pls. I hear its very expensive.

Has anybody checked yet to see if sacred clay hammers work (give their bonus XP) for the new smithing activities?

You must use a normal hammer.

Assuming ore prices remain on average similar to the past, adamant ceremonial swords are roughly 10gp/xp based on experience figures in the knowledge base. Hopefully either the experience figures I'm using are incorrect (i.e. this new thing about one-time bonuses can be gotten semi-frequently?), or the experience per hour is much higher than existing methods.

If neither of these things are true, then it may still be more efficient to smith adamant platebodies with sacred clay hammers. Even if it isn't what we were hoping for, Jagex has clearly gone to a lot of effort with this, so it'd be a shame for it to turn into the next charm sprites.

I have bad news. Even as a new training method, this area appears very deficient.

I first taught myself how to quickly make ceremonial swords decently well using a bunch of iron ingots. I'm sure with more practice it's possible to get better, but not substantially so.

I then used 20 adamant ingots to make adamant ceremonial swords. This took me half an hour, earned me 97,655 experience, and cost approximately 1.37M at average historical market prices (not current extra-high prices). This places the experience at around 200k xp/hr, and the cost at about 14 gp/xp. It turns out earlier figurse of 10 gp/xp were too optimistic, based upon achieving perfect swords every time, with no breakages.

Straight-up smithing adamant platebodies, with no bonuses, gives about 250k xp/hr at about 12 gp/xp.

Using sacred clay hammers and a scroll of efficiency, adamant platebodies would give the same experience as ceremonial swords, but at only 5.6 gp/xp. (Figures courtesy of Grimy's spreadsheets).

So in other words, not only did this update fail to provide the smithing revamp everyone has been asking for, but it provides training which is inferior in every way to already-existing content.

Unfortunately, you're looking at the new charm sprites :(.

I'm sure that the experts on this thread can manage more XP, and faster, than I did. However, I'd still be very surprised if it turns out better than previously-existing methods. Maybe there's some value to be salvaged from unexpectedly-good runite ceremonial swords? But I doubt it.

I haven't tried the update yet, only read the news article. I imagine you didn't count making adamant ingots (I think they are like bars and can't be bought from a dwarf) which means they are even lower than 200k/hr :(

That's a bit biased, taking tips on how jagex runs their polls kaida? So I'll add this- like this post if you don't want it changed.     Just playing devils advocate.

  • There will obviously be a huge arena, just like the Colosseum in italy, and server with a capasity to hold 10k players, then, suomi is in the middle of the arena, 10k people sitting on the seats, then,

  • From the data we have so far, it appears that anyone who is capable of achieving 200m in all skills would be overcome by their ego and then fail to get the final xp.   As of right now, it looks like i

Making adamant ingots is actually fairly instant. The machine just fills your inventory, it's not like smelting. Of course you also get no experience for making ingots.

Do you get respect for making swords and can you spend respect on xp? I doubt this will increase xp much even if you can =/ I think they are the new charm sprites but even charms sprites were useful for skillers.

I don't think this new update changed getting 200m smithing much. It's still best to superheat gold while mining and not sure what's best for the remaining xp but addy plates are faster and cheaper xp than addy ceremonial swords at least.

If anyone ever looks at the tracker for farming, you will see that 1997ball is #1 for month and I'm #2. 1997ball is my brother irl :D

We are both going as fast as we can, and I have a 10m xp lead over him :P I plan to beat him, but we want ranks next to eachother if possible. He wants to beat me but I wont let him :P I'm selfish about my ranks.

Not many pro runescapers out there with another pro rs player in the same house I wouldn't think.

Are you going to slow up at the end to let him catch up to get ranks next to each other?

Maybe he will play vinesweeper :o

Yeah as long as no one else beats me while I wait. And he may catch up to me anyway since he slays a *little* bit, and will use the effigy lamps on farming he thinks.

He's not 13 :P He originally had the account 1993ball but started that one with a friend. Then he wanted to start his own so he just made a random 4 digit higher (lol idk why) 1997ball. He tried for the name Ball so he can stop getting that question but someone took it while he was at school >.< hopefully they let him have it eventually.

You get respect for making swords but there is no xp reward for respect points (I guess you can just call it that). So no this didn't really change much if anything at all.

If/when I have children I will name it 1997bag or paperball still deciding

Simon and Reedtzlol are brothers.

^I knew that.

The problem is people have 13B+ to spend on all 200M XP but the ones that are pure dedication are almost impossible. Think of it this way, at 2 hours a a day you could get 13M Runecrafting XP (99) in 250 days. Now multiply that by 15 because that is about 200M XP, it would take 3,750 days if you played at least 2 hours a day, everyday.

You are right, but people going for all 200ms or at least the top 15 play well more than 2 hours a day. So your point is kind of invalid.

This isn't 2007

We don't get rc exp at a rate of 25k per hour

Woot top page range :P

I actually have something interesting to say. If it weren't for myself, I dont think I would have made the top page.

I noticed 1 person on the top page and many more on the 2nd and 3rd have almost no stats ranked except range and hp, plus *very* few lower skills. I figured they were avansie bots. Which they were. All their adventure logs said the same type of thing. With no drops of any sort except xp gaining.

So I posted about it on high level forum and then half of them (the higher ones) got banned the next day :D

Still a few left though on 2nd page, you can tell by the very odd names and stats. like Z7Z7Z7Z7Z7Z7.

Shun Zi99 was 183m range when he got banned. Look up on tracker if you want :P He would have beat me.

Not that anyone cares about my skill stat ranks but I just wanted to share that Jagex does listen sometimes to top players :P

Sweet, now posts about the hundreds of other bots all over the world!

I was wondering - generally how many hours a day do you/other top players play for and how long have you been going at it?

Does anyone think that someone in f2p will get all f2p 200m's? It would probably take less time than an extra 9 skills at a faster rate.

El popo1 has 1bil xp with 200m range and cooking. I heard range is a difficult skill to train in f2p. Maybe there's a player with more xp who doesn't have 120 dung.

I don't think it would take less time, as f2p ways of training skills are much much more slower.

El Popo1 is rank 1 F2P in both levels and total xp. The people right below him are Water and S Diamant Y who quit. So, Water is his only competition. Although my moneys on Popo.

Makaveli_93.png

I agree with Makaveli, El Popo1 pretty much has the most chance if their xp rates won´t change that means.

Also, all skills in Ftp 200M will definately take longer than in Ptp, for instance rc can be maxed at 10k xp/h which means 20.000 hours of runecrafting. And that's only 1 skill....

Superheat.

EDIT: lol, 834 days of runecrafting 24 hours a day to get to 200M

EDIT2: the assist system could possibly raise the xp rate a bit.
