It would be unrealistic to think that this game will last forever... Eventually, one day, this game will become outdated. For all we know the whole Hiscores might change one day, which would have a dramatic effect on the Rank Competing community. I think it would be more fair to have yearly hiscores AND an overall hiscores.. Because someone who starts today really has no chance... It is possible but not realistic. And most of the people "rooting" for those who are getting 200M probably won't even be around to see it happen...

Wouldn't it be something for Jagex to go bankrupt tomorrow. Imagine how many lives would be changed.. I almost hope it does happen one day. It would free a lot of people from being slaves to a computer.

Hi, just thought I'd make a quick post since I've never posted here before. Even though I just skim through a lot of the pages some things are actually really interesting to read, Langers weekly updates being one of those things.

 

As a few others already pointed out my goal is not 200m in all skills. I just happen to have a lot of time to play at this time of my life and being a kind of competitive person it was just natural for me to go for ranks after maxing total in late 2009. I don't see myself getting 200m in every skill though, but who knows, Runescape is only getting easier and easier. 3-4 years ago I never thought I would reach max total level... let alone 2B+ xp.

@Assassin, obviously xp gains will change depending on what skill the player is training. I wouldn't say Drumgun is inconsistent at all. I really like this idea of yearly hi-scores on Runescape.com. I know you can track people but to have it on the actual website would be pretty neat and give the newer guys something realistic to shoot for :-)

until everyone in the top 10 or 5 has maxed all buyables hunter thieveing + melees/slayer(i consider slayer a slow skill but with all the effigy and the combat exp....it is an awesome choice for overalll exp) then it wont become clear who will accually do the slow skills or not and how they will fare or choose to do it (camping effigy is still an option ) =p because many people keep short term overall exp spurts and ranks as a sign that someone can get 200m all. A few 100m-200m months training buyables will eventually come 15-40m months training a slow skill @ current exp rates but hey it can always get changed.

Remember that even if it comes to the point where Jagex closes down all but 1 server and does no more updates, its still reasonable to expect several thousand "die hards" to stick with it past this point (I mean look at classic, Server 1 the never lost access server still has old dogs playing, now imagine if it allowed new people to join up, thats a good way to express how runescape will be when it stops getting updated and its gameplay/graphics stop getting updated with the times).

New people could join rsc last year, there are veteren worlds for the older players. It wasn't massively popular after the first few days when everyone realised how aweful it was.

The one spell from livid worth considering (if you plan to RC versus effigy any part of 200M rc xp) is the pouch repair. Friends are reporting well over 100 runs on the giant pouch in between casting the repair spell.

before the 20% decrease to time it was only worth it if you plan on getting 67m+ rc xp by rc ing so now i guess its 53.6m rc xp or so worth it to get the actual spell, obv use it if your unlocking all the spells anyway just saying its not worth getting for the sole purpose of rc ing unless going for 53m+ rc xp by actual rc ing npc contact only takes up 1 minute/hour

For anyone that didn't know lololol. Basically *everyone* thought that desperado worked with Hexhunter bow and now they found out that the tedious ring switching they did was for nothing. I'm so glad I got that bow yesterday and not months ago L. Once again uber trolled by the Jamflex corporation.
