11-Nov-2009 - Send Us Your Specs 2009

Featured Replies

Back in May 2008, we asked players to send us their computer's system specifications. The information that we gathered from this proved to be very helpful, so we'd like to repeat the process again this year.

If you'd like to send us your computer's specs, please visit this link and log in to begin. You will be guided through an agreement page to make sure that you understand what is required, and the process does not take long, so you should be back to RuneScape in no time.

The applet is completely secure and official. We can guarantee that your information will only be used by Jagex to develop future games and improve RuneScape. It will not be shared with any other organisations.

Once you have downloaded and used the program it will tell us the following things about your computer:

* Your operating system

* Your graphics card

* Your CPU

* Your Java version

* Relevant graphical drivers

When we've gathered together all of this information, we can begin planning RuneScape improvements and our future projects to work within these specifications. This means that very few people will miss out on any such future updates.

Whatever is coming up as a result of this will probably be good :thumbsup:

[insert birds flying in a circle here]

Yes, that sig was annoying.

Did it as soon as I woke up. :) I'm sort of glad they're compiling this data on what seems to be a yearly basis now.

I hope people with the bad comps won't suffer from this (*looks sadly as his own comp*). Besides that, this can't be anything but a good update.

Sent mine, will be interesting to see what comes out of this. :)

What could be higher than HD? RLD! Runescape will now come in the highest graphics posable, Real LIfe. :P

OT: I wonder if this has anything to do with extended use of Runetech 5? Maybe the bloom effects or such? Can't wait to see :mrgreen:

Come, be my light.

Mingle with my darkness

May we mix to create

Our own twilight sunset

The dusk breeze

Spreading clouds

On our murky horizon

That's what I was thinking. Since the bloom effects are one step above (in a way) from HD.

I think that with the use of the new RT5 abilities in Zanaris, this might be an indication of that somehow. They might want to find how many people could use the bloom effect, or maybe it's just they want to see how many people would be able to use any more advanced graphics that they might make in the future.

I think it's also a sign of the remake of Mechscape/Stellar Dawn. Before they set to work, they want to gather what sort of target they'll be aiming at. If a large portion of the players have high graphics capabilities, they would make that a priority in development. It's a standard part of systems development, researching the end user.

Specs?

Your computer specifications. Like processor, Java version, graphics drivers...

Ok, thanks.

I don't really care about graphics at all, gameplay > graphics. I would much prefer it if they fixed up the glitches of our banks first, that'd be nice. I'm kind of sick of getting item 4 tabs over and screwing it up.

Not only are you sending your computer's specs, you're also sending any important information to Jagex HQ.

Do not be surprised if you get a $1,000+ credit card bill in the mail 2-3 weeks from now.

Oh Jeez. *facepalm*

Do you really think they would risk their company like that? They're not scammers. And they've done this before, last year iirc. Do you think they'd be doing it if people had been scammed by it last year? :wall: :wall: :wall:

This game isn't exactly Crysis here, I think we can agree that there has been much more effort into gameplay than graphics.

Anyway, it's all about gameplay and graphics working together, it wouldn't be too healthy for the game if both were ignored completely. It's been a while since High Detail now, it's about time Jagex moved on to slightly more advanced graphical techniques like particles and bloom.

I sent my specs in as soon as I saw the post.

I sent my specs as soon as I saw. It's nice to see that they actually care if the players can use the updates they make.

PS-> I SURE hope they used this as a way to scan computers for macroing software. :pray: (did anyone read the Terms & Conditions?) because according to a person I met ingame, the major bot site from back in the day is up and running again and that can only lead to more restrictions and freedom removals in the future.

hmm good comp abysmal video card

don't screw me over jagex :thumbup:

Not too surprised. It's probably for the upcoming RuneTek5 upgrades (Bloom, Particle effects, Skyboxes) and some initial information for Stellar Dawn.

But considering that the last time they did this, it only took them about a month before releasing HD, we might be getting graphic updates pretty soon! Maybe before the end of this year! :thumbsup:
