Well...it is DEFINATELY true that fishing spots move more quickly and trees fall more quickly while there are more people present, so you will spend more time moving to spots, so more people will slow you down overall.

Trees work differently than fishing spots. I don't know how people think fishing spots move more often when there are more people. They move without people fishing on them, unlike trees.

yup definitely no waiting line for dice rolls.

may not be relevant but take mining for example.

If 2+ players mine the same iron ore at the same time, they both get an ore.

When was this implemented ? - as far as i know only one piece of ore spawn in each rock at the time no matter how many players trying to mine it at the same time.

If it's true (which i doubt) does this also hold true when it comes to mithril and addy ore ?

Apparently this was always implemented, except for a short period of time in between RS1 and RS2 in which it was not, due to a bug.

runescape game update: June 14th, 2004

Mining rocks and thieving from stalls

The new RuneScape launch inadventantly made it harder to gain resources from these in competative situations (where two or more people are trying to get the resource at once), since only one person could ever get the resource at a time. We have now fixed it back to the old behaviour where if both people are successful at the exact same instant, they will both get the resource.

Well...it is DEFINATELY true that fishing spots move more quickly and trees fall more quickly while there are more people present, so you will spend more time moving to spots, so more people will slow you down overall.

I personally never a relationship in the rate at which fishing spots move, and the number of players.

Does farming herbs give rocks? I've been farming tons of wergs and no rock =/

how many runs? typically takes me 10-20 herb seeds for a rock.

But yes herbs work, however It's not impossible that Mod Maz forgot to add wergalis to the rock list.

they forgot gold ores at first afterall.

uh trying to figure out all the little ins and outs of how this update works is giving me a headache.

So so far you don't get mineing stones per rock but per swing.

do you only get agil stone per obstacle or is per lap now?

and just found out that when using falcon to catch kebbits you don't actually need to catch anything and you still have a chance for stones.

Wondering if the above is true for other traps as well?

And i'm still waiting on an answer as to weather wc and fishing behave the same way as mineing?

Me behave? Seriously? As a child I saw Tarzan almost naked, Cinderella arrived home from a party after midnight, Pinocchio told lies, Aladin was a thief, Batman drove over 200 miles an hour, Snow White lived in a house with seven men, Popeye smoked a pipe and had tattoos, Pac man ran around to digital music while eating pills that enhanced his performance, and Shaggy and Scooby were mystery solving hippies who always had the munchies. The fault is not mine! if you had this childhood and loved it put this in your signature!

Guess I'm gonna keep farming them then, I've done around 35 seeds, I hope I get them soon, getting kinda impatient lol.

You get it at the completion of a full lap.

Or in Brimhaven you'll get per 10 tickets.

I've been trying to get farming #5 all week and nothing :| Gonna resort to planting potato seeds..

This is indeed effective. You get a chance EACH time you pick a herb / flower / veggie. I personally just add sweetcorn / strawberries / watermelons to my farmruns if I need the rocks. Don't do cabbage (can't note that!). If you have white lilies planted, everything is protected anyway.

For the construction portal: Have a study near the portal. You can just make teletabs and earn money + magic exp while waiting. Don't just sit around.

The agility rock just got a whole lot more fun due to being able to get it from all courses. 72 agility in the process :)

But a big tip, due to a discussion earlier saying that alternating between rocks increases your chance. Here are some ideas:

Willows at Draynor --> Master farmer --> Willows --> master farmer (4 rocks easy to alternate)

Hunter at Piscatoris area (either falconry / box traps / dead fall traps, what ever you like) --> Monkfish (rinse and repeat)

Firemaking / herblore / fletching are all skills you can do near a bank.

Smithing / Crafting --> Smelt gold (with goldsmithing gauntlets) Turn these to amulets!

Construction is harder, but like I said, making teletabs is just awesome.

Mining --> Bring superheat runes and make bars on the spot. You can stay long, get some bars.

Also you could just mine iron and bank it. Later melt / smith it.

So many tips ;) so easy to combine!!

Actually, it's just the one patch cabbage can't be noted at. It can be noted fine at the others. And can you really blame the poor leprechaun that's north of the cabbage patch for not wanting to deal with the stuff?

I just make gold bracelets usually get both within 300.

I find coifs pretty good and combo them up with fletching maple longs to get the fletching and crafting rocks.

If you buy the gold bars, bracelets will cover the costs and make a little profit selling min on ge.

Why not do gold neckalces? You can sell them for w/e the min price is on the GE to the rogue person. Gold bars are like 110gp each and gold necklaces at min on the ge atm are 227.

I've been making gold bracelets and alching them. Perhaps necklaces would be a better idea?

A lot of this discussion just makes me wonder what type of random algorithm Jagex is using in Runescape. I have to wonder if they're using the same algorithm with slight modifications for each skill or game play feature, or if they're using completely different random algorithms for every case where a random is needed.

I don't think it would be that hard to figure out if they're using the same algorithm but just 'modded' or fit certain skills/features in the game, though it would be easier to prove if they were using multiple algorithms if they weren't heavily fine-tuned.

Figuring this out would enable players to deduce a large array of useful information like what trees to cut and when or where based on ratios, places to fish and when, and how to manipulate situations to your advantage further.

Testing would only need 20 individuals doing whatever controlled task, like fishing in 3 different fishing locations.

Things to test would be to see if fish collection rates +/-, increases fishing area removal/refresh rates, and the types of fish you receive when you do 'catch' a fish.

For woodcutting it is relatively the same: log collection rate +/-, tree respawn rates +/-, tree depletion rates +/-.

Knowing these rates will lead you to an algorithm, or even just general knowledge on what trees to really cut if there's 3 guys on one tree and 5 guys on the other. Should you try to cut the tree with less players in hopes the tree provides you with more logs, or would it be more wise to chop the tree with more people because in the long-term it'll yield faster refresh rates and thus a longer overall time of 'chopping' the tree down, which may increase your overall chance of receiving wood then if you were to chop a tree that provided a higher instant chance of logs but did not respawn as fast. Logically or reasonably you'd go for the tree with less people, but perhaps there's cracks in these numbers to exploit.

I tried the tater route for a while - I would go to Ardy and steal enough seeds for a run and then plant them in all the allotments. And I would do this again and again and again, without getting a stone. Guams & taters.

I finally just broke down and bought watermelon seeds. Now I am getting my stones much more quickly.

I think there is some other modifier besides just harvesting that Jagex is not being forthright about.

This week I got the hunter rocks alot faster.

Got the first one after 11 red chins, then the second when I hit a total of 100 red chins.

With runecrafting, I got the first rock on the first inventory of astrals, then the second rock the inventory after the first. :)
