15-Mar-10 Lumbridge Catacombs & The Blood Pact

Featured Replies

Again, I don't mind a newb quest, but the 300 QP reward is an epic fail. Why did they even bother giving a reward if it is both totally worthless statwise and doesn't look good for any outfit besides maybe a decent forum avatar. Honestly it's a huge slap in the face that the even the catacomb mask has better stats than the 300 QP reward.

ANY quest will be able to give someone 300 QP after the next quest is released. Low IQ?

Yeah no DUH I didn't say "reward for completing all quests". And REAL mature with the personal attack. I'm not even complaining about the quest, just this specific reward.

It is basically a combat triangle tutorial for newcomer f2p'ers, what would you expect?

I'm talking about the 300 QP helm. As it is, it's barely worth even asking her for after completing this quest, let alone going back to her after completing some other quest to put you over 300 QP.

The mask, I like. It's the first F2P item with + attack on the helm slot. Very useful for new players. But even IT has better stats than the 300 QP helm. THAT's what I'm saying.

Gosh, even if they made the helm equal to a rune full... or an addy full... ANYTHING... but ZERO? Good golly gosh, what is is made out of, tissue paper?

Something more? Anything more?

People arent complain about the reward for the quest.

They are complaining about the extra reward for having 300qp.

Given that we get some highly useful equipment on the way to 300qp (helm of neitz, soulwars cape etc.) it seems crappy we get jipped with a helm with no stats, no emote, no effect that doesnt even match any other items thth well

So really, in my opinion, since Nomad with the exception of Stryke drops and the lobby changes, it's been junk lately.

-edit- I don't expect super updates every week. I simply expect more than we've been getting. That's my opinion.

This.

Though we're only a couple of months into the new year we kinda should be getting something....... more....... it feels a bit lacking to me.

Reacting impulsively and saying what's on your mind feels oh so good.. for a little, until you realize you just started WWIII.

2672nd person to reach 2496 total.
Thanks to Wicked for the awesome siggy :D

We've got some spoilers so we can just wait for those to unfold and hopefully meet expectations

I haven't tried it out yet, but the 300QP reward looks interesting. I wish people would stop complaining about updates, it's not like high levels haven't been the focus of updates the last month or so. Also, we've just had a bonus exp weekend as well, you can't exactly say that isn't an exciting update.

I think the Staff looks pretty cool, main reason I will ever do this quest.. Oh, and of course for the 100 Attack, Strength, and Defence rewards....

Yeah, but it feels like.. Like we're fogetting something.. Some big thing.. Actually three big things that has, will and is about to happen.

First of all, The Xp weekend. If anyone complains that it wasn't good enough, they just cant appreciate free stuff, and frankly, they are greedy little whiners. One could argue that it's not in the spirit of the game, but that has nothing to do with it.

Next up is the skill that IS close to come, and it's gonna be a big change. Sometimes, looking ahead and having some patience is a good thing.

And the third could actually be two seperate things. It's the new bosses and the fremmenik mystery. We might not know much about it yet, but it'll come out when we least expect it..

And if you'd think about it, it's a good business planning to release smaller things first, in preparation for big things, like a new skill.

It's actually quite hilarious seeing that everyone seems to run right past the stairs leading to the catacombs entrance...

First off, Quest wise, I think this makes a great introduction to the combat triangle, making up for the lumbridge tutors no longer actually tutoring you. It shows the beginings of escort quests as Xenia taking a hit (she has some 4 live points, got hit a 2 while I was there) resets the room. You are prompted to try out range, and given a moral decision. The first opponent is easy enough to spare, the second is iffy, but her honorable kneeling while asking me to smite her was good enough to let her go, the last.. well, I vaporized him on the spot.

Second, the dungeon. No more ranging rats and running from highwaymen who get lucky, you get distinctive critters that use all three sides of the triangle, and respond to the respective side of such. I might even be tempted to come back with crumble undead.

A chance for newbies to venture into a progressive dungeon and try out a boss fight before they are ready for the stronghold of security, i approve.

Equiptment... Nice to have unique looking things, but in the end you get a shortbow, and bronze sword, and a basic staff (not even magic staff) with unique models. Though you can quickly upgrade in the dungeon as you go along, getting a bronze mace to deal with the critters, a magic staff to give another boost to the woefully inadiquate air strike. Runes and arrows are common drops enough to keep your range and mage going, along with bronze, copper, and tin so you can smith up new melee gear should you die a few times. Bronze chainbodys/meds and leather bodys/coifs were also present, keeping your newbie all equipted. Still doesn't compare to mining out a gem and getting full iron right off the bat from the GE, but good enough for the starting player.

As for the mask. Overpowered. "WHAT", you say, but here's the thing, remember, this is a f2p item, and even with p2p, the attack bonuses from the fighter helm have been removed, making it a choice, if a poor one.

Hmm... the necromancer has the same staff as Dahmarock

The quest is actually a perfect tutorial quest tbh. It's probably the first thing in game that explains the combat triangle to a new player. I just wish the helm you get for the 300 QP had some sort of stats <_<

What mask are you talking about?

What mask are you talking about?

The mask in 5 parts, scattered thought the catacombs. It's like bronze RFD gloves for your head.

Monsters in the dungeon drop parts of a new mask. Click.

Now, on the topic of the quest itself: I think it's great that F2P get an update. Perfect way to teach new members about combat.

Does the final helm from the dungeon give +5 atk/def bonuses? If so, this is by far the best helm to use for Corporeal Beast, and it's free. I'm liking this :D

The 300 QP helmet looks a lot better in the inventory then it does when worn. It's hardly noticable and they could've atleast added an emote or whatever.

Oh, I'd like to see the 300qp helmet combod with the quest cape please. Really like to see it with a trimmed quest cape, though.

Can someone plawks tell me if there're 5 pieces to the helm from the dungeon?

Sorry to burst this for you, but there is no "final" helm. :P You have to gather 5 mask pieces to make a mask which gives +1 to all offence and defence stats.

im not arguing with the quest, in fact i sorta loved it as far as a great intro to rs for new accouints

but thats besides the point, i think the rewards and all is great for nubs and i wouldnt change a thing there, what i want is a better 300 qp reward -.-

that helm is pathetic

5 pieces, yes. Spreading out in the rooms.

But it is a mask though. The helmet is from getting 300qp

Anyone tried using the mask on the helm yet?

Really pointless. If that was true, then you could get the hat before the cape and you'd instantly have a trimmed one. Which kinda beats the point in having two 99's.

I wish people wouldn't whine just because - for once - an update wasn't for you. They've done so many high levelled updates over the past few months, give them a chance to do something for the low levels and F2P for once <_< You lot have plenty of content to play with for this week, be nice and share Jagex with the 'noobs'.

This.

When you start runescape it can be very intimidating to a noob who just started. Hell, this would be awesome for me back when I started. But everyone thinks that the updates that are coming out should ALWAYS be epic, like a new skill or some awesome piece of equipment. So just lay off the noob F2P quest, they are players just like you and require some updates.

However, one thing that did strike me was that the helm is...useless in my opinion. I have a feeling that it will come into play for future quest updates. And I have a small feeling that we should see a big update with-in the next 2 weeks. Just a gut feeling.
