atestarossa
I'm a little surprised there isn't more people that actually pick up their piles here.If you are careful with your timing, it's possible to pick up almost every drop without loosing any time at all, as you have quite a lot of time in between each attack with your weapon. Some tasks can give 20k+ each task by simply picking up the stackable drops you get. If I do this? Not with gold piles worth under 2k; I'm terribly bad in thinking about several things at once (and a quite lazy as well), so I'm better off by not even trying, unless it's valuable runes or something like that. Adellund
If you farm herbs ten times a day, you make roughly 1.4m if you're at the average herb yield. that takes approximately 2 hours of time in TOTAL, besides the waiting time obviously... if you collect 100 coin drops every slayer task, you make roughly 60k, that takes about 5-10 minutes longer for each task. pretty much summed it up... and if you don't get the point, then I'll carve it out for you: WE HIGH-LEVELS DON'T CARE ABOUT 500GP DROPS ANYMORE SINCE WHIPS SELL FOR MILLIONS, AND GRANITE MAUL FOR HUNDRED THOUSANDS OF COINS ASWELL.... hopefully the caps will clarify the point now .. :ugeek: Woohoo........ And damn- beat me to it. If you're paying attention for a while I've definitely made it a habit to pick coins up in between whip hits. Is it worth it? No. But it doesn't cost me time if I'm willing to focus on it every now and then. I don't pick up all coin drops, just when I'm feeling like it. Bobbington
As a high level (level 134) it really annoys me, I am very obsessive about it and feel the need to pick up all coins..... if there are a few people not picking up it really does eat into my training time. It brings be much rage (and cash)
zotto
I will pick up gp piles that other people leave. I'm also fond of those people that leave steel battleaxes and such on the floor. Ronan
They need to come out with something that collects your coins like bonecrusher buries your bones.Reminds me of Silkroad Online where you would have micro-payments for small 'pets' that would run around picking up items that you've specified it to, and leave the others. Man, did you get lazy after using that for a while though, even so - it was cool to have... Probably not the best thing to introduce to RuneScape though. ;)
Sy_Accursed
As most people alreayd pointed out for 99% of high levels the coin drops just aren't worth it.Sure all the coins on a garg task might be 3k, but most of the other drops you pick up are worth 5k minPlus between boss hunting, pking and skilling pretty much every high level has some method where they can make cash so easily. Heck most players have mtk running and that gives like 1 - 2mil profit a week for doing nothing Operation Gold Sparkles :: Chompy Kills :: Full Profound :: Champions :: Barbarian Notes :: Champions Tackle Box :: MA RewardsDragonkin Journals :: Ports Stories :: Elder Chronicles :: Boss Slayer :: Penance King :: Kal'gerion Titles :: Gold Statue
Maximusa
Both because the more time you spend on killing them the better chance you get a meaty drop thats worth something and because its quicker to make gp in some other way compared to the time taken to click each monster. A single runecraft run would probably make more money while being atlot less annoying than clicking and waiting to pick gold up for every single monster. I wouldnt necessary call it lazyness.. In real life if I had a job that gave me 10 pounds an hour, but on the route to work that I walked I discovered loads of 5 pence coins littered around randomly across a football field would I really care? It might spend me an hour picking that all up while I miss out on a hours wages which would of given me 10 quid with alot less hassle. Obviously picking up monster coins from gargoyles isnt as bad as 5 pence but its still not good enough for me compared to what I could earn much more conveniently for better coin. edit: Plus the animations take freakin forever to die on most monsters nowadays. They dont usually drop much else so you would have to either wait or run back from attacking something else. Which may slow you down slightly. Either playstyle of being slow or fast I would find it quite annoying to wait out animations. Saunamajuri
It only takes me 2 seconds or less to take them, so I always pick them up. Well, atleast if the coin pile is reasonable and not something like 38gp. "An Amateur practices until he can get it right. A Professional practices until he can't get it wrong." Quests just keep bringing me back to this game.
obidiah
I normally pick up coins drops - possibly force of habit from Classic - feels wrong to leave them on the ground though. I also tend to bury my big bone drops (which was the best way to level prayer in classic) - but I often see them being left these days.

timmmmm83
I will pick up gp piles that other people leave. I'm also fond of those people that leave steel battleaxes and such on the floor. It gives me free magic experience. I don't care about efficiency. I'm playing a game. This reminds of a week ago when I was slaying gargoyles. One other guy with slayer cape was in the room with me.I leave my coin drops on the ground unless when I see it is a big pile. That guy with slayer cape picked up every single coin I left. Was actually very suprised by that, doesn't happen very often.
Triquos
As others say it's chump change. It may be worthwhile in the long term, but those precious seconds picking up measely amounts of coins add up over time. That extra time could be used killing more monsters etc. I usually pick up coins if the coin pile looks as though it's more than 3k+, other than that it wastes my time. meb
Same reason I don't pick up anything below rune; annoying waste of time that earns me hardly anything. xpx
...leave the coin piles of monsters that they've killed on the floor? I was killing Gargoyles today in Kuradal's dungeon for a Slayer task and two level 138s wearing full Bandos/Fury with DFS and whips kept leaving their coin piles from Gargoyles that they killed on the floor. Now I can understand that the piles aren't that big, but after 100+ kills (which is what the average task consists of) that can add up to a good amount of cash. I mean is that one extra inventory space worth the few k that would be there instead of a random object? Maybe I'm just greedy but I just don't get why it seems that some higher levels just leave basically free gp lying on the ground. Your thoughts? Are you one of the people who doesn't bother picking up coin drops? Or....?With a 3b+ bank and training slayer with overloads/turmoil/chaotic rapier it'd cost me much, MUCH more to pick up the coins i get on the task. Firstly, time is money, and unless the coins add up to around 2m an hour it's not worth it. Secondly, i'd use alot of prayer points and overload time picking them up, and i doubt the coins would repay for that loss. First to 99 Farming on 27. September, 2005.First to 3766 Port Score on 20. Myweponsg00d
I pick them up because I have gotten to where I am today by playing very casually over many years (I played classic for about 1-2 years). I play the game and whether or not something is efficient timewise doesn't really bother me. I take a sense of enjoyment in picking up most/all of my drops. Need assistance in any of these skills? aspeeder
The opportunity cost of that space is usually larger than the worth of the gp, and if I start to make a pile it's harder for me to drop it so I just never pick up coins while slaying or training. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 32 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 9 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots
