I would join it, would be first server i wouldn't lagg heaps in.

I tried a server recently, and everything I was walking around the outskirts of their city there were these huge deep strip mines. Scared me the hell out.

 

And then, I was following this guy exploring the server by following tracks. Well we got to one of the strip mines which wasn't there before, and I thought I'd keep following him, because he easily got right across. So I do, and I fall and reset to my original location I started crossing this thing over and over again.

 

I absolutely HATE darkness, mobs and heights. Seriously :(

 

Edit, I went back, and unlike before:

 

1. There was no strip mine

2. The tracks actually ended

Edit2: Went back again and the wall that blocked the tracks the 2nd time around was gone :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

I would host a server since my PC can handle it....but sadly my Internet Provider is a totally different question. :(

AMG Herobrine!

I've seen Herobrine once. Can't prove it of course, but other people have too. There's a chance Notch added him a while ago. I doubt he'd tell us if he did.

I know there is a plugin for SMP which allows you to spawn a Herobrine that will go and kill players. According to the host of the server I go on. Can cause interesting reactions :P

What type of crash was this? Did your computer suddenly shut down, or was it just Minecraft?

(Also - did you make any backups?)

I'm pretty sure you can retrive the world's seed, but I believe you can only restore your constructions if you have a backup.

 

But yeah, it sucks that we have to play with these types of bugs, even though the game is in beta. Once the game moves out of beta we'll probably have a less buggy experience. Hopefully. :P

However, you'll probably want to be running Bukkit on your server, once it comes out, as it fixes a bunch of the bugs that exist on the vanilla server build at the moment. Bukkit is the successor to the hey0 plugin, apparently hey0 isn't going to be updated anymore and had some deeply rooted programming mishaps that were starting to make things difficult.

How can your saves even BE backed up? I have been through the folders and haven't found anything that even remotely looks like it.

It's somewhere in the bin folder I believe. Called World1, World2 etc. probably wrong but worth a shot.

C:\Users\INSERTYOURUSERNAMEHERE\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\saves

 

Just copy the folders in that location and place them somewhere else on your hard drive. That ways if the originals get messed up you can just copy and paste your backups back into this folder again.

[bleep]ing redstone torch burns out every time I flip a switch. It's not supposed to do that :cry:

 

All I'm doing is make a series of [bleep]ing AND gates for a combination lock. I know I'm doing it right too, because it's the exact same set up as my last one. I didn't change the number of gates or anything although now that I think about it, I do have a different number of switches that need to be off than before. Maybe that's it.

 

 

Edit: I was doing the combination wrong which was burning out a torch. AKA I'm an idiot.

Found a server by a Youtuber named Pwego.

 

Pretty good server with well done architecture and pictures of what they would like to see built. Hoping to make them a massive mall structure and lobby, which is awesome, since building one of my passions :thumbsup:

My PC also crashed and my world also got wiped. Well, I thought. When I click on 'World 1' I ended up in my old world's spawnpoint with no items on me. However, everything I had build was still there only a short walk from my spawn point. Everything was the same way I had left it but I lost all the items which werent in chests. Which isn't that big of a deal. Just happy that my work is still here. :)

Nah, I tried that. It's freaking gone. 50+ hours of work freaking gone. When I start a new world, [bleep] mining. INVedit is my new mine.

when you crash and the world is 'gone', most usually it's only the 'level' file, and not the files that save the information on all the chunks. just back that file up often. only on a few occasions have chunks gotten messed up when my game has crashed (i'm on a laptop, overheating is a problem...)

Anyone else find huge cave systems... annoying? I found one on my new world that's HUGE, with dozens of branching systems. Several stacks of iron, some gold, lots of redstone, LOTS of coal, a few diamonds, and even some goodies from a dungeon, and new systems are STILL being found. Kind of tiring, really.

 

Think I'm just going to abandon it for now and go back just when I need stuff.

I find those all of the time. At some point I just stop and go back outside.
