Can you also use texture packs in the free version of the game?

Unless they changed it you need to have the downloaded version which you have to pay for. The free classic version is only available online so you can't change the textures.

  • Well I've sorted that one out.     Every time I put my architectural skills to use in Minecraft, I keep thinking how stained glass is not a thing yet. How is it not a thing?

  • Apologies for late reply but I am not very active on tipit and don't play runescape at all anymore.   I have had a few pretty big mod reviews! It kind of blew up and snowballed at some point, most con

Having trouble with minecraft now, so much fun but i lag like hell. Found an awesome world the other day, was gonna make my home in a cave with lava in it. The lag made me fall in the lava and lose all my stuff  .

Hehehee....

Made my house out of Obsidian, turned a giant plauteu area with TNT and rigged it with pressure plates. Try and get me now Creepers. :shades:

Did you put the TNT close enough that it will set the rest off?

Started work on my warehouse, to store all my materials. Remodelled my tree base which I've had for ages and made it more user-friendly. All my crates used to be in there, and I only had a few crates, one for each material, and one for random crap. Hence why I'm making a three story 13 x Something (around 13 or so) for a whole heap of crates.

Go big or go home, eh?

Nar, I created spacers from Obsidian so that I have place holders to replace them and they wont all go off for a bang.

So, after playing some Mount & Blade, I saw this and immediatly wanted to do this in Minecraft. Of course, I quickly ran out of cobblestone, since I decided to make it a 25 blocks wide circular tower. So I headed to the bottom of a quarry which I had already made, and started digging 2-block tall and one wide tunnels in random directions (with lots of turns and whatnot, to make it more insteresting). After about 40 meters, I ran into lava, got arround it, and found 6 diamonds. GREAT!

I go back to the quarry and start another tunnel. Because I'm playing on an outdated Alpha version, I often have problems with many sound files, which apparantly are fixed by disconnecting your internet, which I didn't know (but at the time all of this happened I didn't have internet). So I'm mining all happy when all of a sudden I start hearing growls coming out of nowhere. I swear to god that [bleep]ing zombie scared the [bleep] out of me. Worst part is, I NEVER SAW ANY ZOMBIE, but the growls coming from behind the tunnel's walls, I knew that if I mined in the wrong direction a zombie would jump at me. But I kept on and found 6 more diamonds so it wasn't that bad.

tl;dr: Minecraft got me as scared at survival horror games, and I feel silly about it.

I play without sound and there's seriously nothing scarier than turning around and seeing a creeper charging at you sizzling. And somehow I always turn around right before they blow up.

I found like 30 diamond today too, Merry Christmas myself.

I've learned three things today:

1) Fireplaces are glitchy. Bricks don't stop fire from spreading.

2) Examine what's UNDER your room before you burn it.

3) Never, never, never put TNT next to lava.

Reall creeps me out when i can hear but not see mobs. In one of my games when in my base i can hear skeletons.

So yeah, after watching lots of that X guy's Let's Play videos, it inspired me to start playing Minecraft again, with mobs this time. So, I started a new world, Hard difficulty. Went pretty well, I made myself a little base, got some iron weapons/tools cowhide armour, food.

Then I ventured into a massive cave I discovered under my base. Oh god. I came out with lots of iron, some redstone, four diamonds and emotional scarring. I guess the audio of my copy is messed up too, because I can only hear the mobs walking, no groans or anything. Skeletons are awful, awful creatures. And I don't make any noise when I get hit. So I'm like walking around, placing torches and stuff when there's a shuffling noise and bam I'm down like 2 hearts and freaking out. >_>

Playing with monsters and stuff is much more enjoyable than on Peaceful, however nervewracking it is. Before I was just doing stuff for the sake of doing stuff, but now I have a purpose. I still wish there were like boss mobs, similar to the dungeon/mob spawner places, but with a single tough monster that has special abilities, and he actually gives useful loot (special armour with bonuses, weapons, food). I cleared out a Skeleton dungeon and got a saddle. What.

Oh and can you make Diamond Armour? That would be cool.

sleep like dead men

wake up like dead men

Yes, yes you can. Though it's easy to lose with mobs and falling damage and not nearly as useful as a diamond tool. Though, with the right texture pack it can look pretty nice.

Disconnect your internet for full sounds. And the saddle is for riding pigs.

By popular demand, this signature is back- however I currently do not have a blog up at the moment and if I did I wouldn't update it. Sorry, the sig links to nowhere :( .

Started playing Minecraft again today, I think I'll actually get into it this time around. Found some diamonds and stuff, been mining a lot but I'm not sure what to do next.

Start building random [cabbage]. On the world I'm playing now I built a plumbing/sewer system, because why not.

There was a video I was going to post. I forgot what it was because TIF was down yesterday. I'll see if I can remember.

Found it.

I'd like to do some cool stuff with water, but I can never get it to flow the way I want it to. It seems to have its own ideas about how it wants to interact with other blocks.

FUUUUUUUUUU- There goes more supplies. Falling into lava seems to be my only death nowadays.

'Just hold shift herpderp' That time it didn't help at all. :wall:

Down six more steel.

Just got Beta, and John Smith's Texture pack, and did a sort of temple, inspired on the picture I posted earlier on this page.

Also, I've been messing arround with portals and the Nether. This is cool.
