02-Nov-2010 - Dungeoneering The Warped Floors

Bought the F2P prayer amulet, since it was only 8500 tokens.

Twisted bird skull necklace

"The skull has been horrifically distorted."

Requires level 30 Prayer (and DG) to wear. Grants +1 prayer point for each normal / burnt / bat bone buried. Also grants a +9 equipment bonus to Prayer.

No weight. Cannot be alched. As far as F2P amulets go, it looks pretty good.

My first new boss encounter. The Smuggler told me it's part of the Gorajo. It uses Magic, Ranged and Melee. It has high magic resistance and RUN when roots appear from the ground. If you don't run, the roots will cover you, and damage you for a lot. I got damaged for 653 and this guy is level 122, so I'm guessing it's special can hit 990 on a 5:5. No idea what it drops, it didn't drop anything.

Do human bones drop in clan wars? That could be only use for necklace that I can think of. Not many 90+ dungeoneers that aren't already maxed.

You have to pick up 99 of them to restore your prayer.

Thats almost a joke.

It's only use is if you have Bone Crusher, and even then you're giving up the necklace spot.

You might aswell take the Tt biscuits with you and restore prayer with them...

Although I guess for F2P it's half decent.

Why can't the Big Bang be done by the hand of God?

It could have, but it is next to impossible because it also could have been caused by the flying spaghetti monster, or one of the other infinite number of deity possibilities.

Prayer necklace+bonecrusher? Sounds like it could be pretty useful in some scenarios.

So the spirit cape only works on familiar special attacks that don't use scrolls. Hmm.....Well, could be the KB is messed up again (for the 9001st time it seems). But really, how the heck are you supposed to get a familiar special attack that does not use scrolls, and still costs points?

Unless Jagex really is trying to reduce 0 by 20%. Which would explain the original cost of dungeoneering rewards, the current cost/level req ratio of the bonecrusher, and the BXPW multiplier timers.

Some specials (like the unicorns "cure" drains summoning points when used). So I think they mean that... but not sure what else there is that does that =/

^ 100% sure that is what it does. What a completely random and useless item. Disappointed in all the rewards except the prayer necklace :(.

How is the Unicorn considered a combat familiar? And are we talking special move points, or summoning points. The "Cure" ability costs like 2 summoning points, how are they taking 20% of 2? From the way it was worded: "The special attack cost for combat summoning familiars is reduced by 20%." The special attack bar that your summoning familiar is where you get special attack from. The unicorn scroll costs 20 special attack points, the steel titan scroll costs 12 special attack points. These do not drain your summoning level at all.

The ring of Vigor says: "Members only. Requires an Attack level of 62 and a Dungeoneering level of 62. The ring of vigour has a strength bonus, and reduces the cost of any special attack by 10%." You get special attack energy from your special attack bar at the bottom of the combat style screen. It doesn't cost attack levels to slice and dice something with D claws, it costs 50% of the special attack bar.

Familiar special attacks do not drain summoning points, they drain off the familiar special attack bar. And they require scrolls to do so. If you don't use scrolls, you don't use that special attack bar at all, therefore, your special attack cost is 0, and Jagex claims that the Spirit cape reduces the cost of doing this by 20%.

The only thing I can think of is it will be like Fairy Tale III, where they added the reward in game, but didn't really put it in for a while afterwards. I'm talking about the farmers keeping your patches clear. I did that quest day of release, and I cleared all my patches, and they all grew back because Jagex hadn't actually implemented the quest reward, even though you were still told you got it when you finished the quest.

I can record runescape in perfect quality while in fullscreen, but this new homepage lags so much it's annoying.

And I still don't get what they did to skill capes. Say's they updated the icons to match something. O_o

I wonder if the zealot necklace is a big ripoff. For example "add 5% of 15% to make 15.75%"

I think it'll just be a flat +5% bonus.

Also ran into a new challenge room just then. It involved a "mercenary captain" who would periodically call for help, summoning a forgotten mage / ranger / warrior. The captain himself looked and fought just like an ordinary forgotten mage, apart from the calling for backup. Was level 98, pretty high as far as F2P monsters go.

I didn't have time to take pictures, but one of the new challenges is Mercenary Leader.

Big combat level (I think it was 130s), casting huge earth spells, maybe surge. Summons other forgotten warriors/rangers/mages to help with the fight, all of which have Tier 10 gear (I was in full Katagon w/2h, max for me due to defence and attack level). To complete you have to defeat the leader, but when you've got three different attack styles with Tier 10 stats coming at you with 70ish defence it's pretty difficult to land a hit without needing to eat food more. Died once, in the end I deflected mage and focused on the Leader, just taking the other hits (including a Prommy 2h) on the chin.

On the other hand, I noticed more bovimastyx in the dungeon than usual, all of which gallimastyx. Just an observation, there may be no connection. But I'm wondering if using ranged armour and praying melee/ranged coupled with plenty of food is the best move? Leaving a gatestone outside the room may be a good way to avoid a cheap death too - I didn't do this because I just saw what looked like a forgotten mage, only to find out it was far more powerful and summoning other humanoids capable of hitting me with triple digits.

Anyone know if the prayer necklaces work with the bonecrusher, if the zealot amulet works with leeches, and if the surgebox has a chance to deal extra damage, like the blastbox?

[16:13:59] Mike: Amulet of Zealots, 40k. +2 to each attack, -8 penalty to prayer points, improves effect of prayers used on single skill (so not piety, but like the +15 strength one)

[16:14:23] Mike: Spirit Cape 45k, +3 to each defence, reduction of cost of combat familiar scrolls

[16:14:51] Mike: Split DRagontooth necklace, 17k. requires 60 prayer ( and I assume dung) 1 prayer point for normal bone, 2 for baby dragon and wyvern

[16:15:11] Mike: Celestial Surgebox 65k - used to store wave and surge spells

[16:15:40] Mike: Sneakerpeeper Spawn - 85k - 80 dungeoneering. Pet stalker

[16:16:05] Mike: Demon Horn Necklace, 35k - 90 dungeoneering (prayer too), 1 prayer for normal, 2 for baby dragon/wyvern, 3 for dragon/ourg/frostdragon

[16:16:41] Mike: Scroll of Clensing, 20k - chance make potions quicker + save secondary item

[16:17:27] Mike: Twisted Bird Necklace - 8.5k - 1 prayer point per normal bone (30 prayer)

Honestly, there's nothing in this update that makes me want to reach warped floors, still just going to get 85 and then flat out stop like before; none of the rewards are even contenders compared to current items, much less replacements.

EDIT: And from the looks of things maybe they should've released on friday, the cape doesn't work and the floors are buggy as hell.

An example would be Ash blast from the phoenix familar. I don't see what else it could be, The special attacks take scrolls and even if its activated from a headpiece it would have no effect as it doesn't drain your special bar.

This is what I was saying. The forge regent has a right click fireball option, but the right click options don't drain familiar special attack points. The only thing that uses familiar special attack points is scrolls, and it needs to use special attack points to be considered a special attack. Otherwise its just an ability that the familiar has, like the Unicorn's cure, or the Lava Titans +10 invisible firemaking boost.

The knowledge base says it's not for special attacks that use scrolls though, and people tested it and it doesn't work with the steel titans scroll attack.

So. I bought the zealot necklace, split dragontooth necklace, surgebox, and the new herblore scroll with the tokens I had been saving for a rapier.

And then I read this topic... Zealot necklace now seems like a waste. The other 3, notsomuch. (dragontooth necklace because I can use it with my bonecrusher and save a few ppots)

Here's hoping Jagex realizes that the zealot necklace is a piece of crap and making it more useful.

If I read the knowledge base article right, the Demon Necklace is fairly useless.

The necklaces have the ability to give you prayer points, but the difference in the necklaces is that they can give points for different bone types.

So even if you have the demon necklace, you get 1 prayer point for normal bones. Bones that give 3 points per bury are Dragon, Ourg and Frost Dragon.

(Might have been said already, I skipped a bit of posts.)
