Den
Tasks similar to Slayer for Agility? Bad idea. Because Slayer is grind no matter if you change monster or not. It's a annoying grind. I never mentioned agility tasks, you did. :PI said more agility courses so the scenery changes more often. Nobody wants to look at the same thing for ages.Brought up slayer tasks because they have a variety of tasks. Having more masters would give different sets of task monsters and thus, creating more variety which would in turn make it feel less like a grind. It would still be a grind of course, it just wouldn't feel as much like one. ........::::: Rainy's YouTube Channel - Rainy's Twitter - Rainy's Facebook - Rainy's DeviantArt - Rainy's Tumblr - Rainy's Tip.It Profile :::::......... Nifflin
Agility tasks wouldn't be a horrible idea if we had more courses and they required different approaches. PM me in game anytime It's a lot easier then that for an idiot to sound smart on the internet. That's exactly what you're doing right now... just saying. Dire_Wolf
But it would be better to try to make something fun out of future Agility training updates instead of releasing Agility courses that will make you "feel" that it¨s not a grind. And honestly if the course was short and the difference places to click was easy to "click" (example pipe hole at Wilderness course) i¨d not mind grinding that skill. But i would prefer a fun way to level the skill.
Jolletzu
Nobody wants to point out how to make the game less grindy though, incidentally. :P Fun training? Rc, hunt, agil are all really grindy. Ba horns are a step in the right direction (even then, only if you like ba)A better idea would be to just give quests 100k XP rewards (like wgs, prisoner of glouphrie, etc). That'd actually make them worth doing from an efficiency point. Fun is rather subjective to each person, but I'm all for quests giving more exp. Quests are the best part of the game. Other then giving quests more rewards, I think the way to go is to make things feel like they aren't as much of a grind. With Agility, this could work by having tons of different courses, maybe one every 2 levels or so at the higher levels and a few more in the lower levels. It works pretty well for slayer. You kill 200 of one thing, then get a new thing. I think more slayer masters are needed though, mostly from 80-95 or something around there.Quest rewards are fine as they are, for me they are just good bonus, quests are not meant for rewards anyway. Sy_Accursed
I think a more apt way to say it would be:Not ALL quest are meant for the reward. I think quests fall into 3 categories (not that they can't overlap as well)"Fun" quests - obviously subject to person opinion but not meant to take a lot of effort or give much reward. Just entertaining or tounge in cheek entertaining at least. I'd say a lot of the troll quests and One small favour fall into this group.Lore quests - quests that teach us a fair amount of lore. I'd place early elf quests and meeting history firmly into this lotReward quests - quests that are challenging in some way and should have a decent reward pay off. I think in quests that should be rewarding, like most of the higher lvl quests and quests fair way into story lines jagex does often miss the mark with their balancing. But on ones that are obviously primarily about lore telling and/or being fun while not challenging too much I think rewards are about right. Don't you? That depends, some lore quests like WGS need no "fun" aspects to make them enjoyable imo, and having wacky bits thrown in can ruin the tone of more serious quests. Those kind of quests are few and far between I'll admit, but I'd rather have a quest that does one of those aspects well than attempts all 3; the less chances you give JaGeX to fail the better. http://i700.photobucket.com/albums/ww6/aspeeder/Siggy_zpsewaiux2t.png 99 Strength since 6/02/10 99 Attack since 9/19/10 99 Constitution since 10/03/10 99 Defense since 3/14/11 99 Slayer since 8/30/11 99 Summoning since 9/10/11 99 Ranged since 09/18/11 99 Magic since 11/12/11 99 Prayer since 11/15/11 99 Herblore since 3/29/12 99 Firemaking since 5/15/12 99 Smithing since 10/04/12 99 Crafting since 9/16/13 99 Agility since 9/23/13 99 Dungeoneering since 1/1/14 99 Fishing since 2/4/14 99 Mining since 2/28/14 99 Farming since 6/04/14 99 Cooking since 6/11/14 99 Runecrafting since 10/10/14 9 Fletching since 11/11/14 99 Thieving since 11/14/14 99 Woodcutting since 11/20/14 99 Construction since 12/03/14 99 Divination since 2/22/15 99 Hunter since 2/23/15 99 Invention since 01/20/17 99 Archaeology since 5/14/22 99 Necromancy since 11/22/25 Quest Point Cape since 08/20/09 Maxed since 2/23/15 Fire Cape since 02/27/13 Slayer: 3 Leaf-Bladed Swords, 8 Black Masks, 2 Hexcrests, 26 Granite Mauls, 5 Focus Sights, 33 Abyssal Whips, 9 Dark Bows, 1 Whip Vine, 3 Staffs of Light, 15 Polypore Sticks Dragon: 10 Draconic Visages, 7 Shield Left Halves, 20 Dragon Boots, 40 Dragon Med Helms, 8 Dragon Platelegs, 6 Dragon Spears, 20 Dragon Daggers, 5 Dragon Plateskirts, 1 Dragon Chainbody, 63 Off-hand Dragon Throwing Axes, 19 Dragon Longswords, 27 Dragon Maces, 1 Dragon Ward Treasure Trails: Saradomin Full Helm, Ranger Boots, Rune Body (t), Saradomin Vambraces, Various God Pages Misc:1 Onyx,1 Ahrim's Hood, 1 Guthan's Chainskirt, 1 Demon Slayer Boots

Fun is, like you said, subjective. A quest doesn't need to be wacky to be fun. A quest doesn't need to be serious to present lore. There are many aspects that you can focus on when designing a quest, but focusing solely on one will leave you with an experience that feels both lacking in content and tacked on. Sy_Accursed
I never said the quest types were exclusive. Nor did I say a quest falling into one category meant it ignored the others entirely.I simply meant the PRIMARY aim(s) of the quest. Not all quests can be primarily aimed at rewards. Not all can be aimed at being sheer light entertainment. Not all can be aimed at telling lore. And to clarify further by "fun" quest i meant specifically the wacky light hearted quests thats goal is to be entertainment and fun. Not quests that are fun to do, but are more about challenging you and/or contain serious story elements. Dire_Wolf
It's easy to say "make something fun". It's not as easy to actually do it, because someone will always not find it fun. This got rather off topic though. :PWill i get paid by Jagex? Or will my thoughts of how to make something in Runescape better go to waste just like everything else? And i will have you know that i am always open to feedback on suggestions i make. And i try to see it from different perspectives as well. If Jagex can screw game up with BH drops, Climbing boots, Soceress garden (100000000 bots), then they dam hell should be able to fix it up as well. So why should i have to come up with the ideas? Jagex won't listen... And players don't care to much either. I say this because i made a topic with small miscellaneous fixes (hopefully) for July Patch Notes. Very few people on TIF cared to comment on the list of fixes. Very little feedback. So why care to go out of your way to make Runescape better with thoughts and ideas when most Runescape players and Jagex don't care to support you? Jagex acknowledge different fansites and from what iremember the fansites could not advertise for other Games other than Runescape. What has the fansites achieved? Some small gifts and a "J mod mystery slave" (So J mods are better than regular players - cool.). My point with fansites and Jagex connection is that, why can't a fansite, a big community, reach Jagex? My goal was to have Jagex consider the different fixes in the "Tip.it Miscellanous patch notes" list. "We want to listen to our players". Right.
