I'm completely torn about whether to go or not.

 

On the one hand, London is there. Right there. On the other, I'm at uni, and there's the cost, and ARGH.

There's no way I could afford to go but I'm very envious of those who can.

I won't be attending, as I am going to the U.S. Open in New York during Labor Day weekend. So that will eat up my funds. I've seen a lot of people talking about to University and not being able to afford it. If you are a student, you should check out Student Universe, they have great discounts for students wanting to travel! I used it last year for the U.S. Open and saved around $75 off my flight and like a 10% discount on hotel (10% lower than the other major travel sites).

Currently discussing funds with the only irl person I know who plays.

Cost and the fact its close to Christmas is a deciding factor for me. Plus spending alot in RL doing up my home right now so may well not have the spare cash for it anyway.(rather do up my home than spend it on a convention).

Would love to go- few people who i would love to meet up with again, and friends on RS/here i could meet up with.

They're based in Cambridge, and the closest other city is London (which is well connected transport-wise, and most planes go there/close to there). Holding it in Cambridge would probably be cheaper for them, but it's not well connected transport-wise, and you'd be looking at the same price for hotels

For convenience to get there Birmingham would be batter as its central England- everyone would find it easier than spending 2 1/2 hours on a coach (for me anyway) just to get to the capital.

The price being the only inconvenient aspect for me, I'm sad that I won't be able to go :( I'd even be able to crash on a friend's house if I was to go :D And that VIP ticket really sounds unique :P

I've heard the max price will be £99, (meaning if you buy the full price one, the £179... they'll refund so much), but this is just a rumour.

 

It's a shame I don't really play any more, I'd actually go because they didn't put it on the SuperLeague Challenge Cup final day like last time, maybe I'll get persuaded by someone to actually go.

My opinion is that they will no refund the ticket price, or even a portion of it. If they do want to give something back to the attendees they can always provide free food and drink instead.

I'm seriously considering attending this time around. I'll be in Germany (rather than in the States), so the flight over to the UK won't be quite as bad. I hope everything works out, although there's no way of telling at this point. :pray:

Train is £50 for a weekend return, which sorta sucks, I may see if I can get a coach or something...

Nat Express cost me £25 last year for a return to Birmingham for Runefest.

I would presume that being a good 60 miles closer to London than i am it would possibly cost you £15 ish? I would however take the train if you could afford- I was on the coach for almost 3 hours (next to someone who had a body odour problem too). You could at least walk around on a train.

I didn't say it was RWT, Jagex is doing it theirselves so by their (changed) definition of RWT it is alright. After all, it is a free gift.

As in: "There is absolutely no <bleep>ing way to obtain the FREE item without PAYING."

 

I am not starting/reopening the same discussion and won't touch the subject again, just wanted to vent some caged anger. :razz:

(Just like most people who read this month's BTS and thought they would have to pay extra to get 'Loyalty Points' 'to unlock a fantastic range of items', this is not much different to me)

Wondering if I should shell out for a ticket for the in-game item, heh.

Had this decision to make last year, went against it. Have to see what this year brings.
