Are you people really getting this upset over a 10% xp boost that can last up to a month or so? Sure, the idea that you can technically "buy" an xp boost is silly, but that's just players abusing the system, not Jagex's decision.

If people really want to spend ~30 dollars abusing this refer a friend thing for a bit of bonus xp, go ahead. It's not affecting me one bit.

I bet jagex is aware it will be abused, that's why they made this programme. This way they can come off as not selling game boosts for real money when they are confronted. Using abuse as defense. For all we know they may be delaying bot issue til they have profited money for game projects. I rather be critical of than glorify a company.

Then again why play a game in which the "updates" are outside of game exclusive instead content updates that you can do ingame.

It takes roughly 1 hour for 20k summoning experience. If you wanted 99 (Which you could easly get in a day or two if you already had the charms.) then you'd save 1.3m experience with this. That's about 65 hours of collecting charms avoided, and about 5m worth of secondary ingredients saved.

99 herblore costs about 200m. With this boost you'd get it faster and for only 180m. Few hours and 20m saved.

Prayer is 150m. Another few hours and 15m saved.

You could easily get all of these in 2 weeks, saving you about 75 hours of gameplay and 40m for only £7. Pretty good deal.

I fully intend to do this once i have the charms. Its LEGAL RWT. Jagex are only angry about it when it's not them getting the money. Anyone want a free, unused account with a months membership in a month or two?

How bad is their timing? They actualy release an update people are satisfied with and then pull this the next day? Do they make sure that they can't go a whole week without pissing off a majority of their fanbase?

I have a theory too: I think MMG taking over is the MMO version of the movie Major League. Maybe they gotta drive down the number of players so they can move Runescape to a different console? <_<

I'm like a hot mess, but without the alcohol.

You might as well use your charms on BXPW for the same effect. BXPW is also great for herblore training. The question is, does this +10% xp also stack with BXPW, and does it work with training methods that usually don't work with BXPW, such as gilded altar prayer training, sacred clay, barbarian assault horns, etc. Either way, it's not a huge impact on me. Saving a few hours and a few mil gp for the cost of real money (and your dignity) is fine by me.

Honestly, I would like it to be changed so maybe it only works one week per year, or just scrap the xp bonus and add some fancy clothing to show off how many "friends you talked into buying membership". But as it is now IDGAF.

See! Did I not make a post a few days ago stating that Jagex was going to stoop to a new low in the near future? Well, here it is. :).

But seriously, Jagex. Here's an idea. Since you pretty damn well allow botting anyways, why not charge a higher membership fee for those that bot and grantee a 0% chance of ban? Or is that too close to the current 0.1%?

Lmfao, getting desperate and money hungry, Jagex, and all your pathetic excuses of updates are making that pretty evident. TBH, I'd be embarrassed to even work there.

I REALLY want to get back into Runescape, yet every time I come to check in on the game there's another update that just screams "NO AVATAR, DON'T DO IT, IT'S JUST GETTING WORSE AND WORSE". Honestly, I would be entirely cool with them completely dropping development on the game to focus on something else entirely, rather than the game slowly creeping towards "micro-transactions the game". I'll keep checking in, I'll never give up hope, but this last years worth of updates, starting primarily with the free trade update, have been nothing but shameless promotions and subscription begging.

So, it doesn't work with BXPW, but what about the second part of my question?

P.S. Thanks for redirecting me to the FAQ instead of just answering my question outright and not sounding like a condescending snob.

I do online surveys to get checks sent to my house. I think I'll put them towards getting myself a referral and getting a pack yak.

If I was a betting woman -- and I am not -- I'd wager that you're not far from the truth here.

My own theory, which is mine, and what it is too, is along these lines, namely:

[bly's Theory]

The powers that be, i.e. those that currently own and operate Jagex, intend to sell "Runescape", in the not too distant future to a third party purchaser, and as a result, the more "active memberships" that the game maintains, the more "valuable" the game is in terms of final sale value.[/bly's Theory]

That is my theory, and what it is too, and it's mine.

Either way, have you any inkling of who the line-up of prospective buyers might be?

Off-hand? No. I'm not close enough to the ground to know, for sure, who would be looking to this kind of purchase.

There's a fair number of game manufacturers -- not to mention media empires -- who are all chomping at the bit to own a "highly successful" MMORPG.

That said, I've been lobbing this theory out there since Jagex rigged set up the vote to return the Wildy and Free Trade into the game. All these little nudges and winks speak to me of an impending sale -- or at least a desire to sell -- of the Runescape franchise.

That is amazingly possible, and makes more sense the more I read it. That will be interesting.

I have a theory of my own, but it may be a little far fetched.

more members=more money

But I doubt it. Bly's theory sounds much more plausible.

Surprised Jagex didn't make it stack with bxp tbh. I'd totally pay for a 1.1 modifier on TOP of my bonus exp modifier.

Speaking of which, when the hell is Jagex gonna make prayer trainable on bxp?

Anything else I can think of saying is redundant and has been said by someone already.

Squab unleashes Megiddo! Completed all quests and hard diaries. 75+ Skiller. (At one point.) 2000+ total. 99 Magic.

Buying spins make you a bad person...don't do it. It's like buying nukes for North Korea.

Well if it bothers you that the game is more fun now, then you can go cry in a corner. :shame:

The only thing wrong with it is the lack of a percentage for when you need to stroke it.

Oh great. Now bot armies will be getting an extra 10% experience on top of everyone else at no additional cost (since they were going to be paid for anyway).

This is genuinely pathetic. There is NO NEED FOR A NEW F2P PLAYER TO SUBSCRIBE WITHIN 2 WEEKS. You've barely scratched the surface of F2P... it's pointless and Jagex are simply pushing and pushing for new members.

How low can they get, really? How low... I'm shocked and appalled.

This, took me 2 years to finally get members.
