I had the same problem with tigers. I have two level 10 oxheads/morale/seafaring (the rest is all 9) and my tigers are still level 7-9 :(.

Also, past 4 days, I succeeded one out of ten long voyages (1/3 scrolls, 0/2 bones, 0/2 plate, 0/1 chi, 0/2 laquer). Plus failing a lot of steel but I only send the 700s anyway.

Crew just seems extremely random and the boosts for it seem not to make any significant difference. I haven't even got the 4% lodgings boost and i've rolled 4 harem 2 band 1 tiger 1 ox(well, 1 ox is given anyway) in less than 50 rerolls. That said, after i recklessly rerolled 2 jade merchants to get my 4 judges faster, i only managed to get the last 2 by the end of the bowl. And don't even talk to me about 10k captains...(only got one so far that i can keep for max crew).

It's an average.

For example; For the 700 Steel voyage, 60% of the time you send it out you expect to receive all 700 Steel and 40% of the time you expect no Steel. Therefore, over time, you expect to receive an average of 420 Steel per voyage.

Think of it like sending 100 voyages. You'll succeed 60% of them, earning 60*700 = 42000 steel.

If you send 100 voyages at 200 steel 95%, you'll get 95 * 200 = 19000 steel.

The expected value above is what you can expect to get from a voyage. Even though you can only get all/nothing from a voyage, it'll average out to the EV over time.

Ah I see, that makes sense then :) thanks!

I have been having somewhat better luck, but as a whole the Pincers is disastrous and completely dull and boring once you get all the scrolls you want + the crew/ship upgrades. I have had all my crew + ship + buildings and have been in Pincers for weeks. I only do steel voyages for random port events and reroll the rest in hopes of getting some trade goods. So my PoPs is totally lame, all I can do is hope for trade goods -- which on some days I don't get.

Stopping the ability to get multiple port events and being able to farm adventure rerolls was a big mistake, IMO. It kept Ports fresh once you do everything else.

Here's what they should do. Un-nerf the PoP random events (not fully, but at least allow us to get more than 1 per day).

Also here's some other ideas:

1. After a certain Port score in the Pincers, Surla should be able to give you trade good voyages for her weekly 'Barmaid's Tip', since the region's voyages are all useless after crew + ship/building upgrades. So her trade good voyages should be slightly more than the standard trade good voyages for Pincers are; so instead of 5, maybe 7-8?

2. Give us the ability to buy standard trade good voyages for the Pincers for something like 4-5K stainless steel. That way, every 2-3 days you should be able to buy 1 standard trade good voyage. You'd buy it, and the next reroll you used would result in a voyage for 5 of some trade good.

These would certainly spice up PoPs and make it far more bearable once you hit the Pincers.

Also, the voyages for spices should be greatly increased, the amounts are too pitiful right now.

I think a simpler solution to the trade good issue would be to, rather than have Pincer follow the normal progression of low resource voyages > high resource voyages replace the high resource voyage tiers with trade good tiers.

So that once you are basically maxed you get mostly trade good voyages, opposed to more useless steel.

They could also make some additional items that require resources instead of trade goods (Which could have the added bonus of making ports useful if you don't have a crafting skill at 90), or supplement trade good costs on existing items with them.

Like a crafting boosting pot for PoP itself?

I have to say that i wholly agree on the lack of end game for pops. I can't even imagine what they were thinking.

But yes, in general, instead of there being a general probability for trade good missions throughout a region, once you reach a certain point in pincers(say all ship upgrades and one steel port upgrade) a significant amount of normal steel missions should be replaced by trade good voyages. Short of doing that they just need to release pops v2 asap.

Also, regarding current pops endgame, i'd warmly suggest anyone who is thinking of or has quit doing normal voyages to still consider them for chime purposes. In all likelihood chimes will still be a general currency even when we get more regions and jagex has already been considering adding 20k/50k/100k captains.

I don't think there are going to be any new regions for a while. They have sort of boxed themselves into a corner, with such steep requirements in Pincers, how high are new regions going to be? It's sort of like dungeoneering chaotic rewards, PoP armours are the reward and that's really about it. I personally don't want to acclimate to a new region, I just want more trade good voyages. Also, they need to fix the alchemy values of PoP armour; currently, chaotics protect over them which is is insanity. Getting the first set was hard enough and that was with generous rewards from storyline missions, I can't imagine how long a second set would take.

A solution might be to use resources to repair your armour, instead of coins or new trade goods.

This would make the most sense imo.

Steel & Black Slate - Tetsu

Cherrywood & Bamboo - Seasinger

Gunpowder & Jade - Death lotus

Then maybe allow Chimes to be used to repair scrimshaws a bit or give us a buttload of cosmetic hotspots that degrade overtime and eat chimes up (just for the sake of using them) Or maybe allow us to invest chimes to get time in workshop where part of the xp boost works for non-pop stuff.

I would swap sea singer and death lotus around =d

I would prefer steel to be useful only in-port, but buying random event items at the smuggler seems like a fair use for it.

(also buying storyline to help Felix' family)

^ What I did every region was upgrade crew then ship parts. At pincers I did rudder first.

Also, I have 25 port upgrades. I've done everything including all workshops, etc. I've done one of each shipwright and lodgings. What's the last one?

I have all 3 Helms and Legs, the Superior Versions that is. An interesting thing happened today to me. I had a mission for 5 Chi, 20,000 morale it was. I placed what I thought was 4 Traveling Bands, and 1 Merchant in Ship 3. A few hours later I discovered that the Merchant was still in the same row as Ship 3 crew but was no long in Ship 3 and had returned back somehow. I thought I had forgotten to put the merchant and cursed at the screen, but when mission actually returned, I somehow got 6 Chi nonetheless without any Merchants on that ship. When the ship returned it only had the 4 Traveling Bands.

You have the 'wrong' lodgings or shipwright. You'll want the morale shipwright and morale or speed lodgings, iirc. For some unfathomable reason, those are worth more than the combat/seafaring ones.

You are beast mode on those scrolls. I imagine you'll be the first person done scrolls.

I'd just wait till your done all the scrolls then see if you need more port score to max out and try the lodging switches.

If my scrolls come in at the same rate as it is now, I should, theoretically, have them all by end of april. But it's mostly just the gimmicky scrims so I might re-adjust my priorities

You do lose score for switching shipwrights iirc. And give me some scrolls, I keep failing them (at 85%+) :(.

Good news, Superior Armours can be fixed at any point of their degradation now.

Edit: With regards to scrolls, I'm just happy that I got all the armour ones. I never cared much for Scrimshaws, though I am starting to care somewhat lately.
