5 Times more common is still pretty uncommon. Honestly for 1 week it wouldn't impact much of anything....

The problem here is that we have nothing to go on. I'm not one to usually shout RUINED FOREVER (well, initially maybe) but many, many clue items were ruined forever with last armour rework. Black armour, which used to be entirely ebony, had a lot of gray tints and pointless red and white trims added. It went from a nicely done stark contrest pre-rework to a sort of clusterfudge of trims and marks which takes away from the specialness of it.

Likewise, many rune armour suffer immensely from the dongflaps that have been added. Which means nothing short of the 14 clue scroll exclusive rune armour sets are now RUINED, especially the gilded armour.

mJFE52G.jpg

More breathing room for your junk maybe, but at what expense?

Third age armour is similar. It's prestigious, it should look good. We need to know what it's gonna look like before we can make an honest vote whether or not it should be changed. Third age mage robes especially, since it's unique design with its coat extending past the avatar's hips. Jagex have said in the past that they didn't like it because it caused a lot of clipping issues and all coats since have either limited itself to upper body or have the bottom parts added to the leg armour. It wouldn't surprise me if Jagex sneakily did away with the longcoat design of current 3A mage robes if we let them go nuts.

tl;dr: I want to see what it'll be changed into before I will vote positively.

I guess people just have zero faith in the art team?

They could just go back to making everything uniformly lumpy and hire Chinese students to do all the models. Then all the armor can be made entirely out of dongflaps shaped into tanktops.

There was no need to completely rework the graphics, only improve upon them.

Perfect example in this concept art:

0cwzgPf.png

it's just too bad we can't keep sending back things for reworks because there's an endless line of visual content that keeps getting mangled but they ship it anyway and they seem to be incapable of having an entire modeling team which understands visual design when they take the concept drawings in for translation

as for the legacy vote

i have zero confidence in the playerbase to actually determine whether or not something will be beneficial for the game based on what is actually there, as opposed to something that they imagine they want, but does not actually exist

Except that's all a concept is... A concept.

Sylpheed.png

Just because it's a concept art doesn't mean it can't be turned into actual graphics in-game...

That worked well enough for me...

So basically what you guys are saying is that, even though they can make something like this, they wouldn't be able to make something more ressembling the concept art in this banner?

You're comparing a super detailed concept art for Superhero outfit with a simplistic concept art of old-looking armour.

They can't make something like this or this because of limitations in what they can or cannot do with their graphics engine/etc., but there's no reason why they wouldn't be able to make something more closely ressembling the concept art in that banner without it looking like this...

And what about this and this?

To be honest the only aesthetically pleasing recent addition is the abyssal wand/orb.

Makes me eh when that looks better then seismic (yay blue ball on stick)

Skillcape rework poll.

Skillcape Rework

Diamond

Skillcapes are iconic rewards for those who gain 99 in a skill. Many of you have asked for them to be graphically updated. Would you like this to happen?

70% required to pass

Yes please

If this option wins, a further poll will be run to determine the extent of the update - from a graphical tidy-up to a full redesign.

No thanks

Choose this option if you do not want the skill capes to be changed at all.

I have no doubt we will see 70%+ in yes for both polls.

Also this was posted as another up coming poll:

Elf Documents

Ruby

The Elf City design documents were released so that you could give us feedback. The whole process took time and resources away from the game update, but we believe it improved its quality. With that in mind, should we do this on occasion in the future?

Highest total wins!

Yes, release more

Choose this option if you liked the Elf City design documents, and would like us to reveal design documents for certain updates in the future

No, don't release them

Choose this option if you would rather we didn't release any more design documents before a game update, as it impacts the resources

I don't mind

Choose this option if you do not feel strongly on the topic

You want to stop getting 'jagex'd'? Well vote when this one comes!

Skillcape rework poll.

I have no doubt we will see 70%+ in yes for both polls.

I would go as far as to say that whether it should be redesigned or not shouldn't even be polled. If the reward for hitting 99 in a skill clips badly with your default player model, it shouldn't even have left the beta.

Sure, give us a say in what it should look like, but I honestly can't see any justification for keeping them the same anymore.

It seems derpy to me as well when people have been crying out for them to be redesigned in greater numbers and further back than the idea of 120 capes ever cropped up - there is almost no need to poll it at all just do it!

What concerns me though is that its being done AFTER the master capes - as they are higher logic would say they should look better than the normal capes and since I can't see jagex redesigning them so soon it leaves a predefined bar for normal skill capes on how good they can look.

Personally I hope they make the capes more divergent then just a recoloured repeated model - like hunter could be made of animal pelts, farming could be made of flora, woodcutting could be wooden (akin to splitbark sort of thinking), mining could be splintered with veins of ore, smithing could be metallic plates, defence could be something chunky and tank like, agility could be very wispy and light looking etc. Just something more unique and worth aspiring for than yay I now have that cape in purple with a cooking pot on!

I know this would be pushing it, but it'd also be nice to see at least some of the cape infused with a little perk utility tied to their skill just to give them that little edge and use. Nothing huge, just something little. Like maybe cooking could reduce burn rates a little for the top end foods, maybe the farm cape could reduce disease or maybe turned 'wilted' looking if a patch is diseased etc.

Well its going to be interesting to see what they do with the capes. I certainly hope they take a serious look and consideration to the player created skill models. If they do that though they might be faced with answering the question: why are 120 capes left to their traditionL looks and not the thematic designs?

I don't think they need a redesign as exquisite as made ones that have been floating around. Fix the tassels, update skill icons, gjve the shape and flow a more modern look and maybe retexture or better color shading.

wasn't that the original concept that drove the push for cape redesign up until the point where jagex managed to derail it into 120 capes that almost nobody will have (the designs of which aren't really that impressive) while the original capes are going to stay the same buggy models?

Those would be alright, but two problems:

- That thing I forgot the name of which goes around the neck area would definitely clip through everything

- Having regular Lv. 99 skillcapes look like this would mean the Lv. 120 capes would look worse than the Lv. 99 capes

Yes the shoulder pieces would clip through items unless they made some big changes to how capes interact with armor. But the shoulder pieces are one of the things that set Skill Capes apart from other armor and maximizing on this may be a good thing. But if they don't make some changes to allow this to show over your armor then I think removing the shoulder pieces (like on the 120 and all other capes) may be a good move.

I really don't expect anything as amazing as this, but a guy can dream right?

I mean come on, those things look AMAZING!! :shades:
