New video BTS there, looks like only the helm differs between the three Obsidian armour sets, potentially the new Void?

Actually sir, if you look closely, as the set up changes from Melee to Magic, you'll notice that the legs change.

Not the new void, sonny jim.

I think what he's referring to is the replacement to the void (ehuehuehu) that was left by Elite/Regular void's "rebalancing"

Between festive cheer, the stats on that gear and pop on the horizon I've gone rather hyper on excitement.

If you can smith these armor sets at 80 smithing I'll be tickled.

80 smithing for level 80/85 gear.

99 smithing for level 50 gear.

Rework the damn smithing tables guys.

What I'd like to hear opinions on is this: do you think they should have fixed the time-versus-reward aspect with Elite Void first before introducing this armor, after, or what?

We don't even know if it will still have the same void bonus properties.

I'm betting we need tokkul to repair these sets. Like... a lot of goddamn tokkul. So much, it's going to be totally useless because of all the goddamn tokkul we need to collect to use it.

I really hope it isn't that bad. I really want some higher leveled armor other than Nex, and I can't wait another week for Player Owned Ports. But I'm almost certain we're going to need tokkul to repair it. [manipulation]So buy out all those gp to tokkul conversion commodities before it's too late![/manipulation]

Aren't you several years behind on that? Thought they got rid of that long ago.

I'd like them to buff Elite Void to lv 65/70 gear, and give it less defensive capabilites (around tier 60 or 55), and keep obsidian as a defensive alternative to Elite Void.

Anyone think that the fight kiln will be a prereq for this quest?

I believe so, if you notice in the quest the character was wearing a kiln cape, so that makes me think one is needed for this quest??? I hope it is needed! 8-)

I dunno why but this quest scares me..... lots of Combat in this quest, with the new EOC I'm not sure I am up for all the fighting.

As for needing tokkuls to repair the new armor, glad I have plenty seeing as it took me over 15 trys to kill Jad, so yeah I have many banked... ( That's if it is even needed. )

Personally I doubt they'd req the cape; after all that was a big concern for the prior quest and they didn't do it then.

I could see the cape being a requirement to get into the lava oven thing afterwards, or perhaps a requirement to of paid the fire cape to unlock kiln; but can't see kiln cape being an actual req.

I'd like them to continue with the trend of quests having bonus rewards with high requirements.

It looks like dragonbone from Skyrim.

Yes I think it looks ugly too.

What? I don't see it. I think it looks closer to Daedric armour than Dragonbone.

I personally like it with the exception of the helmets which look pretty naff imo.

Shit, they did? I thought all they did was raise onyx's tokkul cost to ridiculous levels, so it would almost never be worth buying chaos runes and trading them in. I thought that's what kept onyx prices from going crazy when it was made to cost 2.7m tokkul.

Well if we're going to need a lot of tokkul to repair the armor, and the only way to get that tokkul is minigames/killing Tzhaar, that's gonna blow hard.

If they're smart, making obsidian armor will take multiple skills in the 80+ range using non-tradeable intermediate items. Sort of what they do for flasks. I would think crafting, smithing, firemaking and mining are four possible skills. Top it off with having to harvest items that take time to get and requiring Tokkul to repair makes for a balanced approached to high level player made armor.

The question then becomes will this armor itself be tradeable. If it takes a lot of time and effort to make and repair, but is useful and tradeable, then Jagex opens up another moneymaker for high level skillers.

By the way, the quest looks beautiful.

There's a penalty applied to the rune crossbow in the first stat screen, implying that the leg armour is not compatible with ranged (i.e. classed)

Not the new void hurrrr

In real life MMO you don't get 99 smithing by making endless bronze daggers.
