If it can't be added to toolbelted pickaxe straight away then Jagex are utter morons.

They already have the darn code to add to it for gilding.

If jagex has let us put gilded d picks on our toolbelts only to add an upgrade version that won't be able to be added to toolbelt then they darn well better let us remove it from the toolbelt via upgrade or they are gonna have serious rage.

You can't let us all bind an item worth several millions in a irrevocable action only to then make add-ons for it we can't do without buying another one a couple of months later, especially if said add ons would not only require buying another one but ALSO getting it guilded from that darn nymph.

I have no idea why you'd even put a dragon pickaxe in your toolbelt in the first place though. It's a low level item that's worth a decent amount of money that you throw away forever when there is a huge possibility of a higher tier version coming out. And it's not like there's any benefit to having your pick in the toolbelt anyway.

Not having to remember it? Lol

That's like paying 12m for the barrows update that put spades on the burial mounds.

I put my d pick on belt because, like many others, I have no intention of ever selling it as its my go to item for any mining needs that crop up in quests or w/e. Yes a better item may come someday but by that point its so long since I bought it IDGAF about what I spent on it and the price will crash out before I can get the new best anyways most likely so I don't view it as a lose to put it on there.

Its a great convenience to have it there, quest needs ore? Tele to mine, job done. Got a chance to do red sandstone? Pop straight over! Fancy a bit of mining? Dive right in! Quest suddenly needs you to mine a path clear? Good job my pick is here!

If you're worried about forgetting a pickaxe for a quest or something, put a rune pick in your toolbelt. If you're really that worried about forgetting it when you train mining, then, sure, pay 12m. But you better be pretty damn forgetful.

They already have the darn code to add to it for gilding.

Not to mention then that people would have to purchase a separate dragon pickaxe, gild it, and convert it to this inferno pickaxe if it won't modify what's already on your toolbelt.

I think I might have to buy a pick just in case...:/

E: I had this thread loaded and up, went to go do stuff for an hour, and came back to respond without reloading the page first. Whoopsie. It seems this point has already been covered. :)

E2:

Isn't that what the toolbelt is for? Speaking of which, will you be able to add these things to toolbelted pickaxes?

Ten bucks says they add that a week after the pick comes out

Well there is a possibility that the update that releases the quest will allow you to add the adze and inferno pickaxe - or at the very least have a one-time chance to remove the pickaxe already on it. This is such an obvious issue that surely they'll figure out something.

It's really, really ugly :(. Can we finally get some gear which does not look like it's purely ceremonial?

But they managed to add 7 spikes to it! What more could you want in a functional tool/weapon?

I quite like the head and the tail IF we assume it is acting as a smelter & could be a hammer (hence the back end) the extra pointy bits are like meh though.

I often feel like Jagex logic is trying to make things look all elegant and nice, which is perfectly ok for fashion cosmetic stuff but in actual functional items we WANT things like the brutal weapon overrides or the newer bol over-rides (ignoring the hammers) where yes they have some style that looks bad-ass but mostly it seems built around the core function of the item.

Yes but style does not have to be separate from realism - player opinion on things like exquisite weapons and such like clearly show that whislt we do want things to look good we also want things that look fit for purpose rather than insanely gilded mess.

It always makes me cry when I show people items like Vesta's gear and leather bucklers, and they say it's ugly. Then they equip their drygore longswords. Look at Dark Souls, they have many fantasy weapons, but they actually look good.

You don't consider exquisite weapons an insanely guilded mess?

Given player opinion on exquisite was they look hideous I thought it was apparent it was an example of what jagex do for 'style' which we dislike aka an insanely guilded mess.

actually, they used some pretty art deco designs on that one, my main complaint is that a bunch of the weapons are way too small to actually have decorations on them

anyway, I'll wait to see if the actual result looks anything at all like the concept design before lobbying criticisms

I'd like to know what "zoom" J intends for us to play at. There are some things that have exquisite details that can only be seen very well at a high resolution and/or zoomed in.

Especially now the camera moves in such an odd arc, when looking horinzontally your camera is miles from your character, when looking vertically, your camera is like a meter away from the character... It isn't handy when you are in small areas like dungeoneering. :s

It's a fantasy game. The entire genre is based on style over realism. I thought that was part of the appeal, personally...

I, for one, feel that a tool is more beautiful for being as suitable as possible for its purpose. That means I want to look at my sword and go: "Damn, I never realized this-and-that feature existed, but now that I see it, it makes sense I'd be able to fight very well with this!"
