He means that a level 100 could'nt attack a level 30, he would have to be in level 70 wildy.

well this scam is one i've seen (and reported) a few times, but when I fell for it I was less expreienced at playing RS, so I wasnt expecting anything.

 

 

 

I fell for the.............errrrrrrrrrrrm............I don't know what to call it.............item value scam? yes that sounds right. it's when the scammer gets a few people, and tells them that s/he has some good item, lets say, 10m. s/he also says that they'll give it to whoever has the greatest value in items and money. but they have to trade said valuables to the scammer. all at the same time. once the scammer has collected everyone's precious stuff, s/he simply teleports away! this was done to me in a time when i thought someone with 1m was 0MG RICH (i've improved, but not much :thumbsup: ). i lost......the following:

now i know that this is pretty much nothing, but to me it was a fortune. i was devastated by the loss, and quit RS for a while. amazingly, the scammer still plays. i know this because i added him on my friends list (for some strange reason :shock: ). when i asked him why he had scammed me and a few others (not in a very nice way :twisted: ), he told me that he gave everything back! now i know this was not true, because i clearly remember him teleporting away, and i lingered around the site (falador's eastern fountain) for a while. oh well, im better off now.

Yep! Happened to me alot! I never gave anything away though, I got reported for telling everyone that it was a scam. =P

The only scam i ever fell for was luring one, I lost 1.8m All i really remember is the first person i was trading saying "Ohh Look out for the PKer!"

When i was a real noob to runescape, i got scammed with that duo scam, one guy was sayiing: buying potato 500k for quest, and i saw a guy yelling: selling potato 100k( which was excatly what i had in bank) and i bought it, hoping i could sell it to the other guy. but then the other guys says : ha scammed noob!

 

I did get pretty pissed off.

when i was a low level level 13 i think i was told if i followed a level 92 with all my items he would teach me to dupe. he said that he would show me if i got all my best items (steel short sword, iron kite and full leather back then along with 350gp) and dropped them. i dropped them and he said to press Alt+f4. me being a low level i didnt know what would happen so i pressed it and my browser closed. when i logged back on my stuff was gone. i found the guy and tried reporting him but he logged before i could type the full name (it had alot of numbers and spaces)

 

 

 

now i am level 78 with like 500k worth of stuff working up enuf money for enuf bones for mm!!!!!

With RWTers and scammers getting desperate for free accounts, I've been getting hit on by several of them. Let me give you an example.

 

 

 

Scammer: You've won the RS lottery for free membership! Just give me your pass and you will be processed immediately. :^o

 

 

 

Me: Isn't this scam a little old?

 

 

 

Scammer: This is no scam, I guarantee it.

 

 

 

Me: Nice try noob (I report them) =D>

 

 

 

Scammer: Oh well, better luck next time (He logs off)

 

 

 

 

 

Another scammer hit me the same day

 

 

 

Scammer: Your account has been frequently reported for macroing. I need your pass in order to check these reports for validity.

 

 

 

Me: Where's your crown mister?

 

 

 

Scammer: Huh?

 

 

 

Me: I guess you need to do the tutorial island again (I report him)

 

 

 

Scammer: Just give me your pass or else you are going to be banned

 

 

 

Me: Too late scammer, I already reported you

 

 

 

Scammer: That's it, you're banned! (he quickly logs off)

 

 

 

Me (talking to myself): I bet it will be the other way around. :twisted:

 

 

 

 

 

While you can't help but pity them, its still funny when they try.

I once nearly got nailed by a "walk in wildy and i kill you" scam.

 

 

 

Luckily for me, i was purchasing my whip. being poor at the time, i had sold all my armour to get said whip. All I was wearing was a sara cape. As i trade, guy appears out of nowhere and ice barrages me. Lucky for me, he misses and I make it back safely to the border.

 

 

 

To this day I believe that sara cape saved my life. :pray:

I was at Varrok world 1, and I saw 2 guys. One said, "selling spinach roll 30k". The other one said, "buying spinach roll 100k". I'd seen this scam before, and was turning away when the mysterious old man pops up and gives me...

 

 

 

...a spinach roll. I went over to the buyer and traded him, and he puts up 100k. He changed it to 10k at the last second, but I pretended not to notice, and the trade was final. The guy immediatly logged out, and I was left there 10k richer. COUNTER-SCAMMED!

 

 

 

When I was a newbie, a guy offered to trim my black armor, and I, being a newbie, accepted. I gave it to him, and he ran away. I followed him and he ran all the way to the wildy, and got pk'd by a mage. I was too low leveled to get hit by the mage, and I ran up and got the loot. I got my armor back, plus a set of steel armor and a mith platebody.

 

 

 

I fell for one of those trust game scams, and have been trying to prevent any more that I see happening.

 

 

 

I also fell for the Zamorak Wine thing once, and lost some thing that I could easily get back, but I lost my Amulet of Accuracy, which I thought was incredibly super-amazing. I begged the guy for it back and told him I wouldn't report him if he gave it back. He ports to Lumby and gives it to me. I then reported him.

i got one about a trust game i went to around lvl 54 or so...

 

 

 

A guy (level 59)with 2 friends stages up a trust game and i join.. he said the winner will recieve 100k, at my level that was unbelievable.

 

he actually had the money, lol. :|

 

 

 

We go upstairs into the varrock sword shop... the game begins

 

(I am wearing rune chainbody and rune legs..)

 

-his friends trade on and it gets to 70k..-

 

i know i can beat this so i trade and giv my rune to him... :?

my brother appears, cast fire blast twice, and the scammer was toast. :lol:

 

I get my rune back and my brother got a mage lvl up :D =D>

I had a dream that someone changed my recoveries, and the next day, someone HAD changed them but I wasn't sure whether it was me or a hacker. Not really a scam lol.

 

 

 

Back when I was level 3 someone tried to trust scam me, even showed the 256k. I didn't know whether or not it was a scam so I didn't report, now i practically hunt down trust scammers.

scammer: ok follow me

 

me: ok

 

-walk to zammy altar at the very edge of the wildy near goblin village-

 

scammer: ok pick up the wine it's worth 1 mill

 

me: ok

 

-gets attcked by all the monks-

 

me: help!!!!

 

scammer - laughing-

 

me: dies :(

 

 

 

only time i ever got scammed :/ btw i was trying to escape but he was closing the door over and over

I remember trying to buy a dragon axe before I started my journey to 99 wc...

 

 

 

Here's what happened:

 

 

 

I'd been on forums all day looking for a dragon axe (3 mil at the time) while slaying in my new full guthans slayer gear. Nobody was selling and I was getting so mad. All of a sudden this guy pms me that he'll sell. I feel so relieved that I can finally start 99 wc.

 

 

 

The guy tells me to meet at edgeville and he is getting a slay assignment at the same time so I think to myself that it's reasonable. Wanting to get it as fast as I get my 3 mil keep all my slay gear on. I head to the edgeville wildy dungeon (didn't know it was wildy at the time) and the guy is standing on the other side of the gate. He tells me to come through so I naturally do. As soon as I get 3 lvls in he logs on his other account and starts ice barraging me! I desperately click towards the gate and even though he has started another barrage my character miraculously starts moving. I get out of the wildy with 6 hp with my heart racing and relieved that I had not lost my fortune.

Trust scam... >_<

 

 

 

I fall 2 time ina trust scam, the first time i lost 80k(it was a lot for me in that time) and the second 400k. Now, i never trust anyone.

I was in Lumbridge and someone came up to me and asked if I wanted to see his house. I said sure and we teleported to Yanille and went into his house. He started showing me around and he said that he remembered a cool glitch with his kitchen table. He said that if you put a staff on the table, it will look like the staff is broken. I was wielding a guthix mjolnir and he wanted me to put it on the table to see it. I knew it was a scam but decided to play along because I had another guthix mjolnir in my bank, so I didn't care if I lost it. So I put it on the table and he kicked me out of his house right when I did it. After that happened, I decided to stay in Yanille in case he tried to do that to someone else. After a few minutes, he follows me in the bank and askes where I got the mjolnirs from. I told him what quest and he asked if I was mad about what he did. I said no and told him that the thing was actually only worth about 5k. He got mad and logged off. The sad part about the whole thing was that the guy was level 101.

I dont think its possible to do this scam anymore but here goes.

 

 

 

I was walking around world 2 and decided to do some merchanting.

 

First i bought an obsidian cape and sold it far away from the obsidian area.

 

I then bought obsidian sets (Obby shield and cape) and sold those untill i could buy a robin hat.

 

I went over to the verac's area and tried trading a robin for full veracs.

 

After some people trading me but then changing their mind, i sold it.

 

I then went andtried getting it sold another place because it was getting late.

 

After standing a long time, i finaly get a trader.

 

I put up the trade and he says he wants a veracs helm.

 

I think, "Im trading you a helm you noob."

 

As i look closer, i see i have 2 skirts instead of a helm.

 

 

 

I know, i should have looked at the second trade screen, it was my fault for not paying attention. -.-

One guy ancients me to under ten hp, then goes for a dds spec.. right as he specs, the girl boots us all, (you should see where this is going :P ), but before I die, my RoL activates and teleports me to the White Knight's castle, where I keel over, then respawn and run over to my stuff. Nothing lost. :D

There was a time when you could kill people in a house dungeon and if you kicked them at just the right time, they would die from either poison or having 0 hp outside the portal, leading to their items beeing dropped for everyone to see.

 

 

 

Luckily that got removed a long time ago. 8-)

lol...it was back when there was no trade limit. i used to sell burnt bones because i thought they cost a lot, so when people traded me they traded rare items and declined and called me a noob. but then this guy comes, and trades me 2k fire runes(20,000 gp) for my burnt bones. he runs away calling me a noob saying, "burnt bones is 200k noob." lol ironic

Yeah... Like I said, it was a loong time ago. Con was so full of glitches.. Like how you used to sometimes spawn on the air or on the roof if you died in an upstairs cb ring. :-#

right ive been playin RS on and off for a while now. I go back to the RS classic days ^^. Ive only been scammed three times,

 

 

 

The first time was ages ago. I had spent days (i was a CB lv) collecting 200 big bones and I was saving up for my brand new rune skimmy to show off. I was hanging around world 1 to try and sell them and some guy came up and offered a rune skimmy, I couldn't believe my look. I put up all the big bones and started clicking accept like made (you might b able 2 see what happened here). I walked away feeling as proud as anything and it took me 20 seconds to realise to gather I had a Steel skimmy. I reported him and got him done tho ^^. Still quite anoying because at the time that was all the money I had.

 

 

 

The second was alot more recent and I still dont know why i fell for it. I chopped 1k of yew logs, which took me forever, and I was trying to sell them in edgevile. I was there for hours possible also scanning forums. One guy came into the bank and said he would buy them but I had to follow him. I saw the scam straight away and filled the rest of my inventory will lobbies donned my full rune, put most of the logs in the bank and also took out a cammy teleport. He took me a bit into the wilderness and I was prepared 2 fight. I saw his mate come out of somewhere the same lv as me with no armour. I could take him. He pulls out a dd++ and poisons me which i wasn't expecting then pulled out a D long and started with the specials. I made some dents in him but he also had food. I was running really low of food and knew i wouldn't win so I tellied out forgetting I was poisoned. I quickly went to the bank and put everything of my inventory into the bank and started to walk off. I was met second later by a big green splodge and died with my full rune on. So now im in fally (i did that quest) and I went to a bank get some cammy telly runes again and I got there too late and found non of my stuff again. I didn't lose alot of money it was more anoyed at myself for falling for the scam but ive learn from my mistakes.

 

 

 

The last scam is by runescape and jagex in a way. I had my first account since RS classic (way way before "Runescape 2") and it had been F2P. One day me and my mates decided that it was time to become members. We all joined up and I must say it was brilliant. All the new quests, skills, new "exotic" places, new people and mini games ect. After a while me and my mates sort of stoped playing leaving our accounts to gather dust for another time. Now ive started up again about a month ago and I wanted my old account back (called Seannydog). I go and realise that my bank is full of members stuff and too small to go F2P again. It is really anoying that after all them years runescape is not letting my play unless i become a member again which I don't want to yet. I say if someone has once been a member let them keep the bank space if they go back to F2P. So now ive had to start again but this time im alot smarter about it and know how to get things done. Called Chalksmith btw.

I say if someone has once been a member let them keep the bank space if they go back to F2P. So now ive had to start again but this time im alot smarter about it and know how to get things done. You could spend $6 for this month, sell your members stuff and for one months' membership you get to keep your account and gold from the stuff to boot.
