Tsar
Looting isn't all that bad, it's actually pretty fun. When someone is slowly dying in a bank due to a random event, people swarm his/her deathpile hoping for something good. About half the times there has been a ton of valuable stuff on the dead player. Last time a guy died in Yanille, I picked up 600k worth of bronze arrows. If they die in a dungeon, there won't be many witnesses, so if I happen to be around, I'll just nab the loot, no questions asked. Many of us think that if you saw the dying persons name and got the loot, you should contact him/her and give the stuff back... but that seems a little over the edge, considering there's a strong chance you didn't know him/her personally. Let's say if you found a 100$ bill on the sidewalk, you wouldn't go around asking at people "Is this yours?", you'd keep it without thinking much. Why would it be different with virtual money and items just lying on the ground. Finders keepers.
Cryptogram
Someone dies and drops their stuff. So whether I give it back or not depends on a couple of factors. If I was speaking to them before it happened and we were getting on okay, they have their stuff back. If they drop a load of crap, they can have their stuff back. If they were not talking to me (mutual silence) they don't get their stuff back unless they ask nicely, and if it's worth over 500k, they can forget it. However, deliberately getting someone owned, whether by luring, door-closing or any other method of preventing someone's escape other than wildy fighting is a crappy thing to do and should be reportable imho. britrockdude
I agree with the "looting is okay, helping them to die is not" crowd. Trapping people and so on is cruel and wrong to be honest, and anyone doing that is quite a lowly life form. Most people play to have fun, and that takes away the fun for certain. I have no problem if something gets killed normally looting though. It's just gonna disappear anyway. If I see the people again, I might give it back, depending on how nice they are about it. If they say "give me back my items" I'd say no right out. I also agree that it's good to help people. I once was in the tz-haar caves and somebody was getting low on health, I helped (hoping to get the items, none of which came), and the guy was really thankful, giving me a mage short as thanks. It CAN pay to be nice, thats for sure Main Goal; To have all skills 50+ My avatar is: The Shins- Oh Inverted World
Mordendravid
0ne time i was hallying black demons (back when i was level 88) and some mage started dissing my stats and talking trash about me. I minded my own business, but he just kept talking trash. I used drag b spec to get higher strength, but it took a while that by the time i got to attack the black demon again, the mage had taken over for me. He laughed and snickered as i was there, shocked, wondering what i had ever done to him. And then karma kicked in. Just as he finished typing he attempted to go back to the safe spot. He was off by 1 square, and he went away from keyboard, as he wasn't hitting back or running from the black demon. So anyways he's getting hit 16's and stuff, and 1 more hit he was going to die. He comes back, as he finally moves to the safe spot. But, the last blow got him. Down he went.. I took most of his runes and robes, no sympathy whatsoever for him. His friend was beside him, he didn't notice. I told him that that is what happens when you diss me and my stats, it comes back to haunt =D now if the mage hadn't been so uptight about me just being there, I would have happily given his stuff back. I have no sympathy for people who laugh, snicker and diss people, to die, and then expect their belongings back. Was sharing this really worth bumping a year old topic? nicrune007
Looting is fine as long as you don't try to get someone to die. agree with that depending on the loot i may return some items only  Hey Nicrune007 , Whats Your Username? 99 Ranged on 2/6/07 99 Hit Points on 9/5/08 99 Defense on 26/4/08 99 Attack on 14/2/09 99 Strength on 25/2/09 99 Slayer on 13/9/09\:D/
berbatovsky
I was at barbarian bar training my pure (Usually world 109, come see me!) when I saw a level 28 in full iron getting piled by barbarians. These two lvel 30-or so pures kept closing the door so he couldn't escape. Now, I believe evrybody should think that's really low. I helped him kill off the barbarians. It's really sad what people will do for a few hundred gp. So yeah, what's your opinion on this? People deliberately facilitating the death of someone is this way is horrible and i will always try and avert that persons death, however if someone just plain dies because of lag or not paying attention theres not much you can do other than take their stuff and if you are a saint pm them (if you had time to get their name) and hand it all back. kamikaze914
ah, this topic reminds me of when i went to try and kill damis from DT i was near the chamber, when i saw a red-barred person running towards me and say help. a second later, they died and dropped about 50k's stuff. I picked the expensive parts up, added her, and told her to go camelot. Gave her stuff back, and she gave me 2 prayer potions. On topic, looting the dead is ok (only help the girl above cause it could of happened to me), causing them to die+loot is bad.

Lordjake
The extent of my looting is when I sometimes alch in low level wild, and go around picking up addy arrows or lobsters left over from dead pkers. Granted, if I'm training somewhere and see a pile that was just left by someone dying, I'll obviously go around and pick it up. ... and yeah this topic was like a year old when it was bumped

Aresgodowar
My opinion is slightly split on the subject... If someone dies at a place they probably shouldn't be... Yeah I would take the stuff and keep it. Call me greedy... but I feel if someone (a low level mind you) is using a crummy Halberd on a Black Demon... chances are they know they shouldn't be there to begin with. Same rule applies if someone is being a pest, stealing kills, talking trash, and so on. Now... the part I don't agree with is people coming to these forums bragging about it. And I don't agree with people literally trying to get someone to die. If they die out of their own stupidity... thats a different story. If they die with help... thats weak. Thats my take. Others will babble on about honor and karma. I go on common sense. And as long as you don't rub the loot in the person's face... karma shouldn't even apply (for those of you probably chomping at the bit to quote me there). fear my d hally of doom!!! gamblingfool
Eh, I usually don't get enough time to notice if the person that died is being a jerk. Most of the time I don't remember their name either. If they came back and asked nicely for what they lost, no big deal. Usually I see "omfgzzzz can i plz hav my stuf bak". I give them a second chance to redeem the fact they deserve it, and if they say the exact same or "noob just giv me my stuf," then sorry. You lost. Ha, I also just noticed how old this was. :? Stewie_Griffen
I've looted two death piles. One was at Barrows and I got a spade and bones. The other one as at Ankou. There was a noob there. The noob was wearing some of the Waterbirth Armor, eating sharks, and being an idiot to me and my friend. So, when another person came in, I suggested we have a vote to vote someone out. Halfway through the vote...the noob dies. I got their Skeletal Top, their Glory, and all the blood runes they had gotten as drops. I missed the Rockshell Legs and Rune Boots though, but they were being a noob so that's their payment for it.
NickCini
If someone dies near me, I try to take as much stuff as I can. I'm not going to go looking for them, but if they contact me or come back to where they died and ask for their stuff back, I'll give most of it back, keeping what I like to call a "death tax" for myself - usually some of their cash or runes, or a piece of their armor. I'll usually stand around where they died for a few minutes and wait for them to show up. No taxation without representation. I pm the person. As i am a big believer of private chat on if they have to friends i'll sell it or something. If they are not, i'll pm them and they come to me or something. In the event of a single item that was 10M plus. I can not honestly say i would 100% give back. I would maybe like to think i would but...you never know. ********* to the guy who said he alched in low level wild. \ walking into the wild with lots of money game \ And if you do all you can, that's all you can ever do. - Warren Rudman But men are men; the best sometimes forget. - William Shakespeare

Dalcyte
Looting people is fun and rewarding. A guy died at the tzhaar caves and he dropped a Red mask, which i sold for 18m (dunno why the guy bought it for 18 m :? ) it's also immoral and mean. To take stuff that someone died with (when it probably isn't their fault via lag or something) and you know who did it..that's just mean and immoral. The worst is what the example was, closing doors or such so people can't leave.. Click for mah Blog!- I'm not sure why you would though because i never update it Achieved 99 Thieving 3/10/07-992nd to it

aznmidget448
I usually try to give things back to people who die. Once, someone was coming out of edgeville underground wildy (trying to get orbs charged or at least looking for them) and died with a couple hundred cosmics and earths. I quickly grabbed these and a bunch of orbs (I was killing skeles for slayer so I had extra space). Well, he ended up pming me and I gave the stuff back. Now we're prety good friends. (this also happened recently... same place same reason but I was going to Vannaka this time :P ) In my opinion, using the door to try and kill any level is wrong. Even if they will die seconds later, it is wrong to purposely kill someone when they can easily escape. I do understand that if someone dies, then you can feel free to loot their stuff, but I hope no one here tries to kill someone else out of wildy, dueling arena, and castle wars. foulshot
here is my opinion..... first- if the player dies for being stuipid (aka not wearing anti d sheild, or hallying dragon in open) then yes i would take + keep the stuff second- if its in the wildy cause the runnign or something else, or get caught behide web, well who wouldnt kill them third- if they are your friend, ALWAYS GIVE THE STUFF BACK, it can be rewarding! (one time my friend died, f2p world, i got his rune back gave to him, he was soo gratefull he gave me a rune scimmy and 100k!) this was when i was like lvl 50 or so fourth- newb crazy people, who are oppsesed with rs, have fun with this and taunt them with their items, u'll get a kcik outta it \ fifth- if they die in an unfair way, such as newbs lookign them out or something on these lines, anything i get i give back, well if its under 200k :wall: these are the rulz i folo and these have always proved me to work out! :XD: =D>

KingKnight1
I was in the slayer caves, and I saw a level 33 or so helping a level 86 out of the caves (She had no idea where to go, and they were at the hole that leads to the Dorgeshuun tunnels then to the Lumbridge cellar). I decided to follow, and pretend I didn't know the way neither. So me and the 86 were following the guy, and he even took a couple head-grabbings from the wall-beasts for us. Deeper into the cave, near the rope, their candles began to explode, and they kept relighting them. I had a bullseye lantern, and they died helplessly. I snatched their stuff and fled the scene. I got rune boots, obby cape, strength amulet, red vambraces, rune platelegs and other stuff.
