Future Of PoH - Discussion

Intro

Player owned houses, in my opinion, looks quite dim. The skill itself requires money to level, and has only small rewards (Best prayer xp, teleport areas etc). It may be a place to show off your wealth, but in the end it's not that hot.

There is no real benefit for being inside your house, or having people there. The games are somewhat lame, and non beneficial. In the end, it seems the cash you spend hardly seems worth it for such limited rewards.

For these reasons, PoH is practically doomed, unless Jagex make some serious changes. In this post I'll state what needs to be done to spark interest and make your house seem more like a house, and various ways of acomplishing this.

What Makes A House A House?

1. A place to put your things in

2. A place to sleep

3. A place to throw parties

4. A place to invite friends to

5. A place to live

6. A safe Area

That's a typical house, and PoH at the moment doesn't really do these things. PoH's are treated more like just any other location to benefit from the limited things it offers such as prayer xp and teleport rooms. This needs to be fixed.

What I want are ideas to make your house behave much more like a house.

---------

We need things that are going to bring you to your house before logging out (resting bonus?)

A reason to high alch in your house instead of some random location

Farming in your garden? Gives you a reason to visit occasionally

Etc etc. Anything that you can think of which would make you visit your house more, and visit other peoples aswell. Because currently, houses don't seem much like we expected them to be.

So any ideas you can think of that makes a house more like a house, I'd love to hear it. Discuss your ideas to help save PoH.

a closet to store random event clothing, and something to store quest items. something that will give us bank space.

when I first build my clothes wardrobe thing, I honestly thought 'finally, bank space'.

guess I was wrong.

medium pond(trout-salmon)

seawater large pond (lobs, swordfishs and sharks)

wow i like that idea.

anvil and furnace.

possibly ores in your dungeon, cmon its under ground...

yea i like that they are doing that now, i have a set of mime i dont want to drop because i need 1 more emote(just got 2 mimes in the last week) and i used to have zombie clothes but after i got the emoted i dropped them, and i might actually get those back now. and maybe the frog token stuff even tho its dumb.

omg or an armor stand in your house that actually lets you put up a set of armor and a weapon... all the stuff can be dismounted to be worn emediately. hm, maybe their could be a benefit to mouting it in your house for a while...slight reduction of cost to repair barrows armor, the combined with the repair armor stand.

I really hope they will let u build one patch (only one) of each type - hop/tree/bush and such for farming. (if you can build more then one it just FR33 EXP PL0Z).

Get exp for killing monsters in dungeon.

Make the costume room look good and not like big room with alot of wardrobes. Make it more like cw armor stands.

I don't think they should add ores/furnace/anvil and such. because adding things like those will make smithing/crafting/mining way 2 easy and it is unfair.

They should do second game room with games from the game room like checkers/4 in row and you can put only one of the second room and choose only 1 game.

also the best thing I can think of is making "trade/shop room". you put the items u want to sell in it and choose the price for them and everyone that come to the house can just go to it and buy the items. the money will stock in a chest that only can u open and take the money from.

theres only 1 problem with the mining wc and fishing in ur poh it makes it too easy. the fishing one would be ok casue you would have to buy the fish to put in it, let them make more ext, wc is ok casue u can grow the tress. mining come on, it would make it too easy. But omg it could maybe remove the macroers casue its alot easy to do it in ur poh with no one around then some where populated. OMG yay

I believe they are making a magical wardrobe which you can store clothes in and stuff like that.

I agree, maybe be able to wc your garden trees, farm, fishing, take things out fo your house would also be a next addition.

Either make cabinets...or let us keep food in our larders....i want to cook at home for a change.

i thought that to, a combination of all those would be a little much, then i was like dude ive spent alot of time and $ on my house...

serious, ores i could see happening, especially if you can put rune ore in your house for like, i dunno, 1mil... easily make your $ back and world hopping wouldnt matter and then its still a good drain and a good supply to the economy.

after i think about it, furnance and anvil are dumb if you do the same thing for free @ varrock and port, whatever..ghost city.

There was a very good idea presented before on sleeping in beds in your PoH. Bascially, when you sleep in your bed, you see flashes of images from all the quests you've done. It's like you're dreaming up memories. I personally think that would be an awesome improvement to the PoH. Note, that I did not create this idea. The name of the author eludes me at the moment, and if you know it, please feel free to post it.

I'm just gonna go through the list of rooms I have and ideas that I think we could use for each.

Parlour

-Chairs: Faster restoration of Energy and stats

-Bookcase: Leave a notebook for you to write little memos to yourself

Kitchen

-Fish Larder: Store raw or cooked fish you own in it

Dining Room

-Dining Table: Food eaten while sitting at the table increases how much it heals (based on table)

Study

-Globe: When you build a high level globe, you can use itl ike a "Scrying Pool" to see in certain pre-determined areas

Chapel

-Blessing Items: Certain clothing items, which you could sew in a new room, could be blessed on different altars to give prayer bonuses

Bedroom

-Sleeping in Bed: Ability to sleep in bed before logging off, coming back a few minutes later will have energy at max and all stats reset; Agility will be raised by 5 temporarily when you awake

Workshop

-Armor Reinforcement: Ability to take certain metals to reinforce other armor (EX: Rune Armor (B) indicating Rune Armor reinforced with Bronze), UNTRADABLE

Combat Room

-Tournament Support: self-explanitory

That's all I got...

now thats a good idea, I dont understand why we shouldnt be able to do all of our cooking at home. There should also be an anvil in the workshop to do the smithing, and maybe tanning our own hides too? as well as a pottery wheel and a spinning wheel. Lastly, we should be able to make a farming patch in our gardens.

Farming patches I like, but only for a select few (perhaps specialized) crops. Perhaps cut off another Dramen Branch in Entrana Dungeon to plant your very own Dramen Tree. You would be able to get a 1-use Dramen Staff for fairy ring access straight into the Lost city (after that you have to bank to get your permanent one)

I'd also like to see an additional tool store level, with bronze hatchets and bronze pickaxes. That way you can go outside and cut a few logs to fuel your fireplaces with. Or better, I'd exit my house through Falador portal, run west towards Taverly mine (over the wall), mine some Iron rocks, back to Falador to smelt, and on my way back I'd hammer them into knives or darts or arrowheads at Doric's place.

If only there was but 1 chicken in Taverly. (WE NEED MORE CHICKENS :P)

And what about an Advanced Larder (I hear the white of the Marble keeps things nice and cool). It'd have all the Gnomic Ingredients (food and drink ofcourse) and for 1000 pieces of eight (pesos) you could get a shot of Harmless Rum (the one that teleports you to the minigame, if you have done the appropriate quest).

If this is too much then how about just the supplies for Gnome Drinks in a Liquor Cabinet.

Or what about Additional options for Portals?

-Ghorrock (Ancient version to Ice Plateu, quick access to Obelisk teleports)

-Moon Clan

-Port Khazard (quick access to the Charter system, and Trawler)

Only with the approrpiate quests can you access these.

How about a Mounted Lyre? Works the same as the Mounted Glory, but you'd have to have a Lyre that is charged with FOUR charges (Manta Ray is required here). This would bring more people out to the Trawler, reviving yet another minigame.

As for the Study.

Why not allow us to make Lunar Lecterns (Demon and Eagle, for teleports and the other spells) or Ancient Lecterns (just the teleport spells).

The Questhall should show completion of Recipe For Disaster as well (this shows completion of Desert Treasure, Legends, and Monkey Madness all at once).

You should also be able to mount a stuffed Monkfish. (showing fish accomplishment as well as completion of Swan Song.

first off the have to make it 20 rooms per floor instead of 20 rooms total, they cant expect you to make a nice house and a nice dungeon, with all teh options they give with such a limited number.

another thing i think would be neat is being able to put your rares on display, like hanging up phats or santas on a rack or in a glass container for people to see, that way I can show them off without having to wear them and being afraid to die

I would personally like to see the skill room expanded some more.

For Example:

Crafting - People can put up their dragon hide sets, similar to smithing.

Fletching - Mount bows on the wall.

Herblore - You could have a case with low, medium and high herbs in, depending on which ones you can id.

Firemaking - A special fireplace, with the highest log you can burn in there burning.

These are just a few of my ideas.

But I agree with new updates, I only seem to use my house for the portals and the guilded altar.

Quote from Jagex:

Also in October, Player-Owned Houses will get their first update since launch, with the all new costume room! Build magic wardrobes and treasure chests, and free up some space in the bank! Players will be able to store all their favourite random event costumes, special treasure trail outfits and even some of the odd little toys they've picked up on your travels over the years. More information will follow later this month.
