Saying anything, and I mean anything, before 'Scape' except 'Rune', would earn you an instant mute. (Friends gotten perm banned for saying 'SoberScape' before, other friends getting 10 day mutes from saying 'High level Meleescape', etc)

December 23, 201015 yr I never got banned in runescape yet, but I remember once I was bored and tried Club Penguin (I was only 8 then) , and I got banned for logging on too many times (four times). I was annoyed. At least Jagex did not make this a ban sentence.

Ever since the profanity filter update there literally is NO reason one should be reported for offensive language anymore. What happened to freedom of speech? Or are the wannabe player moderators too stubborn to realize that? (Just to clarify, I have never been muted before, as I spend the majority of my time chatting in clan chats or dung.) I responded saying "Im mod peter, please stop", and got muted.I basically reported myself. :s You could always appeal that you know. Just quote the date of the offense, and tell them that someone was really called "Im Mod Peter". It could easily be read by someone else as Mod impersonation, which is what got you muted. To Sonikku: The freedom of speech does not shield you from the consequences of intentional cyberbullying/harrassment. Although the censor can be lifted (optionally), it doesn't mean that nothing would offend others anymore. It is merely JaGex's response to a maturing community, which, inevitably, always has a select few who are incapable of being mature. I don't think every person who reports people are 'wanna-be' mods. Some just find it fun to get others muted, with no intention of receiving modship (It's also a terrible way to gain modship, as it's awarded to players who can accurately identify rule breakers) I have been muted well over 20 times, and I'd say about half of them I would have deserved, and the other half I appealed successfully. My advice would be: Just be wary of what you're saying. If you think what you're saying could be taken out of context, or it's potentially offensive/discriminating, don't say it. Perhaps rephrase what you're going to say. A good portion of the so called 'undeserved' mutes on here are actually deserved. I don't see why so many people frown upon reporting other players. It keeps the community safe and more user friendly. What's exactly wrong with that I don't know. On Topic: I haven't been muted for at least a year. I think I could dig something up... I'll edit this post later

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT PULLING THE "FREEDOM OF SPEECH" CARD. Freedom of speech prevents the government from stopping you from saying whatever you want. It has no affect on what Jagex can do in THEIR game. If you want to voice your opinion, start your own website, go out on the street carrying a sign, buy ad-space, do whatever. But in Jagex's game, they can prevent you from saying whatever they don't want you to say. And there's not a single thing you can do about it, because it's not your game.
June 21, 201115 yr I was in a j-mod cc chatting with people and I suddenly couldn't talk. I was like wtf? I thought it might be lagg, so I checked my other acc. Perfectly fine. Then, I go back on my main and it says i've been muted for 2 days. I then tried to go on forums, but i'm forum banned for some reason. I'VE BEEN MUTED AND FORUM BANNED FOR NO REASON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *End Rage*
