Rares prices.... (27,000+ views)
People might start buying again soon seeing as, even with the update, summoning is still expensive and timeconsuming.

16 January 2008 - Summoning balancing
Hmm... Yeees... Makes since... It seems as though they may want to make players happy after January 3rd... Although this STILL ignores the lack of logic involved in the way this skill is trained...

Summoning yes, but not like this.
That's 1 thing! I hope that this thread helped to convince Jagex :D. But it's still very costley, no matter what they say about earning it back. Altough I still think they're a bit naive about gaining the costs back. And they DO control EVERY aspect of the game... They could make the high drops, for the test accounts, the absolute average, or the best it can be for a player...

Summoning yes, but not like this.
Jad directs its attention toward the dragon and ko's it then moves back to you :roll: I don't think you can use familiars on Tok-Jad or in Barrows...

16 January 2008 - Summoning balancing
Wow, I actually think you've said that 3 or 4 times lately, maybe I'm mistaken, but nice post none the less. You still don't get exp for actually using the pouches (at least, I don't think that you do). The only way to actually gain a non-negligible amount of experience is by making pouches, and that hasn't changed. This is an improvement, but I personally would have preferred keeping the shard price, but allowing you to get a significant amount of exp (even if only 1 exp per damage point) for the damage that your familiar deals. Meh. Actually I think you get experience from each scroll special that you do while the creature is summoned. You can train with some of them if you just use them by your side for long enough. How? The scroll special gives you a FRACTION of an experience point. Experience gained for fighting them has, so far, seemed to equal that of HP exp for a random event. Also, the refresh argument doesn't work very well... Why? What skiller is going to leave his post for 15+ minutes just to refresh his summoning points? And what use have the Granite Crab and Rock Lobster for fisherpersons? Why not just cook up a huge mess of fish/admiral pies?

training summoning cheaply.
I know I won't. Since, for all intensive purposes, this skill appears to be a storm drain for gp, tortoise summonings probably have some hidden catch...

Gp shortage coming?
Less gold = 1gp is worth more = higher prices. Less gold = more deamnd (aat the same price) = higher prices And Primadog, it costs 200m for the shards alone, so idk how it can cost 44m for 1-99.[/i] But if players have less gp available to them, they will not be physically possible of paying higher prices. Therefore the demand will drop until the supply comes down to meet the equilibrium price that buyers can (and want to) afford. Ultimately, this is a skill that can be raised a heck of a lot of ways (why not just buy everyone's pouches on GE and summon them all???). Picking generic gp values is not really beneficial. It CAN cost 250M but it CAN cost 50M, depending on how you train it, how fast you want to train it, and how much effort you want to go to to get charms and secondaries. Evidence is now needed as to how people are training it and the speed.xp/gp ratio before a close to absolute opinion can be developed. I expect the spirit shard price to drop - possibly in half - sometime this year. Not sure when, but definitely this year, because I'm pretty sure it's more expensive than they really wanted it to be. Hmm... So Jagex's initial price for spirit shards were wrong? Ahh!!! Everyone panic!!! It's now time to throw your hands in the air, run frantically in circles, and make high pitched screaming noises until you fall unconcious from lack of oxygen!!! Since when has Jagex been wrong!?!... Seriously. I mean it. Jagex probably WON'T lower the cost. Why? Cause they seem to really want to bleed our economy. And, as December 10 and January 3 have taught us, they don't back down when they really don't like something.

Guide to the Revenants! (Updates! February 2nd, 2008)
On the new higher leveled monsters: Can they summon creatures to aid themselves, or are their new levels just from extra beefy "old" combat skills? Are they on F2P? If so, why? Can we fight THEM more easily with summoned creatures? Or are the creatures just cannon fodder?

Why I will love summoning
Yup! Just like runecrafting! :

Revs,summoning
Considering when you use Protect from Mage they hit a 0 on you like any other NPC but then switch to other prayers, it seems like they won't be able to summon familiars/pets (possibly). What about Grayzag(or whatever)? He summons imps while you fight him. And Malignus summons noncombat creatures around his general area...

training summoning cheaply.
But tortoise shells are kinda uncommon...

Summoning too hard to level?
Agreed. The more player involvement a skill takes, the more fun it becomes. And looking at the rewards, the blood, sweat, and tears will be worth it. 10 spaces sounds good now, but when you get there, and realize you spent 200 mil, it won't seem so satisfying.

Summoning too hard to level?
Summoning doesn't offer much for the casual player. You can't make a profit (at least now), it's rather tedious, and it's time consuming.

Gp shortage coming?
Correct. for your information, a gp shortage will raise the price of rares, and construction prices were not controlled by the grand exchange. Construction sure did take out money, but alching put the money back in. Now no one alchs, so there is nothing to balance the money coming out of the economy Think through your noob reply next time, its not about the cost of summoning, but the effects of money coming out from summoning and none coming in from other sources. You fool That makes sense. With set prices ala GE, less gold makes it harder to buy the high priced goods. Long lines for bread anyone?

~~~How will/has the 138 CB cap affect/ed the game?~~~ =~)
Guess what? The middle crater in bounty hunter is now 67-114. Oh Joy!
15 January 2008 - Summoning!
Judging by the Rants forum on ROSF, quite a few players are disgruntled about summoning. And, remember, some members stuck around after the Dec. 10 updates JUST for summoning.
15 January 2008 - Summoning!
How?
Summoning yes, but not like this.
But that was Runecrafting. This... is... SUMMONING!!! Summoning, as far as I can see, has NO profit margin. All you do is lose your lovely gold.
More Grand Excrement Lies
Monkeys banging on a calculator could do a better job of choosing prices. :roll: A thousand monkeys banging on a thousand calculators for a thousand years will eventually create the figures used for the world economy. The GE? 1 monkey, 1 calculator, 10 minutes.
Summoning too hard to level?
You been smoking spirit weed boy? This skill, methinks, is going to be considered worse than farming or hunter. Why? Farming has some decent rewards (spirit tree) and can be used for profit (herbs) and can be done while doing a TOTALLY different skill. Hunter may not have a lot of worthwhile rewards (excluding spotty/ier cape, chinchompas, and wieldable harpoons) but is easy to level and, dare I say?, even FUN to train. Summoning combines the timeconsumption of farming with the lack of rewards of hunter, with a double helping of the expense of construction.
Changes coming to the Grand Exchange
Bwhahahaha! Guess what? They lied! New items already HAVE set prices; look at spirit weed and summoning potions for a couple examples. You might want to check out pouches too... Bwhahahaha!
Summoning yes, but not like this.
Summoning IS a non buyable, wich costs 210 million gp, to get like what, 5k xp an hour. Once you get 99 summoning after 2 months of extreme nolifing 24/7 ( If you are still alive ) , you get an awesome ability to summon a monster wich hits... With the joy of having to collect our own charms I think it will take longer than 2 months. I'll take a stab and say we need 50,000 charms minimum for level 99? 50,000 monsters to kill, and that's also assuming they drop the correct charm. This is going to be one heck of a challenging skill to raise, I hope Jagex makes it possible to make these charms in a future quest or something because at the moment the thought of it makes me shudder. Atleast it gives more incentive to do slayer, you can probably pick up about 70 or so charms on a good trip along with combat and slayer experience. It wouldn't be so hard to make charms a craftable item... you could then enchant the basic gold charm with the magic skill...
Summoning too hard to level?
I think it is the charms...
