Noobs say the funniest things!
:XD: hahhahaah :XD: now that's just funny, his main isnt a monitor, without the monitor he couldnt even play on his mederator. lmbo! You are mistaken, good sir, for he is quite right; his main is, in fact, a moniter lizard such as may be found in Africa or the Komodo islands.

A Lack of Communication, A Lack of Respect
It would be productive. I get tired of your blatant hypocrisy. I swear... You flip-flop your positions more than anyone I know. On one-hand you applaud an update even though it blatantly harms a group of people, often times hailing it as 'needed', but on the other hand, when you're in the group that's negatively affected by a specific update, then you'll 'conveniently' switch your argument to whatever stance suits you. Spare me the needless insults =; Why post an article if the only thing you're looking for is positive feedback/criticism? Um... SHOULDN'T he be looking for positive feedback/criticism? That stuff is used to improve writing; NEGATIVE feedback/criticism is in the nature of "lol u r sO st00pid! LOL!!!"

Days of infamy: the worst is yet to come
Excuse me, good sirrah, but I despise these updates as well and, last time I checked, I have never been blackmarked or muted in my 2 1/2 years of playing. I have tried to be kind, courteous, and polite in all of my dealings. So why are you lumping all who don't like these updates into the same category as the rule breakers?

Summoning being used to counter the loss of bots?
You ever seen a Duck Billed Platypus or a Beaver at work in the wild?

A Lack of Communication, A Lack of Respect
But Jagex announced this update three weeks ago. Plus, they "say" these updates have been in the works for a year or so but look at how out of touch Jagex is with its own players.

Unbalanced Trade Removal / Dealing with Scabaras
Well how can we split the earnings if we can only trade up to 30k? the loot share thing will come some time who knows when exactly, lets hope next week. until then perhaps stocking up on your monster hunting supplies is a wise idea. You should read my above post, But I shouldnt have to wait to resume monster hunting because of poor implantation by Jagex. As for my supplies, I have enough to last me for a year or more, So I don't need to stock up at all, Most higher level players dont, I refuse to sell my Super sets, Sara brews and antifires for the insulting GE prices. And I don't think the tweaks are coming out this month; all we're getting are a couple of quests and Summoning.

A Lack of Communication, A Lack of Respect
The question was mostly rhetorical. It was asked to make a point, not because I don't know the answer. But bear in mind that companies that make a habit of considering themselves far more important than their customers often regret it down the road. I was really hoping Jagex was smart enough to avoid those historical pitfalls. Anybody remember Napoleon's attempt to conquer Russia? How about Hitler's attempt the next century?

Summoning is F2P too (confirmed?)
I saw another picture of a mod stating it would be F2P. The Mod was Mod Piers.

Summoning is F2P too (confirmed?)
Or the mod could be lying for fun! After all, there is nothing more entertaining then raising people's hopes and dashing them a week later!

Trading update fault discussion
Sorry, but the actual answer is "zero". You don't write code for each item. It's just entries in a database. The number could be changed in a matter of seconds. Jagex has had over a MONTH of people trying to tell them about bogus prices. AND they're a multimillion dollar/pound company and SHOULD have a team of programmers who know what they're doing.

Trading update fault discussion
Or maybe Jagex has been lying through their teeth about how long they've been working on these updates.

Rune Mining/Smithing No Longer Profitable?
I used to think Smithing was a golden skill- once you could smith rune you could make gold like nothing else.
-
Why are you so afraid of revenants?
Fighting them has to be worthless. Think about it. If they had great drops, well-prepared people would be fighting them all the time, thereby preventing them from attacking rune miners and treasure trail hunters, and thus destroying the goal of making the wilderness dangerous. Hmm... but lvl three miners didn't have to worry about PKers; their level may have been too low for an attack. The revenants don't bother with your level.

New Specials?
The few times I've been in PC people use it on the portals all the time, in case they try and run away :-/ Weren't they smart enough to use a Dds spec? Apparently not... But this thread is also meant to talk about other items that are now useless thanks to the updates. Torags and the Whip were the only two I could think of at the time...
-
New Specials?
Ya. I've been thinking that a lot of stuff, due to recent updates, is going to become useless and spend some hard time in the GE.

Astral Runecrafting Profitable?
The supply is low now, and it will always be low for as long as Lunar Diplomacy remains to have very high requirements to complete. But, if Humidify becomes popular, the demand will rise, and the price will rise. Low effort + High Value Products = Big profits. You just got to get over the first hurdle of finishing Lunar Diplomacy. The only problem is that in order to have a need for Astral Runes (ie use Lunar Magic), you would most likely be able to craft the Runes for yourself. After all, not many people who have 61 crafting, 49 FM, 65 Magic, 60 Mining, and 55 WC would not have 40 RC, unless you despise RCing, but then you would be a minority. I guess that it reduces the demand a bit, but Astral R'Crafting is still much more profitable than Nature R'Crafting. But, because of the high requirements, the demand is still low.

New Specials?
With the loss of the old style wilderness, what will happen to some rather potent weaponry? Namely, Torags and the Abbysal Whip. Why do I ask about these weapons specifically? Well, both of their effects have to do with reducing run energy. Now, monsters don't run only players do. Sure you can still use them to a certain extent in C wars, but bounty hunter's small area makes the special abilities practically useless. The Abbysal Whip won't suffer, but Torag's will. So maybe Jagex might consider changing the effects of those pieces of equipment? The point of this topic is to also discuss the placement of other items (primarily items used for PK'ing) in the new world order.

Summoning F2P?
The problem is that it would make members chars weaker in f2p than f2p chars if it is purely p2p yet affects combat. I hope Jagex has taken this into consideration. I agree, Jagex won't want to punish ex-members. Qeltar's solution is possible, but i see lots of glitches and confusion. Completely agree. summoning would definitely disadvantage members in f2p. I would very much like summoning to be part f2p even though im a member. Hopefully they have already taken this into account. I'll laugh a lot if they haven't after taking one whole year to make this skill. You just never know with Jagex, they always have glitches and obvious oversights (ge with no bank pin, pohs with no bank pin) yet they say they test before they update. :-w Anyone remember the day o doom courtesy of Construction? Jagex is REALLY into stringent testing.

2 weeks after.....
I barely ever PKed, staked or merchanted, but these updates made me quit. I stil dwell in these forums though. The staking update hit me worst though, because then i knew i could never be more than an average joe, earning average wages. The only way i could ever get better than anyoe else would be to play for hours and hours a day, but never actually surpass many people still. All oppurtunities to go from rich to poor or poor to rich are gone. I wil never have a chance of being anywhere near the best, so i quit. THe community is 'clogged', nobody can become (relatively) better than anyone else. Tis not good. I don't pay to be the same as everyone else, i pay to be better. I quit and dwell in the forums as well! Though the updates didn't affect me, it made me think: whose next? Plus, now it's just a massive grind.

Summoning F2P?
Since the revenants keep pace with max player level, AND Jagex has given them all the bells and whistles of P2P on F2P, the Wildy is going to take on a whole new level of danger come January.

The GOOD from the updates
...and THAT opinion, class, is what Freud called the Id, the desire to furhter ones self NOW, not looking toward the future or what may happen from coices Having a goal-oriented approach is fine, but at no point should a GAME feel like WORK. Runescape does, sometimes, and this update is pushing it more in that direction by encouraging more skilling. Agreed. A Game should never feel like Work... unless it is your job to play said game... but then it's not a game; it's work.

Now that Playerkilling is "out of the picture"
But with the 12 lvl boost to our levels, the monsters will probably be able to be up to lvl 138...

I never realized how charitable I was
Assist system is useless if your friend doesn't need it. Giving advice is useless if your friend doesn't need it. I'm already friendly toward a person who is my friend. Then help others? The game isn't only you and your friend. Sure I understand if you want to help your friend, but it seems like he doesn't need help if he doesn't need any advice or skill help. Point is that financial help or gifts are the best way to help a friend more than anything else. And no, starting January, I can't help others in the way that I've wanted to from the beginning, which is to give them sets of rune for just being nice people. People rarely need my assistance (or can use it due to lacking the materials) or listen to my advice. Fat lot of good those things do next to giving them what they need to do things. Plus, on the advice front, there's a whole bloody knowledge base if the helpee would take two seconds to click on the link.
