January 2, 200818 yr Think about it. I know summoning has been in development for over a year now, but I think it may have some link to bots. I'm mainly thinking of this, because when nearly all of runescape's bots were vanquished, prices for things such as logs, fish and flax went up. Now, if you can summon a creature that can help you fish or cut logs in the game, surely that will mean more supply of fish and logs come into the game, and therefore prices decrease. I'm thinking jagex wanted to do this, because if yew logs are 450 ea, it becomes harder to buy them in loads as they are more expensive, and more people are put of by the price. Discuss. January 2, 200818 yr I guess it makes sense. I would like a little pet to help me with my runecrafting, if there's one. But again, then I'd have to train summoning, and I got the hunch I really won't like that skill. I hope my hunch is wrong though. 2480+ total
January 2, 200818 yr So what you are saying is that they are giving us our own bots? Unfortunally they feed of summoning points, so after a while they will just disappear. January 2, 200818 yr I really doubt they will make the monsters help you with skills. If they do, they will be about as usefull as the Throne of Miscellania workers. In other words, useless.
January 2, 200818 yr They have flat out stated the monsters will be able to help with skills. Don't know how yet, but they will be able to. P2P forever!... Or at least 'til <insert excuse here> happens98% of people have signatures with made up statistics in them. If you're one of the 2% that doesn't, copy this and add it to your signature.
January 2, 200818 yr jagex are clever. All the emphasis on summoning in my opinion is to try to dampen the huge blow that they delivered taking out the wilderness, stopping friends giving gifts, and stoping staking and merchanting.
January 2, 200818 yr The prices will lower when the players start chopping the yew trees. They haven't been chopping them as there were macroers. It won't lower back to its original price, but it will still end up lowering.
January 2, 200818 yr So what you are saying is that they are giving us our own bots? No, he's saying summoning could make gathering resources faster, decreasing prices and counter acting the lack of bots. I really doubt they will make the monsters help you with skills. If they do, they will be about as usefull as the Throne of Miscellania workers. In other words, useless. Manage Thy Kingdom is a decent way to get coal, nests, seeds, etc. One of the dds mentions something about familiars aiding skills. All the emphasis on summoning in my opinion is to try to dampen the huge blow that they delivered taking out the wilderness, stopping friends giving gifts, and stoping staking and merchanting. That's what I think. I see many people waiting for summoning to come out before quitting, instead of quitting as soon as the wilderness/trade changes hit. January 2, 200818 yr Even if this idea is implemented, the effect wont be too noticeable, otherwise summoning will be a very imba skill. Ever wanted to find street prices of RS items? All the emphasis on summoning in my opinion is to try to dampen the huge blow that they delivered taking out the wilderness, stopping friends giving gifts, and stoping staking and merchanting. Exactly. They've had it in production for a long time, but they don't officially announce it until a few days before December 10th, when they released the updates. It's almost funny to see how they assume that their players are all idiots who will go "Oooh, Summoning is finally out! Let's not protest or rant about the updates and keep paying our money!". OT: I'm guessing the summoned creatures will help you by A: Gathering resources (logs, ore, ect.) and automatically banking them/putting them in your inv, or B: Doing errands like running ess to you or taking loads of resources to the bank, in the same way that servants in your POH can plank noted logs for you. They stay for limited amounts of time, and they probably don't function on their own; you need to stay logged on and fairly near to them for them to stay summoned. I really doubt that they will be able to run while you're on the other side of the map or logged off. So the impact on prices won't be anywhere close to what was done by bots. There is no meaning or truth in life but that which we create for ourselves.
January 3, 200818 yr Even if this idea is implemented, the effect wont be too noticeable, otherwise summoning will be a very imba skill. Right, I really dont think that summoning will help THAT much with skills, maybe its focused more on combat?

January 3, 200818 yr I guess....but all I know is that I'm loving the yew prices at the moment +1 :D Well, I guess that's a possibility, although I highly doubt Jagex purposefully meant to do this on purpose. I think it's more of a coincidence, but i could be wrong (like I always am )

January 3, 200818 yr i dont think that summoning would help us directly get raw materials but maybe it would be nice to ride a horse to the bank or something like that(just a thought) *-P.K.Masters-* |5+ Years of Experience|F2P Events|Cmb: 95+
January 3, 200818 yr I don't believe that is particularly the reason. I am guessing that summoning will have a relative cost to levelling it, and only in the higher levels will you possibly pay off those costs with the benefits. Your opinion on it does make sense though. PoetryIndexed Picture 1Indexed Picture 2 Killed my maxed Zerker pure April 2010 Rebooting Runescape
January 3, 200818 yr interesing, if prices decrease bots are more forced to leave since they not make so much profit, jagex has made some smart moves lately \
January 3, 200818 yr They(jagex) said summoning would be combat related(its supposed to raise the max combat lvl to 136), Also its kind of hard to imagine wierd creatures fishing and woodcutting. 99 Woodcutting | 99 Constitution | 99 PrayerScapin since July 05'

If the CORPORAL beast is this hard, imagine how hard a GENERAL or COLONEL beast would be. a corporal is not even an admirable rank in armies that use that ranking system. Yeah, it is a pking minigame, so any arguments anybody makes will probably be biased. The best way this will end :Everybody just says,"I'm not arguing with you anymore, goodbye."The worst way this will end: I don't really know, psychological warfare? January 3, 200818 yr They(jagex) said summoning would be combat related(its supposed to raise the max combat lvl to 136), Also its kind of hard to imagine wierd creatures fishing and woodcutting. Actually, the new maximum combat is to be raised to roughly 138 combat. Also, summoning is said to be used to aid combat and non-combat skills alike. January 4, 200818 yr Suppose the summoned creature has a bonus to a skill, like a summoned woodpecker will help ya cut more trees or faster. Or the squid creature helps catch fish faster. Just examples, but somewhere along those lines. Another example is the creature summoned will give a temporary boost to a skill, like a fishing potion does to fishing. A summoned combat creature could help attack in combat, effectively making you a better fighter, thus raising your combat level when summoned. Geaux Tigers ! Congrats on a great year !
